Well back Lovely touch with the whistles at Berrylands, haunting but an old friend back on familiar ground. Looking forward to the next run and maybe a little chase

Words cannot describe how good this little layout is, my main reason for heading to the model show at Alton was to view this cracking little layout. The attention to detail is simply sublime If you haven’t already please show some love and give the layout a follow on instagram meldon_west_ngauge?igsh=MTg0Z2N5YjhkOWlmeA Beautiful little layout I’m in awe 🫡

Building An N Gauge Model Railway, Part One: Introduction
ps Its a great system which I want to adopt‼️‼️
I've always modelled in N but recently brought an A5 Flexitrax point. The only struggle I have is that there are not enough closeups of the process in your video More is needed for folk like me, who don't catch on very easily.
Does the paint not get on the wheels and ruin the contacts?
I can't wait to see the outrageous price they put on 'em . . .
Excelent. ❤
Thank you 🙏
No diesel!
Always great to see, huge amount of faith in the loco to run it straight out the box without one, but one I applaud 🫡
Great layout 👍🏽
Fantastic video shot of 'Clan Line'. 👍
Thank you 😎🫡
Just incredeble
It’s pretty special it was my main goal for visiting the show :)
Great video. Like me!
Excellent video!
Thank you very much!
Great shot
Many thanks :)
hat off!!!!!!
Good video
Nice. Those Exe estuary end entry curves could definitely do with some super elevation though!
Nice video. I caught it arriving and departing Chertsey
Great video! I've subscribed!
Many thanks Henry!
@@TheNGaugeModeller You're welcome! I had fun chasing her around West London yesterday evening.
Good captures, I went around the Greater London & SWML to capture 35028 Clan Line
Shame they're upper quadrant 😉
Just turn the sound off.
What the heck does the plinky plonk music add to this?
Amazingly there is a function here in RUclips where you can mute any sound…. Maybe try it 🫡
Lovely layout pity about the music!
Nice video. really helpful and informative.
Excellent..... well done 👋👋👋
Thank you! Cheers!
It’s layouts like this that gives N gauge a better reputation than previously. This layout not only looks stunning but is operated realistically rather than some N layouts where trains bomb around at silly speeds. Absolutely amazing.
Brilliant
very good video!🙌🙌
Looks like Britannia is out of luck I’m afraid because she’s failed
Damn looks like "70000" is on the naughty step again
Yeah, I think they heave one of the worst reliability records on the UK preservation scene.
Nice video!
Narrator: Britannia was sad A Diesel came to take her back to the station the passengers were sympathetic towards the prominent steam engine it was then Flying Scotsman was summoned to take the passengers if it were not for the guard the train would have been far behind schedule much to the controller's delight everything ran on time as for Britannia well that's another story
I hope britannia gets repaired
Sad to see her in that state - It looks like they had removed the piston rod??. Well done for going out - I briefly thought about going out to W Byfleet but it went past there just before 01:00!!!
Helps when you’ve not long finished work, would have been rude not to have stayed 👌
@@TheNGaugeModeller Ha-Ha - Excatly!!
Good job there was a 47 on the end of the train.
Requirement for LSL operated trains as they use more modern stock unlike VT & WCR.
The special fx and muzac detracted from the content.
No music please!
Agree. I for one don't want 'arty farty' wobbling and distorting pictures on the screen.
The poor old Britannia passed away "SHOT ITS SELF***** NO SHIT ITS SELF".💩💩💩💩💩😲😤😩😭
What?
Will Britannia or Mayflower do next weeks tour then?
I think it’s safe to say the Brit won’t be on next weeks tour
Thanks
Poor Britannia.
Mr Reform party got to get his money out to fix it ha ha we know who you are
Time to copy the Belgians, and ban stem off the mainline.
What an utterly moronic statement. Modern EMUs, DMUs and diesels also fail and block lines. Numerous steam tours run every year with the locos often better maintained than the trains which operate on the network on a daily basis.
@@AnthonyFurnival And I make unnecessary overtime having to grab a loco to go and rescue them.
There’s always one, interesting though many don’t want a diesel on the back, proved it’s worth on this run…..
@@TheNGaugeModeller indeed - I personally think a diesel on the back is always a good option - gives more options when they need it - line blocks, failures, route alterations etc.
A Class 66 failed at Factory Junction on the 23rd and finally, with 2 more engines, got on its way 3 hours late. It happens. You may be right, but not for that reason.
and i thought it as in N-gauge, not full scale.
Lol hopefully be doing an update on the layout soon, watch this space All the best Matt
The N gauge model would be more reliable.
@@ds1868 and we thought the 3-cylinder locomotives were less reliable........
The irony that the multi storey car oark on the right was the old engine sheds.
Well spotted filmed in the car park of the former 70C depot
Piston in cylinder, piston rod, crosshead, connecting rod, crank on driving wheel.
Sounds like Settle again.....
Plenty of pictures and video now around of the lack of connecting rod on the right side
A broken crosshead apparently (whatever that might be). Ironic that this filming shows the stricken loco passing the site of the former steam Guildford MPD.
Yeah I have seen that reported, and well spotted taken from the car park that sits on where once the 70c shed was All the best Matt
A crosshead is the slide bar where the piston rod exits the cylinder. Something very similar happened to Tangmere a few years back (and a nasty derailment was caused by the same thing on a Britannia back in BR days.)
I wouldn’t necessarily believe the story that it was a broken cross head. I don’t know the original source of this. It is a substantial piece of casting, like a sideways H, which lies behind the cylinder on the piston rod and moves back and forth along the slide bars above and below as it maintains the piston rod’s attitude to the cylinder. At its lower end it is crucially fastened via the union link to the valve gear. It thus plays a crucial role in the timing of valve events within the cylinder. But I am surprised such a large casting would fail. I think it much more likely the bush attaching its lower end to the union link failed, for example. But it could be any number of things. Suffice to say it is being hauled back in neutral gear - wheels and engine completely isolated from each other, preventing further damage.
@@AndreiTupolev with Tangmere when that happened it hit the 3rd rail.
@@Dreadtower there is a photo of the broken crosshead
I was really enjoying your videos. Do you plan on anymore?
Hopefully an update coming soon!
Well you can certainly talk about model railways 😂
I'm interested in this, however I have an issue, i have some "pizza cutter" wheels on some of my rolling stock and a few locos, how do I convert the wheels?
my issue with these is the sheer cost... £22 for their smallest point...
Just found your channel. Liking the layout plan. Any updates on the layout? Look forward to an update
Coming soon!
@@TheNGaugeModeller looking forward to it
I'm interested in doing exactly as you aim to and use code 55 peck for my fiddle yard and code 40 finetrax for my scenic area. Have you any tips for the joining sections where the two different forms of track meet? Thanks for the video, was helpful as I've only just discovered finetrax and I've just started planning a new N scale layout.
Did you ever find a solution to joining the peco track to this? Interested in doing the same.
