With all you both have said about keeping worms I want to get a worm bed going. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Our pleasure!
It will be fun to see it decorated! 🌲
Definitely!!
Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge. I live in north central Louisiana, so our first frost was last week. Is it too late for me to plant garlic?
I always liked to have it in the ground before the first frost but I do not believe it’s too late I would take a chance and do it
@ Thank you. A friend has some that she’s going to dig up for me. They pull theirs as they need it only.
Loved this conversation 👍🏾
Much appreciated
I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge of how to keep a homestead
Thanks for watching and for such a kind comment
I could listen to you all day! God bless you and yours.❤
Wow, thank you

Merry Christmas paw paw and to all your family
The same to you and your family I hope y’all are well and happy
We live in north central Louisiana and know when you’re saying about the hard packed clay. More than half our property is that and there’s about a quarter of it that has deep top soil. I want to put no-till into practice and see if we can improve gardening here. So far we’ve had raised beds and haven’t been as successful as we need to be. My dad and step-mom are 89 and 79 and still garden for the family. I’m so glad they are both still able to do that since they both love it. They’ve taught us the value in it and I honestly don’t think I would be happy without a garden of some kind. God bless y’all.
No till is simple take three or four years to start turning that clay, but it works
I know a guy who is supposedly selling a large Rubbermaid Container of worm casting for over $1000!
In small lots you can get two dollars a pound. In large lots, I have no idea.
Awesome. This man reminds me of my grandad who farmed till he passes at 101 years old. We need this wisdom!
We were using it backwards y’all 😂😂😂
Not useing chemical fertilisers and pest and weed sprays. Absolutly way to go in my opinion. But if possible get original seeds, if you can. Yes they may not look appealing, they may not keep as long, they may not have as much flavour. But they are full of healthy vitamins and minerals to feed you and keep you out of a doctors surgery. Just wish I was able to farm a plot like this. Poor heath means I can no longer do it.
Biochar is what they used to create TerrePreta in the Amazon etc and still do make and use it. But, you need to let it rest in the soil for a year before using it because... the char pulls elements and minerals into it's billions of capillaries until full. If you use it in gardens without this step it will rob from the plants and they will be undernourished or worse. It's best to inoculated with compost for a year before using it on your plants, after that it'll be amazing for your plants and give back all those stored nutrients. Plants and fruits grow amazingly large and prolific
We soak our biochar and rabbit urine for about six months before applying it in the field. This is called charging it. Otherwise you are very correct. It will rob your plants.
A good resource is "Better Off: Flipping the switch on technology" by Eric Brende.

That’s my goal. Get an acre, build a tiny house and then expand while renting out the original dwellings. The crazy thing is, my grandparents did this exact same thing DECADES ago. They were the originators of the tiny home as they bought land, built what they call the ”little kitchen” and had a couple of small trailers/a storage shed and then they built their main house. Of course, my grandmother was also a pioneer of recycling and yoga in the 70s, so we’re just kind of trendsetters and everybody else just follows but somehow acts salty and bothered about it. 😂

Im so grateful I live in the countryside. I like the tarp idea. I've been spreading a thick hay blanket over my compost for the winter. I see the concept of the tarp may break everything down faster. I'll give it a go. Thanks for the tips.
Let us know how it turns out for you please
Damn I only got 1/2 acre. I am looking forward to the spring when I fence and start gardening and have small animals for food. But winter will come first.
You can start prepping now Nyvall
I keep hitting the like, and it doesn't add it
Appreciate the effort Mary Welcome to our family
I just want 1 acre of land and a 1,000 square foot house, a pond, and a work shop.
Great goals Best wishes
You can eat tomato leaves and chilli leaves in a salad.
Grape leaves also
Comfrey is a wonderful mulch. Also the roots break up the soil to a few foot
Seaweed is a super thing to put on the soil
Interesting ‼️
If you are near a cost. My grandfather on the West coast of Ireland went to get it with a horse and cart. It was soread over the land. The worms bring it down. I used to get sacks of it here in Cornwall in the far sw of the uk. I used to out it at the feet if my blackcurrant bushes.(@@PawpawSammyAlyBug
Near a coast
And some good leaf litter and soil from the forest.. I see you are next to a forest. It is full of friendly organisms.
AMEN 🙏 to self sustainable living and living WITH the earth.
🙏🙏🙏
Interesting
1 acre + means to acquire fertilizers, equipment and food stuff 1 acre cannot produce. Plenty of time to work 1 acre and process your food. It still beats vegetating in front of RUclips, but just get real.
He’s a “ Rod buster “ ain’t no ironworker !!! What the crap ?
And local 623 Baton Rouge to get a journeymen ironworkers book. you had to pass a test structural steel, rebar. small local so we had to do it all. I have been super advisor General Foreman on structural steel and rebar metal buildings or anything else to pertain to ironwork also, I’m a welder where I come from if you can’t do the job, you don’t need to be on it. When somebody tells me I’m a welder I’m a hook on man I’m a connector telling me he don’t have a whole Lotta knowledge anyway I don’t know what local are you from but if you don’t know a lot, you might be able to get away with it like and subscribe thank you.
Awesomeness!😊
Just a girl in central Arkansas here. Just found your channel. Watched your video about self sustaining on 1 acre and now this video. You, sir, have earned a subscribe from me. Thank you for imparting your wisdom. May Yah continue to bless you.
Welcome to the family. I spent week in Arkansas last week when it dropped down in the 30s I went south back to Louisiana.lol
Don’t blame you. lol It got worse after you left. Been in the low 20s every morning. I’ve got a lot of family in SE Louisiana. Slidell, Westwego and Destrehan. Almost moved there but it’s just a little too hot for me there. I know about heat because I grew up in Mississippi.
Shared this with my woman. She's looking for a self sufficient minimal setup.
Questions just let me know
Thank you for your time and wisdom. You are much appreciated. Be blessed 🙏
You are so welcome
Sealed the video with Amen DONT you just love our Lords people fantastic 🏆🙏🏽😇

This was wonderful and quite inspirational. Thank y'all both, and God be with you!
And you as well! Thank you 😊
I enjoyed the presentation until the woman started with her doomsday crap. Just "Do You". Plant a garden. Grow your food, enjoy. Why do people think "it will get worse before it gets better" and that what they are doing is the answer?
Thank you for your input
It should be no .... I plant to grass .
There is no such thing as bad land. It takes work to make land thrive again.
Fun-Jie😂
This is great its like hanging out with people that don't bullshit around and forget what their talking about
Thanks for sharing your videos 😊 Paw Paw .😊
Yes sir ❤
Thank you
What % of Americans own 1 acre of land? Less than 1%! Not good advice except for the less than 1%.
Is the glass half empty or half full?
@PawpawSammyAlyBug If less than 1% of Americans even have this opportunity then the glass is nearly empty!
Doesn’t matter both sides are controlled by big corporations- central banks
Wow!!!! Your testimony is so wonderful. All praise to Jesus!!!!
