    This video has helped me a lot. I have my church friend for many years, and now she is getting weak but still goes to church now in her wheelchair. I had to watch this several times to learn how to transfer her from car to wheelchair and vice versa. Thank you so much!

    thank you so much for this video!!! I am currently undergoing p.t after being bedridden for more than a month last year and thus lost strength in my legs. We’ve been trying to find ways to minimize carrying me because it puts a lot of pressure on my shoulders. So it’s really nice that there’s a video like this teaching people how to do a wheelchair to car and vice versa transfer!! We’re going to try this out soon, I hope it works ✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻

    Workmans compensation is required? What state are you from? That's not true. Here in California the minimum pay for a 24 hr shift in 2024 I s $504 per day which includes overtime.. We used an agency for my Mother In law when she developed advanced dementia and it would've been easier and cheaper to use a private Caregiver. I am a private Caregiver right now, mostly from that experience. Most Caregivers in our area are older like me, mid- late fifties or even 60's. It's much cheaper to hire someone without the middle man, just use logic. You need to get a background check and pay them at least the lawful minimum wage.

    I am a very short disabled senior female. I have little difficulty entering or exiting a regular height sedan. My problem is entering a taller SUV. My legs are too short or the seat is too high to allow me to sit when my rear is facing the seat. My nephew has built me a little step contraption that I can climb, turn around and I can sit. It works fine BUT I don’t always have it with me when faced with getting o an SUV. Any suggestions on what to do then? I have severe arthritis in both knees and a ruptured Achilles in my left ankle that seem to compound the problem…….

      That is a very difficult situation. We are sorry to hear that. Perhaps start with a physical therapy evaluation as to what the best steps would be. If a transfer is not possible, perhaps consider a wheel chair accessible van.

    I'm actually crippled and not faking it. This won't work for someone who really can't put weight on their legs without falling. Your "disabled person" is obviously healthy and so are you. Try doing it without putting ANY weight on your legs. I dare ya. That's what some of us deal with every day. How do I put my wheelchair in the backseat if I can't walk? How can I pull it out of the back and sit in it if I can't stand out walk? Someone needs to come up with a way to do this. That's why I'm dependent on others and I absolutely HATE it!

    • @katm9877
      @katm9877 5 месяцев назад

      I know it's been a couple months but most people in your situation put the wheelchair on the front passenger seat (or remove the front passenger seat entirely) It does take some adjustments and some arm strength (push the driver seat as far back as possible to transfer wheels, one by one, and then the frame, onto the passenger seat)

    This video did not help me at all. My husband has Parkinson's and he can't assist like this woman. I can't even get help from the health insurance to get a lift to transfer him from a wheelchair to a vehicle. Health insurance will help pay for one of those big Hoyer lifts for the house. So, wouldn't it make sense that a person needs a lift to transfer into a vehicle. Our health care system is so backwards. A lift is 6000 dollars. I can't afford that. I would like to see you transfer someone that's dead weight.

    • @AtHomeNursingCare
      @AtHomeNursingCare 11 месяцев назад

      I regret that this did not help you. Living with Parkinson's can be difficult. Our local Parkinson's Association provides help with obtaining donated equipment. Please reach out to the Parkinson's Association in your area. There are also Medical Supply Companies that will rent a Hoyer lift monthly. The last time I checked, it was $150 a month. We have videos on how to use a Hoyer Lift as well. ruclips.net/video/MI1CMip07tA/видео.html

    • @lanebt4670
      @lanebt4670 11 месяцев назад

      @@AtHomeNursingCare i know about Hoyer lifts. That is not what I need for him to get in and out of a vehicle. He has a sit to stand to help him in the house. I need a lift to help put him in and out of a vehicle. Funny thing to me insurance covers something such as a Hoyer lift for the home but nothing to help a disabled person to get out of home and be lifted in and out of a vehicle. This is why disabled people get depressed. It's like the insurance companies will help pay to keep a person confined in a home. It stands to reason if a person needs a lift in a home then they need it to get out of the home. Just ridiculous.
