HOW TO REMOVE IRON & MANGANESE FROM UNDERGROUND WATER
Просмотров 94 тыс.8 лет назад
This is a video tutorial that shows you how to remove Iron and Manganese from either your borehole, well point or underground water in order to top up your swimming pool. Remember that the results of this process will produce highly chlorinated water, which is not potable (is not drinkable). This process may not work for all types of water, it is advisable to have your water tested before proce...
Im going to try this sounds quite simple and effective
Perfect Explanation 100% clear and logical. 👍👍👍 Now the big question is cost of cleaning agents per litre of water. Per 100 litres of JoJo Tank. ? Maybe I asked this question before watching the whole video. Is it worth paying to clean water or cost is same as paying municipality. Brilliant Presentation 👍
Amazing Jose. I am definitely going to give this a try. What I usually would do is simply run my well point water for about 20 to 30mins on the lawn. Then move the hose to the pool for top up and add a quarter of metal remover. Part trouble with this is that metal remover also lowers your PH level. One then needs to add soda ash to raise the PH level to the recommended levels again. Thanks for sharing.
The name of purifier iron inside the while how can we remove
Great videos What additional steps or changes would you do if you also wanted to use the water for household use and drinking. Also for garden irrigation?
Awesome! Thanks
Hi there! Your name seems so Portuguese! Are you a Portuguese descendant? Thank you so very much for this precious video. I'm looking for a way to clean my well water near Portimão (in the Algarve) and your videos is of big help. Once again, thank you and greetings from Portugal.
Teach us how to pH water at home to maybe 6
Boss what's pH on this tap water these days and does carbon filters aid in leveling out the pH to be at a reasonable ph? Other thing what do think the pH is when I refill water from PNP or checkers how acidic is the water.
Impossible for the water ph to rise from PH6.38 raw to ph7.79 and then ph8.34 while using chlorine tablets (trichloro-s-triazinetrione) chlorine tablets has got a ph of 3 so it will lower the ph on water and not raise the ph... aeration tends to raise ph of water but you also do not have enough aeration with the little sprayer connected to your system right at the beginning of your filtering process. You want us to bellieve that you raised the water's ph by a ph of 2 with aeration, chlorine tabs and some little filtering.... With the ph calculations ruled out, it is impossible for me to believe the iron and manganese figures mg/l.
I have learned much from the video, thank you very much however, I have some queries and I am sure someone won't hesitate to answer them. My queries are as follows: 1. What is the purpose of sand? Is it to remove iron and manganese particles from the water? 2. Is the sand used fine sand or coarse sand. If the sand used is fine sand, how fine it is? 3. Can I use sand available in the local area or are they specially treated or cleaned sand? 4. In the video, when water is filtered through the sand why is it passed from the bottom of the sand and not from the top? 5. Finally, how often should the sand be cleaned or changed? I would much appreciate the answers. Thank you in advance.
Hi. Does this make the water taste better?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That's great!
so complicated bruh .large space needed..
Thank you, Thank you sir. This is very helpful.
How can the been removed
But sir. Your design is too complicated why you dont use 2 FRP tank and 1 Dosing Pump which can be installed in 3 meter spaces at compact design. If your design is improvise it is okay. But for selling or sharing with others will be look lousy and not looking nice. But Thanks for sharing Sir.
Hello Jose, my name is Gary and I am a swimming pool designer. I have a client in South Africa who wants to build a 55271 gal pool. He has 5 bore holes and would like to know how he would go about it to fill his pool. You can reach him at worldsailor1942@yahoo.com
Jose you from South Africa?
🤣🤣🤣no. he is from Egypt
Can we consume the chlorine treated water ? Is it safe ?
Aldrin Sangm: In America all our city water is chlorinated and we drink it, but you need to look up the safe level, and besides, many people now use the Brita water pitchers to remove chlorine for drinking.
Why would you fill your backyard with all that junk, and hoes all over the place? When you could have just bought a high-efficiency salt filtration system? And made it look nice and neat?
My Question as well... He works for water filtration plant he knows all the suppliers of filters and media... he coeld get all the filters and media at a discounted price. All thats needed is his three tanks, chlorine feeder, a booster pump, 5micron big blue filter, Pressure vessel with resin, brine exchange tank, another big blue 1 micron filter and then his other two tanks for fresh water. 8K cash
why use chlorine when oxygen is non poisonous and more effective?
He sets the sprayer to spray, to oxidise, which is what I think you are referring to. Doing injection oxidization is likely not as easy as chlorine dosing with a Chlorman or something like that. Also, chlorine is technically an oxidizing agent.
:QUANTUM-GRAMMAR-CHANNEL: The best oxidizer of all is ozone, so search for ozone videos. Chlorine is apparently not needed if ozone and sediment filters are used.
@@shandor2522 thats what i am saying, ozone is triplet oxygen molecules, strongest (and only) oxidizer, and natural(what nature uses). Chlorine is poisonous. technically a chlorinator agent.
I wish you were in Kenya to help me save my community from this bore well water decaying our teeth😭😰
@Fortnite Vids Sounds more like a pH issue if its decaying teeth.
Catherine Njeru Ndung'u: Be careful who you listen to, because excess fluoride added to water can pit teeth! This happens occasionally in America by accident, and our water companies will issue warnings.
awesomea and innovative idea. Deserves appreciation.
Hi Jose...Thanks for your video. Towards the end (7:48) where you say to put the cloth in the mesh and put hth on it, and spray the water down...what way do you use the chlorine? Do you do it will chlorine granuals or use split up chlorine tablets or similar, and what amount to use please? Thank you very much...
Are you able to sketch this and write it up? I would like to try this at my home. Also. How dangerous are the elements in the wellpoint water when filling it into a pool?
Thx Jose . Very helpful
does adding alum help ??? if yes..what stage of the process shld it be put
Absolutely love your vid... thanks so much...hv been running crazy trying to sort my pool...gonna try ur way.. thanks so much again for simplifying the process
Hi, can you share any success trying this method?
Are you deleting the iron or just changing the color. Some treatments can interfere with the testing of iron.
Sorry Jose, last question, how much Chlorine do you use in your operation? Half a cup? or is that too much?
Sorry, Just re-listened and you say right at the start you have moved away from the Chlorine process.
Hey Jose. Thanks for sharing your experience with the world. I have just had a well point installed and the guys used half the swimming pool water to drill it. When I had the water from the well point tested before using it to fill up the pool, the guy at the pool shop just laughed. I think there is enough iron in the water to make nails with. His tester went bright purple. Luckily there is almost no salt in it. He gave pretty much the same advice as you but not in the sort of detail you have. Thank you for sharing your idea. I have the 950L Eco tank like you so will make up the same mods . Thanks as well for the idea of putting the clear pipe in as a dual purpose level and also to drain the sediment. I have just successfully managed to process my first 950L of water just using the chlorine sprinkled on top of the water while filling with a hose from the well-point but without the sprayer. Found the top layer of the water covered with red iron the next day where it has been "squeezed out" by the chlorine. A bit hit and miss but it proves that your system works and every thing you say makes sense. Just need to neaten the process up now like you have Using the spray nozzle I have read, helps to oxidise the water borne iron, then your simple system for the top of the tank for chlorine just makes perfect sense. I added alum left over from when we had a tank installed for back washing the pool and after a few hours I could start to refill the pool. I did not use it in the quantity you advise, i just sprinkled a few grams on top of the water. At R220 from Builders warehouse 18 months ago, I winced when you mentioned that you pay only R29 for the alum at Pick and Pay. When I tested the PH today, it was way out which was a side effect I was not expecting until I watched your video, especially after only 1,000 litres in a large pool. I tried to do the same with the water in my 2200L tank but that does not seem to have been so successful and it does not have a second tap to drain the water off above where the sediment will settle. I am going to move the water to the smaller tank and process it there rather. I brought one of those swimming pool cartridge filters from 'Brights' to filter the water after the iron was separated, but it did not work as well as I had hoped. The Iron is really minute particles, too small for the paper cartridge I suppose. The iron just gets through once you put a pump on it. Your way of draining it off seems like the only logical way to get rid of it before sending the water to the pool. A Question if I may. Any ideas of how to modify said cartridge filter to be effective for iron? Just as a bit of insurance, or is draining the only way to go? Second Question. Have you any ideas for a way to test the water at home before sending the water to the pool? I have not been able to find anything on line and the pool shop guy says the kits are too expensive to sell. Would like that confidence to test the water before contamination the rest of the pool and having to find a remedy for that but also not really wanting to spend R2,000 - R3,000 on a test kit from overseas. Sorry for the long comment.
Try Bemlab.co.za they are part of pathcare. They do all kinds of testing.
Is there somebody in the joburg area that can do a filtration system for me? My borehole water is full of mud
Zubair Khan: Sorry I just saw this video and your question! In America the main maker of reusable sediment filters is Rusco www.cleanwaterstore.com/sediment-backwash-filters.html?device=c&keyword=Rusco%20Sediment%20Filter&campaign=372560568&AdGroup=Rusco%20Sediment%20Filter&AdGroupId=1295224914677472&AdId=80951603252723&Campaign=**LP%20-%20NonTM%20-%20Well%20-%20Systems%2FFilters&CampaignId=372560568&Network=s&_vsrefdom=wordstream&identifiers=kwd-80951682281652:loc-4126&keyword=Rusco%20Sediment%20Filter&keyword_session_id=vt~adwords%7Ckt~Rusco%20Sediment%20Filter%7Cmt~e%7Cta~&msclkid=1fb274d20e0f1e27b2992b04a44a8034&**LP%20-%20NonTM%20-%20Well%20-%20Systems%2FFilters&Rusco%20Sediment%20Filter&Rusco%20Sediment%20Filter
Thanks for this great video man
What are the filters you are using?

Heyyy, can you plz Tell me if the borehole water is nice to water the plant like vedgetables
It all about your %sodium and other parameters. e.g. calcium, potassium, magnesium ,sodium, chloride, sulphate, boron, concentrations, together with conductivity, TDS AND pH.
foken genius kwaga
Can you coke and assisted
Great Video, Thanks. I live in Cape Town and have implemented a similiar system to my well water. My pool is full and beautiful blue and I also have connected my toilets to the jojo tank.
You can use a Venturi to aerate the water coming from your pump instead of a spray. would it work better? There are a few good videos on RUclips showing how to make one.
for a venturi to operate correctly you need enough pressure and he is getting 1020L to an hour on a 15mm hose... so a venturi will not operate with that flow rate... he needs to at least double his flow rate for a venturi to create a venturi effect. you can maybe throttle the end of the pipe where the water dispenses but im afraid the pressure will still not be enough and the water will then choose to pass through the venturi air suction side...
Is this water usable for the garden?
Can this be used to remove Iron Bacteria from Groundwater?
Thanks for the video. You gave me a great idea. Anyway, I need your advise. I pump water from my shallow well into my 55 gallon rain barrel to water my plants. If in case of emergency and I want to drink the water, if I use my 1" chlorine tablets, how many will I put in my floater? Or using the 3% Hydrogen Peroxide from local store, how many cups will I put to remove iron and rotten egg smell? Thanks for the video.
Easy Johnny As I mentioned I would like to move away from the chlorine process, because this process does not remove all metals (e.g. aluminium). In order to remove all metals, a new dosing solution will have to be implemented. I have been doing extensive experiments in order to establish a hassle-free dosing solution/system. If you live in the Western Cape, as from 1st September 2017, you can give me a call on (cell no. 079 8018090), I will be doing house visits with my different filter cartridges (e.g. activated carbon, GAC/KDF filters and colour, metal removal resin’s) in order to establish what is the best way in treating your underground water. My equipment will show you how your final water will be, and maybe you will not need to do the pre-dosing process, but only use filter cartridges and how long it will last before replacing.
Jose da Silva thanks for the response. I live in Florida. Yes I will try filtration after I first oxygenate my well water by placing it in my 55 gallon barrel then just like you will filter it. I'm thinking of using 35% Hydrogen Peroxide to neutralize the Chlorine before filtration.
@@josedasilva6242 Thanks for the great video. Are you still based in Cape Town for consultations?
Good job! the water near my locality has around 12ppm of iron. I want to coagulate it by oxydation. Can u suggest some method????If u can share details it would be helpful...
As I said this process may not work for all types of water, it is advisable to have your water tested before proceeding with the process. Get yourself a 200 ml beacker or some clear glass and fill it with 200 ml of your raw water and then put in half teaspoon of pool chlorine(HTH), stir about 3 to 5 times and then let it stand overnight don’t worry if all the chlorine doesn’t dissolve. The next morning you should see a clear layer on top, decant about a hundred ml of the clear layer into a small bottle and have this tested for iron and manganese. Now from those results you can decide if it’s worth your while to take this route. If you had at the start 15 milligrams of iron, and the iron comes down to about one or less milligrams per litre, then it might be worth your while to do this process. Although by having 1 mg/L is still not recommended, seeing that the water drinking standard suggest that you should have less than 0 .3 mg/L, but then you can run this water through filters in order to remove the rest of the iron. By doing it this way you will save on your filters and you won’t have to replace them that often. When I started this process back in February 2017 I only wanted to treat my groundwater for the pool, but now I am thinking to use this water in the toilets and showers but I don’t like the idea that there could be still some chlorine in the water, especially in the shower. So I have decided to stop the chlorine process and use some other treatment process. The thing what I like about the chlorine process was that I could actually leave the water for even up to 2 weeks if not longer, and not worry about bacteria or algae forming, which could give rise to some dangerous pathogens. TREATING WATER IS A HARD PROCESS.It requires time, regular monetary, testing and cleaning of your equipment.
Make chemical oxidant use potassium permanganate+chlorine, then filter the colour with anthracite and manganese greensand
Jose da Silva I insist strongly that the sample water should not be treated or chlorinated in any way before sending to the laboratory for testing! Raw sample will reveal accurately what's in the water. Then the owner can determine what treatment is needed. The water treatment industry is full of overcharging thieves and misinformed plumbers who give advice out of ignorance. There are many videos explaining when to use ozone, or hydrogen peroxide, or plain air (as in your water spray technique) to oxidize iron. Of COURSE when it's oxidized, a filter has to catch the iron particles unless they're at the bottom of a tall tank as you describe--remember that some people don't want a settling tank but rather, continuous flow which requires a filter. In all these techniques, one has to set peroxide or ozone to safe levels for drinking, which are easily looked up. People are even using ozone generators to keep tropical fish aquariums clear without hurting the fish! Ozone should be generated by the corona discharge method, not ultraviolet lights that have very short lives!
Great video ! My wellwater has 15 mg/ litre but was is absolutely clear. Want to clean up the iron so I can use in toilets that are on septic tank. Will the high chlorine level damage bacteria essential for septi ctank operation? How do you remove the setteled iron that builds up?
Unfortunately no, you will have to use some other treatment process. The chlorine levels might be too high and will kill the bacteria needed in the septic tank. The settled iron is removed at the bottom of the tank’s inlet/outlet.
you helped me a lot BUDDY THANKS A MILLION
