Heat distortion was the risk. However, l plotted that if l nailed the gussets first, the frame would have nowhere to go. And being double gussets instead of single added double the resistance so l was actually very confident it wouldn't move. The alloy top wheel l have should and needs to be flat. The camber should only be on the anvils. The shaft, my thoughts exactly young man!

Well young man, we will find out later this week IF there are any stresses built up enough to cause a twist?

I have worked out that I need roughly 45 bars to install the cross sections if I go down that route. Whilst mesh would be good, it isn't cheap! I have the metal for the bars, they just need cutting and welding in.

@@sackvilleweldingservices bars it is just shows I see different types of mesh at car boot and thaught it was cheap as chips. Shows how prices change if you don’t keep up. I need to research more on pricing. Please mention big price changes in videos it’s a huge help and probably good for our international viewers.

I have put some extra welds around the base and yes, it has curled the plate a little. Not enough to bother me particularly. Green, I had thought of that colour or Deep Bronze Green. Brunswick Green is my current favorite along with Gun Metal Grey Metallic. Pinstripes, not a bad thought. However, you will have seen the coachlines where panels on trucks had a border line around them, that sprung to my mind after I read your comment. It would add a touch of individuality and maybe a spot of class too. Again, this is a feature that would make it unique. speaking of unique, in the next video, I will outline some other ideas I have in mind too!

I have to much stuff, some of which gets used and some not very often. Not exactly an expert myself but I do try to be as safe as I can and economical given the cost. Plasma is fine but unless you have a good genny with big output, air dryer set up and a powerful plasma unit then plasma cannot touch an oxy fuel set. Air arc, I have a Symex torch, some 8mm carbons but neither welder, genny or compressor to run the gear yet.

The arc air torch I have is brand new never had a powerful enough machine to run it either. I did look at the machine welderfabber uses is it sindauer not sure.

We are on the same track young man. I don't know how much use it will get. But it will be an interesting build and hopefully better than the junk on eBay that is very expensive for what they are selling. The Ranalah English wheel is extremely heavy as indeed it needs to be and a thing of beauty but not much change out of £10k (If any?) and they seem to be "Out of Stock" so all sold. Mine will be heavy and not made from cast iron so needs a different design approach. The stuff on eBay just looks cheap box section and at £££hundreds each. That is what prompted me to design and build my own and that I fancied having a go a sheet metalwork. I am going to make a start on it today.

Hello young man, At the moment videos are not high on my list so I wouldn't expect anything for a week or two yet. The next video will more than likely be Part 2 of the English wheel build because I collected some parts a couple of weeks back and I want to make a start on it. That's grand to know on the parts side, I am plotting a few ideas on that front. Haven't done anything much about it just yet partly because the job I have lined up for it hasn't come off yet for one reason or another. Chas my trust GSD and me are both fine, plodding through like we do. I trust you are in fine fettle young man?

Hi, Yes in due course. I got some components laser cut for it last week and they are sat on the bench. A few final tweaks to the design and then the build will begin!

@@chox2001 Have been quite busy but not able to record stuff. If a job come in during May that l can video l will do so. There are one or two l can think of that might give me the opportunity.

Good question. I did buy the panels for this particular job but noticed they were not exactly the right shape so I tend to form my own. It was one of the reasons and made myself a folder. If I had the choice and room, I would have a four poster lift that could clear 5ton lifting capacity so it would take big vans. Until then, the floor is the only choice. To be fair, it keeps me more mobile even if it is uncomfortable, cold, cramped and far from ideal. A pit, fine if and providing there is enough depth to work in. I did a job for a customer recently and the vehicle was over a pit. However, the pit was only 40inches deep and the vehicle was a Toyota Dyna type of commercial. It wasn't fun. As you know, I don't run gaseless Mig. When welding panels to vehicles you cannot really get a good continuous weld bead. So, you have to overlap tack, grind back and check the tacks have overlapped and formed a continuous bead. occassionally, the shroud gets spatter build up, however, when I remember to use tip dip, the problem goes. One problem welding one the floor can be burns from spatter. No means of a fast escape. And trust me, I have burns on my head, arms, hands, neck and chest. But it's all part of the joy and to be fair, it doesn't bother me beyond the few seconds (for a bad one) I am being burned alive. Sparks and spatter get you no matter what you do to avoid them.

Ffs dude what happened to protecting the inside of the panels and turn the welder down

Well that is news. I know nothing at all about these tractors. But what I do know is, that the mudguards need some TLC and the owner wants me to cut out the rot and weld in new. Would I be right to presume the mudguards are made from 3mm sheet? There are number of jobs to do on it, knocking some dents out of the rims, mudguard grab handle to form and weld on and a few other bits around the cab. I will need to make a dolly to reform where the edges of the rims are a bent over. Other than that its a straight example with very few hours on the clock.

Hi Ed, This one steers on the front axle. County converted Ford tractors to order as l understand it, so they are very rare indeed. Top regards, Jon

@@sackvilleweldingservices I saw the steering axle. Pretty cool conversion!! Massey made a high clearance on steel wheels, it steered with brakes. I believe it was in the 1930s???

Well, in answer to your question, l did a site repair of grab, then something else and then l built him a mezzanine from reclaimed steel. He runs a plant type business and asked me to do the rear door and frame rails on the skip plus a bucket, plus get the broken bit out of the manifold and hopefully more stuff in due course. Got pelted with hailstones, blasted by wind and then the rain came and stopped play at 2pm. Returned to the unit to start on a two major patch repairs to a Transit van. Will continue that tomorrow.

Ahhhh well, that is a commercial secret at the moment. I have made two different products and have them out on long term test. One in particular has done really well. However, the labelling is the tricky part. You have to be so careful due to regulations and the risk of litigation if someone buys the product has uses it irresponsibly. For those reasons, production insurance, "green"/safety production regulations and only small productions runs it may not be viable to sell it. And a commercial agreement between me and a bigger producer would be expensive and tricky to nail and protect my IP.

Not by choice, I had planned on it being gun metal grey metallic but my plans were scuppered by the paint supplier. The only suitable paint I had at the time was red which I bought for a job for a customer. There are plans in mind for a revised version, a Mk 2 so to speak. Any suggestions for a colour? Obviously not red! LOL.

@sackvilleweldingservices personally if I built it would have been black but it smart in red tho that should be your color because your vans red, your company logo has red have you still got the peugeot partner van if so paint that red You seem to have a red personality 😂😂😂

@@Badboyyardie Black is a good colour but I wanted gun metal grey and as I said before, the supplier screwed up and time dictated I use a colour I already had. I am not bothered for "corporate colours" particularly. The logo, well that isn't the right colour either, its too dark and when I got some stickers printed it came out looking more like brown so they were just used on stuff here instead of jobs going out to customers. The Peugeot van was sold off last year and replaced with a white Transit. I don't know what you mean by a "red personality" but I will as a compliment! LOL!

Making mistakes is the way forward to learning. I try my best and the result turned out grand!

Its been reliable and strong so far. Been out to a few jobs, the only problem, one of the front castors bent over because I was pulling it out of a workshop that was cluttered with gear and I had to heave it over a set of ramps. Other than that, nothing sticks out so nothing gets caught, no cracks or breaks anywhere. To catch one of those hooks, you would have to be drunk or doing something a bit silly. And we are all capable of the latter!

Well mine has been working hard. Last week I had to replace the air inlet pipe from the compressor to the receiver. It basically rubbed through. Clarke wanted £57 inc VAT for the pipe (now in copper as an upgrade) plus delivery. So, I went to the local plumbers, bought some pipe, two 45degree unions, chopped out a section of the mount and made a new inlet pipe. Cost me about £5.00 including labour, solder, pipe and two 45degree joints. I have well over smetres of copper pipe left for something else, one day!

@@Iruk24 Hello squire, I run the compressor of a 32amp supply. Large blue plug on the wire into a 32amp blue wall mounted socket.

@@Iruk24 my 240 volt version is on a 16 amp plug. I’m not sure what the 3 phase version needs.

The place in question has cards mounted on a rack. You pick the colour card and the machine mixes it. However, in reality I have found that these machines or systems work as hoped for. I now only buy premixed pain with the right RAL code. No point naming and shaming, it is not the fault of the shop.

The pillar drill is on it's lowest belt setting but yes, I agree it is a touch fast. The speed is fine providing you don't go to hard with the feed pressure and add plenty of lube to keep the cutting edge cool.

It was, but only because it turned out easy. It was harder getting the caliper off than the bearing.

Probably do, I don't generally do such repairs so it was new to me. Yes, new setscrews. It is important to make sure you get the right bearing, especially if you have ABS. This one needed the integrated ABS sensor fitted and it came complete and was an easy fit. Not a bad job to be honest. Some people look to struggle and make a right task of it.

That particular was all done. It needed two coil packs, a service and an MOT. I bought at a classic car auction in 2017 and sold it on later. The one I have now, is going to get some attention shortly, well, when the weather gets better so I can either work on in the yard or put stuff outside whilst I work on it inside. Working on a customers X Type Jaguar this week. Have done two patch repairs to the sills and going to do the rear nearside wheelbearing this morning. Will probably video that.

About 6years ago I went to Sainsburys and bought an Ozito drill, circular saw and impact driver with two batteries and a charger. It was an stop gap to get going on a job after my Makita Combi Drill packed up. Both Ozito batteries failed last month. I believe the Einhell brand batteries will fit so will take the drill and try them. If they do, I can but some new batteries and carry on using the Ozito tools. I might even buy their angle grinder because it would be good to compare it to the Dewalt grinder I have that eats batteries for fun.

@@sackvilleweldingservices they just had the heaviest on top so the cart was 6inch wider to stop it going over. It looked pretty good I can’t find the video to show you
