    Wish it was so easy here in Sweden. I would not mind doin the ol changes but how things are setup here in Sweden, and many countries within the EU. Is that you have to come into a certified shop (dealership), to do the oil changes and service or the warranty voids. To add to that, there are many things one can do to modify, but most of them will void warranty. Really sucks. Thank you for good video.

Is that temerature getting through to the fuel? Please get a thermometer. You are concerned about the fuel temp, not the outside of the tank.

    After spending 42 years operating heavy equipment, and now retired, I will say that Cat went from the pinnacle of equipment to almost trash. I've had younger operators argue with me about that, insisting that Cat has the BEST SUPPORT, and I would answer Yes and they need it. You pay for a name with Cat.

    • @theMTNman
      @theMTNman 2 месяца назад

      I do get excellent support from my dealership and I have 800 hours on my machine with essentially no issues. I plan to make a video soon reviewing the problems I have experienced, but the tracks were by far my biggest disappointment. Everyone says you pay for the name, but I have compared most of brands either by renting, demoing, or owning. I initially didn't want a CAT but ended up with one and I've been happy with it. CAT gave me a better price than practically all their competitors. Watch my initial review video if you get a chance and I explain my entire experience with CTLs and how I ended up with a CAT. Thanks for watching.

I thought all the modern emission laden diesel engines were designed to use some oil. I've been concerned mine might use more because it's never loaded heavy enough to really break it in. I'm never heavier than 40k.

    The lock on the window, is to hold the window open at the point you open it.. My 330G John Deere has the same two way windows, and the window lock.. I too can hook up hydraulic lines with the machine running.. The 330G has lots of options like high flow or standard flow, auto bucket leveling, the option of changing the controls from ISO or H pattern auto reversing engine fan, the option to slow down the travel to snail movement if you are doing something touchy.. There are so many more heat/AC vents on the 330G or the 332G, which is a track machine.. The Deere machines are so much easier to service than the Cat.. Changing the oil and fuel filters on the Cat is fairly tight being back in that hole.. The Deere has automatic idle if you stop for like five seconds, then when you touch the control again it comes back up to where the throttle is set on the control.. The 330G and the 332G have ride control that lets the loader arms float a little when going over rough ground.. The Deere machines are equipped with a back up camera and a blue tooth radio.. (not all are so equipped) The Deere machines are also rated to pick up more than the Cat.. Thank you for the great review of your Cat machine.. I hope it gives you many hours of service..

I don't recall how thoroughly I covered the features on mine, but it sounds like they have the same features other than auto idle and I'm not sure if I can change my controls. JD will definitely lift more than CAT, but servicing the 299 is super easy. Watch my service video and let me know if yours is easier. I think the smaller CAT machines are tighter.

    I charge $150 to clean every time a customer brings me a dirty SXS, it takes a long time to really clean SXSs, especially a Can-Am. To do good quality work the machine needs to be very clean. I’m sure no customer would appreciate dirt getting into the front differential when the axle is removed for replacement. Also, a deep clean regularly is a part of any good maintenance plan.

    • @theMTNman
      @theMTNman 2 месяца назад

      Watch my oil change video and you will quickly see that I'm a firm believer in things being clean. I clean the machine regularly and I avoid mud and dusty conditions if at all possible. I'm glad you can get $150 to clean a machine, but I will promise you their $150 wash would be nothing more than a spray down with a pressure washer. It would take 5 minutes to wipe down the areas surrounding the dif and they would be cleaner than if you used a pressure washer.

    Change all to Amsoil...Thank me later. Defenders are very short lived here in New Zealand. We claim around 67% of all world warrantys but sell less than 1% of B.R.P's world production. Gearboxes self destruct, gear shift cable breaks, gear shift lever gating weld failure (just weld or replace), Engine very prone to dusting, steering racks failure, front diffs blowing, Timing chain tensioner failure leading to oil leak (around 300 hrs) All this and more within 2 years. Beyond that chassis crack, Engine dusting. The speedo cluster dies after hrs exceeded. Get rid of that filter and plumb in a Racor Snapp water trap sediment filter... thank me later.

    It's a rubber compounding issue at the Camso factory, I'm sure of it. Every single Camso track I've had, has split on the *inside* of the track right around 500hrs. That's across 4 different machines of different brands. I replace them with Bridgestone tracks, and never have a problem again.
