RB26DETT Cylinder Head Shim Issues
Some background info: I bought the car from a dealer with this issue at a discount. The car initially had an oil pump issue, so the bottom of the engine was taken apart to replace the oil pump. An N1 crank was installed and the crank and rod bearings were also replaced. All this work was done at their shop before I took possession of the car. I believe when the engine was flipped on the stand to do the pump and crank the shims fell out of place. When they put everything back together they found a "bent valve" in cylinder 1. So they took the head off and sent it to the machine shop to get fixed. To me it seems like the machine shop didn't fix anything but get the head decked.
In the end, a...

How To Install Recaro Seats Into An RSX
Просмотров 17 тыс.8 лет назад
This is a step by step video for a DIY on installing the Recaro seats that come out of the type-r rsx. These come out of a RHD vehicle imported from japan. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHATEVER YOU DO TO CAR. DO THIS ON YOUR OWN RISK. I was able to learn how to do this through the clubrsx forum. I made a video because the pictures on the post got corrupted and no one else made a video. Here's a lin...

    Thanks for the video. I was wondering if you could weld that close to a O2 sensor or did they remove the sensor, welded it and then put the sensor on?

    • @dc5obsessions181
      @dc5obsessions181 Месяц назад

      O2 sensors live on the exhaust so they are designed to withstand high heat. They did not remove the sensor. If they were welding directly on the O2 bung, the sensor would need to be removed. Thanks

    Cutting corners will only create more problems. Just bite the bullet and buy the bolt on part, If you cant weld. Real world problems require real world solutions.

    Hi. I have a question. How did the gasket works for you? I am having the same issue. I've replaced 2 gaskets already but none of them works. It only lasted for 1 week, then the gasket goes bad again. 🤦‍♂️

    • @dc5obsessions181
      @dc5obsessions181 3 месяца назад

      Try a different type of gasket. It may need a donut gasket. Make sure the flanges are flat with each other.

      @@dc5obsessions181 I will try the donut gasket, that’s the only gasket that I haven’t tried. Thank you for responding. 👍🏼

    So do you cut the air bag sensor from both driver and passenger seats and add a 2 ohm resistor to both sensors?

    How'd it hold up after all these years? And why wouldn't you expand the pipe on the car (towards the muffler) to run new flex inside instead instead of out? Seems way more prone to leaks this way to me.

    P0420 is probably the code that typically comes up if there is a leak between the exhaust manifold and the downstream oxygen sensor. As the outside pipe diameters of the new pipe is the same as the old one, a pipe sleeve/band would be a better option. Welding or press clamping becomes a problem in the future. Also, the new pipe will rust very soon. Spray painting with a high temperature paint would be helpful.

    Thanks for sharing your experience. Working on exhaust/muffler pipes is often fairly challenging (my past experience). Right now I have a leak from the exhaust pipe, near the top where it connects to the manifold (it's not the gasket/flange), and I'm inclined to take it to a mechanic.

    • @dc5obsessions181
      @dc5obsessions181 4 года назад

      No it didn't rattle. It fixed the exhaust leak, but not the starting issue. The starting issue ended up being the fuel pump was failing. So it wasn't suppying enough fuel pressure to started the car.

    My car has more room between the flex and ox sensor, and the pipe is a different size than you have. Be sure to measure before ordering. also muffler paste!
