Should I buy it? The FX3 vs. FX6
Просмотров 6862 месяца назад
After purchasing the Sony FX3, the thought crossed my mind whether I should upgrade to its big brother, the Sony FX6. I've always wanted to try it, and this winter I had the opportunity to borrow it from Sony Nordic for a few weeks. I've tested it for commercial filming such as interviews and b-roll, filmed basketball, and captured cross-country skiing. And to top it all off, I got to film anim...

The journey began at 5 AM on Saturday morning, driving from Kongsberg to Gardermoen, Oslo's airport. The flight departed at 8:55, and we landed in Trondheim at 9:50. From ther...

Why I sold my ultra wide-angel: 12mm vs. 16mm

After trying out the new Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM II at the Sony Kando event back in September, I realized it was time to replace my Sony FE 12-24 f/2.8 GM. So, a few weeks ago, I ordered the new 16-35mm. After using it in the field for the past two weeks, I haven't regretted it for a second. It replaces not one but two of my lenses, both the 12-24mm and my Sony FE 16-35 f/4 PZ G. The ability t...

It’s located in Flaa, Norway and called Bjoerneparken (Bear park) 🐻
@@itseriksenthank you
great video mate, that a 300mm its my dream lens. im saving every penie from last year. Lol
Thank you so much! Definitely worth it😍
very nice, where have you been there? To have so many options?? oh my...
Why haven’t you mentioned the Sony 100-400 f4.5 to 5.6 GM lens which I find to be a fairly versatile lens and quality images produced? I realise it’s not f2.8 wide but…
@johnoneill7962 because I don’t like to film with lenses that extends while you zoom, it’s hard enough to get steady and smooth footage while zooming with the 200-600mm.
Fair point. I can see where you are coming from.
Great work on the video! Thanks for making it.
Thanks for watching it 🙌🏼🤩
Are u and the fox just friemss
Os Luts só dá certo se for filmado em C-log ?
It works better if it’s filmed in log, because it’s suppose to help with the color grading of flat footage. It’s will just look over edited on non-flat footage.
bro reminded me that im poor
This job makes me poor.. 😮💨
My choice will be 300 2.8 and 600 f4 pair. Both are handhold-able.
Exactly my situation. I currently own the 600f4 and im heavely looking at this lens ahah
@chennytango9298 If I ever get the chance to have two high end zoom lenses, that will be my choice too!
Bought the 600f4 five years ago . Magic but too big for safari work and often too heavy (I am now 77). Now have the 300 plus 1.4 and 2x that work well with the 300. IQ great with the TCS. Clearly the 600 f4 beats the 300 plus tc but only just. With A2 prints can really tell them apart.
@@bobbrewerbobbrewer1013 Thanks a lot ! Very usefull info ! Ill probably go for the 600+300 combo !
I have a 70-200 and 200-600. what's your advice for upgrading to pro-level lens for wildlife?
Get the money 😅😅
What sd card do you use for the fx3
I was super tempted by the 300mm for a while (mainly for use with teleconverters). Mainly because of the size vs quality ratio. After seeing another video that compared the IQ of the 300 with T/C vs 200--600mm - I decided that it does not give enough benefit to justify the cost. There were rumors of a 150-400mm F4 that I would definitely be tempted by - but again - it needs to be a reasonable size (ideally just slightly bigger than a 100-400mm)
Same! And when I have a 70-200mm and a 400mm, I don’t see a place for the 300mm! I use my 200-600mm for film mainly because of the zoom, yeah it would have been nice with an f/2.8, but I rather buy a better “pro” zoom lens! I don’t care that much of the size, since I have to mount it on a tripod anyway!😅
🦊çok güzel
Çok güzel videolar teşekkürler
Bro please don’t forget to make a fx3 settings video 😔 or can I message you privately if possible
@Shannonmaistv no
1:07 he want that lens 😂😂😂
He actually took the 70-200mm and carried it away 😂
Love the quality !
Thank you so much 🤩🤩
lovely content eriksen, i am one of those who sold 400 2.8 to get the 300 2.8. It is my favorite lens along with my 600 f4 for wildlife. can you please share the details of this forest reserve? Where is it located?
Thank you so much🙌🏼 Yeah if I also had a 600, I probably would also have sold my 400 for a 300mm! But I like my 400mm way too much! It’s located in Flaa (Flå), Norway 🙌🏼
The scenes are very impressive
Thank you so much 🙌🏼🤩
Maravilloso reportaje! Enhorabuena!
Only if you give me the 3. 😊

🙌🙌🙌👍🙂
Nice video. I use A7RV for photography. I dream of getting FX3. It is a great piece of equipment.
Thanks a lot 🙌🏼 I’m so happy with my FX3!😍
I use both the a7rv and fx3, and i can tell you outside of the 1 stop dynamic range difference with the fx3, the ar7v just got better skin tones and better texture in video, also the ibis is miles ahead of the fx3 and the af is just in another league 😊 a7rv is so underrated for video, i dnt understand why more peope dont use it, maybe because youtubers barely talks about it.
@@loudmotion5639 It is normal for cameras like the FX3, which have leading video features, to provide soft and pleasant images in videos. The A7RV is 61 MP, which makes the image more fragmented but also sharp. I think the FX3 looks perfect for video. But of course, it needs to be tested. I think the only advantage the FX3 has over the A7RV is 4K 120 FPS.
@@loudmotion5639 They agree that they watched a few videos. A7RV is indeed better than FX3. Thanks!
Dope video. What song is this?
Thanks a lot! All of them are from artlist.io 🙌🏼
Wow. The fox footage looks so surreal/strange. Almost like AI. It's like the mix of super sharpness on the face and blurry background.
It blows my mind how good these cameras and lenses has become! Never use Ai for my content, so they are 100% real!🙌🏼😁
@@itseriksen I rewatched the footage after getting notified about your comment, and it is still so otherweirdly/surreal. It's insane. And the shot you had of the fox getting up from the ground and facing you almost looked like he was going to pop off the screen. That 3d effect was amazing.
Beautiful Video man
Appreciate it🙌🏼🤩
stunning images....and great choice of music. i bought the 300mm two weeks ago and I'm very excited. first results are awesome. i had the new sigma 500mm f5.6 before. this lens is also amazing - you have to try it. but i sold the lens because you can't use it with the tc's.
Seriously? Sony is missing me off lately, why would they make that not be able to be used with the TC?
Or did you mean the Sigma 500mm?
@RadioSounds_Berlin Thank you so much😁 It’s an awesome lens, so would absolutely be excited! Have tried the Sigma 500 f/4 on a Nikon Z6 with the FTZ adapter, used it during a World Cup stage in Biathlon, awesome lens too!🙌🏼
The colors in this video are amazing. What white balance are you using? And are you using s-cinetone at all?
Thanks a lot 🙌🏼 I just set the WB based on the conditions, and I shot in s-log3! I did use the auto-features on the ZV-E1 for some of the clips!
Great shots of the animals on the zve1. At 300mm f2.8 you must have been using NDs? How did you manage that seeing as the lens does not have a lens thread? Did you use drop in filters?
Thank you so much!🙌🏼 I used a Sony Drop-In Circular Polarizing Filter, that works on my 400mm, and it’s the same on the 600mm and the 300mm! The only way I can film with that lens, since f/2.8 makes it really bright 😅
your profiles are simply astonishing. Congrats. I have the ZVE1 and the RV, recently purchase the 300 for pics and i had the 200-600 for vídeo. i would like to see the process of your editing cause is impressive the sharpness. Thank you so much. best regards
Thank you so much😁🙌🏼 the 300mm is a killer lens! I will see what I can make in the future, I definitely have it in mind!
@@albertocostell4449 I have the same set up, just waiting for the 300mm to be delivered. I would like to try out the 300mm on the zve1 but would probably need to get the drop in filter as well.
@@itseriksen thanks mate and congrats again. I cant achieve that with davinci and topaz haha
@@johnbarrett8761 yep, i purchase the polarizer cause i also do motorsport. For the NDs maybe im going to purchase filters that goes on the sensor, cause the PL cost me 400€ :D Whats something i noticed is how good the 200-600 is. The focus is even faster on the zoom lens
Could you please make a video of the settings you use for your fx3 please
I will see what I can do 😄
@itseriksen thank you it's really needed 🔥 do you have a fx30 by Any chance
300 GM w/ 2X for wildlife*, sharper than the 400 GM w/1.4X and half the weight and size.
Maybe, I don’t like the TC 2x, messes so much with the quality! And f/5.6 is usually sharper then an f/4, more in focus 🤷🏽♂️
@itseriksen Clearly you've not used the 300 with a 2X
@@frostybe3r You must not have used it with the 2xTC either. The reviewers that have tried the E 300 f2.8G and 1.4xTC combo show it to be a not sharp combination and you are better off using the E 200-600.
@@KungPowEnterFist Stop being a mushroom and actually use gear yourself.
@@frostybe3r When that E 300 f2.8G drops to $1000, the real value of that lens, I might try it. And I can be a mushroom if I wanna be. You can't stop me.
Insanely beautiful

It’s with the Sony 300mm f/2.8 GM 🙌🏼😁
A very nice 300mm lens. Great footage. Thanks for sharing. Just subbed here. 1 LIKE from me. Greetings from Singapore.👍🔔
Thank you so much🙌🏼🤩 It’s a really nice lens, so sharp and fast!
What flash do you use for photography?
Just the Godox AD600pro, and AD400, works really well if you don’t want to spend Profoto money🥲🤑
Nice video what park is this super nice scene
Thank you!😄 it’s located in Flaa (Flå), Norway, and it’s called Bjoerneparken (Bjørneparken).
So the "wildlife" in this video was clearly shoot at a zoo or "wildlife" park and I think its a pitty you did not mention that.
@CNylundPhotography Yes, some of the footage was shot at a zoo or wildlife park, and if that wasn't obvious enough, that's on me. But the point of the video was to demonstrate the lens's performance in a practical setting. Zoos are part of reality for many photographers who don’t have instant access to wild environments. If it bothers you that I didn’t mention it, noted.
… what‘s the point of this comment?
I’m more curious how you have access to the enclosures with large predators like that. Zoos here in Canada have “photographer access” but they would never let you in an enclosure with something lime a bear or wolf. Also the environments are gorgeous. Any zoo I have ever been to never has large natural environments like that.
I thought exactly the same
I think this lens doesn't show any pros and cons, when it comes to wildlife, while the area to film or photograph is like a private zoo. Different, situation would be if the photographer would be in a real situations, with wildlife, to see the real limitations. When it comes to sport photography, it's good to olympics and football or hokey, volleyball.. Basketball is "built different sport", so that's too much.
Sorry that I didn’t cover every sport in this video, and of course it’s easy for wildlife, where the subject is just in the same place due to bait 👍🏼
I was going to say, not really "wild"life photography
I appreciate your comment and understand why zoo photography might not seem like ‘true’ wildlife photography to some. My focus has always been on inspiring people to care about animals and nature. With nearly 1.4 million followers on Instagram, I’ve seen firsthand how showcasing wildlife, even from zoos, can spark curiosity and conversations about conservation. While I prefer capturing animals in their natural environments, zoos play an important role in protecting species that are struggling due to habitat destruction and poaching. Sharing these moments can still make a difference and raise awareness about the challenges wildlife face globally. But if you don’t respect my view on that, it’s cool 👍🏼
@@itseriksen Tbh I don't care about your "dedication" and instagram likes, here is youtube, and if you do a semi-review, I care about usage of the lens as other people. You might be my source of information, or just a spam account. Nobody said your view on something is disrespected. As a viewer I feel disrespected as I can't get any information from the video, on which I sacrificed my time, and other people too. Put it on, go outside, and start doing naural wildlife, that's all this title of video should be about.
I shot wildlife with Sony 300mm birds in flight were super sharp and fast, some birds were flying toward the camera I had no issue with it at all
Very nice review and superb footage. Sold my 400, and use the 200-600 for filming. Waiting for a f4 zoom. Thanks allot.
