Yale Department of Economics

The Yale Department of Economics was created in 1937 with the merger of Sheffield Scientific School and Yale College to form the Yale Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Since then, the Department has grown into one of the premiere Economics departments in the world, employing over 50 ladder faculty, and offering over 100 undergraduate courses and over 75 graduate courses.

87 Trumbull Street Historic House Relocation to make way for new Department of Economics building

The 87 Trumbull Street house was moved on August 8, 2020 to its new location at 85 Trumbull street to make way for the new Department of Economics building. In1807, Yale alumnus James Hillhouse built the house on what today is known as Hillhouse Avenue before it was moved to 87 Trumbull Street in 1871.
