    Good interview. The man has been maligned in more modern times. Easy for today's citizenry to critique our ancestors with 160 years of retrospect. Most of today's men would run (not walk) from the hardship these folks embraced every day. Thanks for bringing light to this era of our great nation's history. The monuments may be pulled down but the facts and heroism remain intact. Thank you kindly, M. Forrest

    The video completely fails to mention how he became the richest man in Tennessee before the age of 40. He sold slaves on an industrial scale. Don’t sugar coat history - Forrest was an incredibly interesting character in civil war history but like everyone else he was also a man of his place and time and acted as such. The real history is far more interesting.

    I pause @ 3:17, the author states Lincoln wants peace in between the promotion of full bird Colonel of R.E.Lee and April 12,1861. I do believe he changed his mind when R.E.Lee turned down command of Union forces against the seceding States. Virginia did'nt secede until the second attempt to resupply Ft.Sumpter. The first attempt was on Jan.16th.

    westerns died out in the early '60's because TV and movies were overloaded with them, it really had nothing to do with violence. That didn't really start until 1968 when both King and Kennedy were murdered. I like Bob but he's pretty ignorant regarding the violence on TV. The westerns were really replaced by detective shows and spy shows which were violent involving guns and fistfights, so it wasn't really so much violence was it was boredom from the public

    Great Calvary commander……who was a grand wizard of the clan and directly responsible for murder of freed black Americans across the south…..let’s not let military accomplishments overshadow who the man was..

    • @zman4539
      @zman4539 Год назад

      From my limited research Forrest was arguably the greatest American General we ever produced. General Sherman called him the Devil! He indeed was the first grand dragon of the clan and very shortly after denounced the clan because it did not represent what it was intended to do. It became the opposite and he washed his hands of it. He went on to speak out against the clan and the sin of slavery. He actually made his views known publicly that he welcomed black Americans as brothers and sisters equally as free citizens: SEE COMPLETE TEXT of his "Pole-Bearers speech" (1875). History painted him unfairly and incorrectly as a racist slave owner his whole life because of his position and conduct before and during the war. His actions as documented post war show otherwise.

    • @Tusky-ln9jr
      @Tusky-ln9jr Год назад

      @@zman4539 you know…I largely agree with your comment. Forrest was without a doubt a fantastic Calvary commander and was most likely just a man of his time….however had the confederacy won he never would’ve given the speeches you referenced. Seemed like apologies from a defeated man…
