Mystery Ranch vs. Cotopaxi: 42 L Travel Backpacks HD 1080p
Recently decided to upgrade my travel bag from a REI Big Haul 40. The two packs that stood out were the Cotopaxi Allpa 42 and the New Mystery Ranch Mission Rover 45. Don't let the numbers fool you, they are all about the same size. I take an in-depth comparative look and let offer my option of which might be the better pack for my needs. Cheers

The new SOG Diverge XR HD 1080p
Просмотров 9633 месяца назад
I saw this had recently come out and I'm a long time 940 Osborne fan, so naturally I had to get it. At a mere 2.7 oz with anodized green scales, could this be even better than the Benchmade?
Gerber Scout: High Value EDC

Ok, I've been using this knife for about 6 weeks now and really love the balance of design, materials and (most importantly) price. I replaced my $200 knife with this $60 wonder and now I don't worry about loosing yet another high end knife. I review it and share my thoughts with you.

The NEW Gerber Strongarm Camp: Strong arm or Limp wrist?
Просмотров 2,6 тыс.4 месяца назад
Well, it doesn't live up to the reputation of its classic predecessor but how does this new blade compare to the other bushcraft/campy knives out there. After unboxing it, take a look and compare it to Esee, Joker, SOG and other Gerber's.
Mystery Ranch Wingman AFP Accessory Pocket
Просмотров 6424 месяца назад
I take a first look at the Mystery Ranch Wingman AFP accessory pocket. The design is different from the others on the market with its attachment wings that include the sternum strap. I did have a bit of a quality problem out of the box but hope to resolve with customer service.
SOG Camp Axe: It feels like a toy!

I unbox and give my initial thoughts on the SOG Camp Axe. Sneak peak, if felt like a toy and not a hatchet nor axe. At 3:15, I then cut to a few weeks later and give my assessment and give you my thoughts for some good alternatives.

Hello, I recently picked up this blade on a recent SOG sale. I take a first look and provide my thoughts on how I might use this. The knife is a blend of filed and soldier knife with a sheath optimized for LBE. Cheers
Viktos Counteract CCW Pack (15L)
Просмотров 2,8 тыс.5 месяцев назад
This is the small EDC pack in Viktos' new Counteract line. They also have a smaller sling bag. The idea with these is that they have a dedicated CCW area that has a rapid presentation function. I like it because it has a completely separate storage than the rest of the pack, making it a great option for public areas where you might not want to present as overly tactical.

Ultralight Travel Backpacks: Mystery Ranch vs Mountain Hardware
I find the Principle very easy to sharpen to a very slicey edge without resorting to a secondary bevel. The trick is to keep the bevel absolutely flat against the stone while sharpening. My only complaint with the Izulu is the 55 Rockwell hardness. That's just too soft to hold an edge for very long so you constantly have to hone it to maintain sharpness.
Por lo que vale el bench te compras un lynx,un nomad y un erizo y te sobra dinero
This has been a great help in checking out the Mystery Wrench products.
I can only agree-Joker is unbeatable in terms of what it offers for the price, both in appearance and functionality. For example, the Bushlore model even has a blade made from Sleipner steel for around 100 Euros.
Sleipner is a way better than 1095
For the cost of that benchmade I could buy a Prometheus Hunter from Redroot Blades and support a local craftsman. I do like it, but that's a steep price.
what flashlight is that? :)
Hi, the exterior one? It’s an OLIGHT clip on light. Love them for the dog or for walking along a road or trail at night. Rechargeable and weighs next to nothing. I have a few and really like them to be seen or keep track of kids or the dog.
The Lynx is the better value. Both are great knives.
Did you try the choil for sparks? That looked sharp.
Did you try the choil for sparks? That looked sharp.
Those slide lock/button belt clips are terrible. Bulky, they always unlock and the next time you bend over it pops open. Not safe. Just like guns, the sheath is key.
I appreciate this review. Straight to the point and you actually used it
Thank you! Amazing review, you really demonstrate different scenarios of how you use the backpack, and the details, they are really useful information to me
Glad I could help
Answered everything i wanted to know!! Probably sold me a bag here

VERSION 2 IS MUCH NICER
1. You paid 20$ 2. You can see the dimensions when you buy it. 3. It's a camp axe for people who occasionally camp. Not full on survival. 4. It serves its intended purpose.
I am a big fan of Cudeman, I just bought the Yoda to add to my collection. What is the small knife in the top right, looks like a gerber.
Love how nobody runs with these.
Depends where you live. A friend who lives in anchorage regular see these on the local running/ cross country trails.

Great info and review! Are you still using your Garberg? What is your preference, stainless steel or carbon? If possible, why? Thanks!
Hi. Thank you for watching. I only have the carbon Garberg. I rotate it into my various systems and still enjoy it. It sharpens relatively easily and I still like it. I don’t have one in stainless. My other Mira that is stainless is a very base line one and I haven’t used it at all, so I’m not sure I can give an opinion on carbon vs stainless in the Garberg. I haven’t had any issues with rust on the carbon and it is a robust knife. I’d still probably buy the carbon based on that experience vs the theoretical of stainless.
Joker knives are garbage when you thump on them. Heat treatment stinks. I’ve broke two, and the customer service is awful when I asked for replacements. Stick with Esee, everyone else is a distant second.
Can i use this as a sling?
Thank you for the review. Couldnt resist and bought the gold/light blue model for 49€.
Lol way to small might as well use your pockets
In your opinion, will the molle connection hold up to the PALS Molle standard? I'm thinking about adding this to my day pack, but I don't want it falling off if I take a tumble or something. Thanks
I just don’t really have experience with the molle. It looks robust and 5.11 does a good job with design. I went with a tech lock and really like the quick versatility of it.
Hello. How is it after a year of use? I'm a little worried about the durability of the plastic construction. Is it worth buying?
Fine for hiking and occasional use. If it is a work light, I would go with something all metal. I like the Olight clip light.
How about this vd the maxpedition janus?
The Janus is designed as a clip in extension for a maxpetion sling bag. Size is similar but the materials are heavier on the Janus. With out a direct side by side comparison, I would still go 5.11 since I can use it in more applications and it is lighter.
Will this fit a sub compact 9mm?
It fits my S&W body guard. My S&W shield fits but I would do other options for carry.
Nice
I just bought Benchmade Saddle Mountain for $200. It is beautiful knife but, the sharpness out of box is disappointing. My folding Chinese knives that are supposedly made of M390 in $70-$110 range are work of art and the sharpest knives that I've ever seen. Even $20-$30 folding knives in D2 that I got on Amazon feel sharper after stropping one of them and the other ran on 1200 grit diamond and strop. I don't regret buying Benchmade (I could return it) but, it is hard to find excuse for sharpness at that price.
Just picked up one of these and am loving it. I also want to put a tek-lok on it, but how the heck do you remove that molle clip? Ok, disregard, a T9 did the trick. Kind of hard to get at the semi hidden hardware. 😅
Sounds like you got it. I’ve been using mine too. Nice blade around the build site. That tanto can be more useful than you thunk
Do u think this bag would be good for a family of 4 for disney? Carry water bottles and some extra stuff?
@@filipinophreak just did a couple days at Busch gardens Virginia. I saw a few people with similar bags carrying for the family. They are nice and small but they will still make you leave them for most of the rides. The advantage of a small bag is that they fit in the cubbies provided. Id really look at DW rules carefully. Some parks only alow mesh or transparent plastic bags. It’s for safety but in reality they want you buying their stuff. Given the temps, you might sweat along you back a bit more since there is no padding or wicking mesh. I know that’s not the best answer, but things to consider. Have fun
i went to vegas for a concert this summer and also went out hiking at red rock canyon instead of gambling, very beautiful!
Cool, I love Vegas and spent a lot of my 20 through 40s at red rocks climbing. Slowing down so I hike a lot more now. Last hike I did there was called the Gold Strike Hot Springs Trail. Super fun with scrambling up and down the dry river bed with hot springs along the lower half. Best is when you hit the Colorado at the bottom. Bring your swim suit. Cheers
Great comparison. Keep up the channel
Thank you for watching!
Great review. Wish I had this vs my MR SPARTANOLOGY when we did 2-Countries Travel. I'd imagine placing this in my half-full Carry On Roll Luggage and deploy this as we explore different cities by day. On the way back, I'd check in my now full-of-souvenirs roll on Luggage and use this as Carry On bag. I agree using Zoid bags. They help organize and give proper shape and balance to the In-and-Out bag
The more I use the pack, the more I like it. Only drawback is if it is a hot climate the back does not breath. To get a breathable fabric, you have to go to a more substantial pack in terms of weight and packability. Pro tip, a small, chilled hydration pack help to keep it cooler on the back.
The handle is too small. Same problem as with the Benchmade. They waste useable length with the design of the handle and create possible hotspots. Lynx handle is great, as is the Garbergs.
Interesting comment. Made me really think about handles. Everyone has a different shape and size of hand. This would make you think there are knives and the handles that really work with some people, same with blade shape. Rather than think of it as the perfect knife for all, what is the perfect knife for me. Thank you
@@mtnboy123 It has a lot to do with versatility, being able to hold the knife comfortably in different ways depending on the cutting...chest lever, reverse a.s.o. The more ways i can hold a knife and use without hotspots the more i like it.
IMO, the Strongarm (and Strongarm Camp) are good basic knives, they're just about 30-40% more expensive than they should be. I paid $50 for my Strongarm Camp, and IMO thats about what it SHOULD be going for.
Yes agreed. Takes it to the “solid utilitarian” status. Thank you for watching.
@@mtnboy123Here in Europe it costs about 120$
Has any benchmade knife ever won a value competition? With their recent price hikes, they never will.
Good question. Back in the day they had their black class that seemed to be a more value proposition. They also had more budget friendly offerings like the griptillion or bug out. Hunt for the occasional sale on these and you do get a value relative to the materials you get and warranty level. Hunt even harder and you can also find significant discounts on their other offerings but rarely in the gold class. It seems like BM has positioned themselves more as a collectors or as a high end gift manufacture with a significant profit margin.
you know that when you open the compartment to access your carry, you are supposed to hold on to and pull on that strap/buckle which then opens that flap and slides out your carry for easy and faster access to draw.
@@Cloud21x I know. You really have to jerk it to get it to deploy the gun tray. You have train regularly on it. I’d prefer a magnetic closure that can’t buckle. If under stress, I can see getting hung up on the buckle.
@@mtnboy123 i see and that makes sense
I think it’s 4mm instead of 3.5mm thick.
@@RogerC2023 yeah, it interesting how reported numbers vary from mfg to retailer websites. Also, many are in either metric or English measurements and there is some loss in translation. .I think I measured it with my micronimeter, but I’ll measure it again when I get home. Thank you for your comment.
I like both benchmade and Joker , i bought the bushcrafter 2 and a half years ago and wow on the S30v as it hold an edge very well. Better than i thought it would. I also paid a lil over 200 bucks and it is worth every penny. I got two new Jokers on the way and will most likely really like them as the reviews on these two are 5 star.
I’ve been wondering about the BC 2. It seems more square in the hand than BC 1. Does it feel ok under load? The blood channel is also an I teresting touch. What do you think?
Product alert. This case is fantastic well-built you won’t believe it. But if you have the new bodyguard 2.0 this is a match made in heaven. They Mary up perfectly and discreetly holes and protects your newest greatest micro 380. Guarantee you will love it
Good point. I was thinking about building a little 380 into my back pack kit. I use a Magpul pouch for hiking edc already. Just add my bodyguard 1.0. Very discreet, but there and accessible if you need it. Lower key than my chest carry.
So, do you still have it? What are your thoughts 3 months later Looking for a good Greyman edc backpack with the cc option Use the 5.11 rush series currently 12,24 and 72 Wondering if this is worth it or you know if anything better Thanks ✌️
Ahh, you need to watch the next video. Viktos Counteract: 2 month review ruclips.net/video/XMj9ynd-G2Q/видео.html
I noticed that you have your bag hooked on the front straps on their shortest loops. This is the same way that my bag was shipped to me, and it took me a little while to see that there are multiple loops on the front straps that you can hook the metal fitting into. It was nice to know that the bag has these adjustment loops on the front straps. Nice review.
Thank you for watching. I saw that and like to ride it higher up on my chest. If I was running it as a bandolier for mags, I’d probably run it lower.
Thanks so much for posting. I really wanted to see what the collar actually looked like in use under different light conditions, and your video was a huge help!
Glad it was helpful!
Beautiful Detailed Review. Thank you 🙏 Brother. Think 🤔 I will go with the Viktos bag you showed.
Please let me know how it goes. Reminds me to get out and go train with mine a bit. Got to get that buckle and draw practiced. The one thing I would change.
Thanks for comparing the 2 knives on my wish list. Very good job and honest opinion.
Thanks. On esthetics and feel alone go lion steel. The Esee is a tool where the Lionsteel has that 2nd kind of cool
Can this work with an average belt?
Yes, I use a tek lock and it works great. Just slap it on. Honestly, I don’t use the sewn on straps at all
Have Bridger 65 and with a load over 28lbs the shoulder straps padding collapses and its MISERABLE! Mystery Ranch should build and send out a replacement with an apology. 28 miles with a 33lb pack and no shoulder padding to speak of sticks with a fella.🤨
The Joker Ursus knife is a better comparison to the CDS Axarquia, as they could be, but not - identical twins. The Ursus is more like the Lynx beefier Bro.
