In this video I'll be installing our newly released 23 Pilot front skid plate. Our design is unique in that it can be bolted to a Trailsport or non-trailsport model. Our plate offer tons of coverage and maintains engine oil serviceability. Please note that you'll have to trim small amount of plastic on the non-trailsport models for best results.

Did you try using towing mode when you did that climb? For most vehicles with tow mode, it changes how and when the transmission shifts, sacrificing smoothness and economy for the benefit of generating less heat in the transmission. It may even effect how the fans are managed. I see towing mode as another way of saying 'save the transmission' mode.
@@tomsteadman9520 I've never done a climb in tow mode. It's a thought for sure. I was in trail mode most of the time.
225 is not an abnormal temperature for your transmission. If you start heading north of 235, that's when it's time to start worrying.
@@tomsteadman9520 I understand where you're coming from. 245+ is not good. The temps lag behind and I don't feel like cooking fluids if I can help it.
What kind of tires you put on there?
@@victorlawson9044 Toyo Open country At3. 255/70 R18. They've been a good tire.

Great video. What are your thoughts on wheels, wheel spacers, and wheel backspacing? Also, what 32” tires do you recommend?
@@awshupe5705 I like the 17" wheels personal. +20-30mm Offset is going to get you to flush. Bora if you want to do spacers. I don't run any, many others have had luck with them. I've been a Toyo fan boy as of late. I enjoyed the Yokohama MTs I used to run.

We're about 5k miles in our 2025 and I'll say that I'm not a fan. My biggest gripe is that you cannot accelerate and stop smoothly at neighborhood speeds. It clunks forward during acceleration and downshifts harshly when coming to stop sign. It really shows a lack of power at freeway speeds. And what they used to cover the sunroof... like nails on a chalk board. I give it another month before my kids have destroyed it.
@@shawnterry9709 I can agree with the driving a bit when we first got our. The sunroof cover has been fairing just fine for us. Good luck and report back when it dies.

This is why I'm getting a '23 Pilot next! Coming from a VW Alltrack, which i thought i could sleep in, ended up you couldn't sit up, good in a pinch though. This looks a lot more comfortable and the fact you can leave everything in the SUV is awesome.
@@dwnforcemedia I considered an alltrack about 8 years ago. Really liked it but wanted more space.
Why don't all manufacturers engineer some version of an easily removable front chin? Then you have max gas milage at highway speeds, but improved approach angle off road.

@@BillyBobTup we just run a few level 5 trails in our 21 Ridgeline. Personally stocked that be made it without issues from the AWD.
What Honda Got Very Wrong Is That Gaudy Blue Color. GAK 😮
Yer skeered (kidding) Our 2020 Honda Passport (rare???Black Copper Pearl) elite AWD with Toyo Open Country ATIII 255/60R18 wrapped on some black 18x8 HPD Ridgeline Rims. Stock height, no skid plates but she is more than capable, while being my wifes daily. This model has a (above average) 550w stereo system with heated & cooled front seats & a post possession OEM class III hitch & transmission cooler. I test drove that exact rig you have as it was sitting on the lot while I was getting my oil changed. I know the salesman, so we took a good test drive. It was a nice ride and absolutely a must buy if you needed something like that BUT we have a very capable 2 row rig that packs all of the Pilot in a smaller package, for us. She does Pismo sand dunes ☑, Big Sur forest roads ☑, gets 25mpg on hwy ☑, heavy ☑ From Lassen to Shasta to the Redwoods to O.C. I'd buy another. ✌🏼
I understand that the company put these limits in place to stop us from blowing up the transmission. It’s still annoying tho.

@@no-lodesigns yup, loading up the transmission on a hill will melt the internals. They don’t want you going to them telling them that the transmission was poorly designed. Install a super duty cooler and see how it goes.

Order confirmation was very quick and same with shipping to Cali from PA. Just installed it tonight on Honda Pilot 2019 AWD EXL. The way everything bolts up is precise and simple. I got it with the security bolts and definitely recommend these. This shield is heavy duty and mounts very solid - does not make contact with top cat wrap shield so no vibration noise - very well designed. Thank you for creating it!
