The Heart as it Ages (Lecture A Healthy Pace)
Просмотров 34Год назад
Your heart and blood vessels are more susceptible to damage once you reach the age of 65. The changes that happen as you age can increase your risk of heart disease. Heart disease happens when oxygen-rich blood can’t make it to your heart as easily as before. As plaque builds up in your coronary arteries, blood flow to your heart muscles is reduced. Luckily, this can be reversed and prevented i...

Edward Walker, 58, spends most of his time at his New Hope apartment these days. The former runner and basketball player is only allowed to take 50 steps per day. In March, his life took an unexpected turn. While working as a janitor for the Robbinsdale School District, he noticed something wrong with his leg. "It was throbbing. I was like what the heck is doing on?" Walker said. Walker is diab...

5 Drug Binding Receptors
Просмотров 9Год назад
Receptor is a macromolecule in the membrane or inside the cell that specifically (chemically) bind a ligand (drug). The binding of a drug to receptor depends on types of chemical bounds that can be established between drug and receptor. The strength of this chemical bonds (covalent, ionic, hydrogen, hydrophobic) determine the degree of affinity of ligand to receptor. Ligands (drugs) that attrac...
6 Therapeutic Index
Просмотров 8Год назад
The therapeutic index (TI) is the range of doses at which a medication is effective without unacceptable adverse events. Drugs with a narrow TI (NTIDs) have a narrow window between their effective doses and those at which they produce adverse toxic effects. Generic drugs may be substituted for brand-name drugs provided that they meet the recommended bioequivalence (BE) limits. However, an appro...
7 Receptor Selectivity
Просмотров 68Год назад
Receptors are named on the basis of their major endogenous agonist (e.g. adrenergic, serotoninergic, opioid). They are then usually ‘sub-‐typed’ on the basis of their selectivity for agonists or antagonists. Agonist selectivity is determined by the ratio of EC50 of the dose- response curve at the two different receptor subtypes. For example, β-‐adrenoceptors can be sub-‐typed into β1 and β2,...
8 Drug Efficacy And Potency
Просмотров 15Год назад
Efficacy is the ability of a drug after binding with receptors to initiate change which leads to certain effects. Simply, Efficacy (Emax) is the capacity of a drug to produce a maximum response. Also, it is known as maximal efficacy. In other words, Efficacy is the maximal response that can be elicited by the drug. In other words, Efficacy is the ability of a drug to elicit a physiologic respon...
What is Adverse Drug Reactions
Просмотров 4Год назад
What is an adverse drug reaction? An adverse drug reaction is a harmful reaction to a medicine given at the correct dose. The reaction can start soon after you take the medicine, or up to 2 weeks after you stop. An adverse drug reaction can cause serious conditions such toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) and anaphylaxis. TEN can cause severe skin damage. Anaphylaxis is a sudden, life-threatening ...

4 Pharmacodynamics Receptor Agonists and Antagonists
Просмотров 24Год назад
An agonist is a drug that binds to the receptor, producing a similar response to the intended chemical and receptor. Whereas an antagonist is a drug that binds to the receptor either on the primary site, or on another site, which all together stops the receptor from producing a response. The main difference between these two drugs is that one simulates the intended reaction, where as an antagon...
3 Pharmacodynamics Non Receptor Drug Targets
Просмотров 425Год назад
NON-RECEPTOR-MEDIATED DRUG ACTION This refers to drugs which do not act by binding to specific regulatory macromolecules. Drug action by purely physical or chemical means, interactions with small molecules or ions (antacids, chelating agents, cholestyramine, etc.), as well as direct interaction with enzymes, ionic channels and transporters has already been described. In addition, there are drug...
2 Pharmacodynamics Dose Response Relationship
Просмотров 9Год назад
Regardless of how a drug effect occurs-through binding or chemical interaction-the concentration of the drug at the site of action controls the effect. However, response to concentration may be complex and is often nonlinear. The relationship between the drug dose, regardless of route used, and the drug concentration at the cellular level is even more complex (see Pharmacokinetics). Dose-respon...
Complications From Thyroid Surgery

Glad it was helpful!
It took the first group days or months to video a giant squid alive and this one just swims into a bay
Use headphone, It's strange that you can only hear his discussion if you use headphone 😊 btw..Thank you for this video
USE HEADPHONES IF U DONT USE, YOU CANT HEAR ANY VOİCES
This is by far the most understandable and logical example of percussion sounds for me thank you very much!
Where's sound. I didn't hear sound. Please reupload this.
Its strange but if u use headphones you can hear

I like the video but occasionally it is difficult to hear certain words (I am very familiar with medical terms) and the inset picture is blurred. Nevertheless, it is excellent.
No sound
No sound in video then why people saying its good
I think they are become sarcastic
Use headphones
Because there is sound. Dunno what's wrong with yours/why you can't hear it.

Thank you! Explanation was clear and easy to understand.
Best video I have ever seen. Thank you for uploading
No sound
Turn the volume up on your device. I had to cut down the sound abit because there was too much of static in the background

In not in captivity
Ask the patient to breathe deeply....as their being intubated?..... I’m confused
That's if the patient is conscious, if the patient is unconscious then a different approach is taken depending on the situation. If the patient breathe in then the airway has less obstruction for intubation. Hope that makes sense. Please leave another comment with any further questions.
You can also give Rocuronium to relax the vocal cords if the patient is unconscious which is given in anesthetic induction regularly.
A vidéo about the mâle genitalia examination
That's a part of gynaecology, it's a different series on its own and will be coming very soon.
Nice stunts mr. Squid :D
Its not in captivity. That is a giant squid that swam into a Japanese harbour.
Watchful hands how?? It probably just drifted in there. Also it died soon after due to pressure difference and all that stuff.
The Randomised no the man interacting with it swam it out to the open and the squid descended to the bottom on its own
Wow that is amazing, but how do you know if it is in captivity?
It looks like a huge tank
although not everything is same because X looks like X.. Then a pig would be an aardvark, as would an anteater, then an anteater would be an echidna, then that would be a hedgehog, then that would be a porcupine, then it would be a spiny rat, then mouse, rabbit, hare, and we could go on FOREVER!
This is not a tank. Its a Japanese harbour. The squid was accidentally caught by fisherman and swam to the harbour. The man interacting with it then swam it out to the open sea where the squid descended to the bottom on its own.
