Which is better? Well Cribbs returned more better punts for TDs and he was a gunner. Hester returned more kick returns for TDs. However the true measure of a returner in how many returns they had for TDs. It's what they did for you on return by return basis. What's their average return numbers. As great as both of them were the return for TD was still rare. Hester had a total of 19 returns over his entire career. That's little more than one TD a game one season. What did these guys do when they weren't returning one to the house? Were they calling fair catches? Were they taking touch back? The true measure of who is better is in what they were doing between returns fir TDs. Who averaged the most return yards and gave their team the most improved field position.

I loved watching Josh Cribbs play, but NOBODY comes even close to Hester as a return man. Not during his time, or in the history of football at any level period. Statistically, nobody has ever achieved anything even close to him as a returner, especially as quickly as he did it. He absolutely destroyed records that were held by prime time himself, in only a small fraction of the time that it took prime to set them. Prime himself even said himself that Devin Hester is the greatest to ever do it

Hester hands down cribs specialized in kick returns yet only had 3 more then Hester where Hester specialized in punt and had 11 more he the goat for real and returning a punt way harder yes distance is shorter but nfl punter have hang time so by the time the ball land in his hand he has 4 guys in his mouth with no blockers kick off they have more time and more people can focus on just blocking

Hester took more to the house. That is undeniable. But Cribbs earned more yards per touch and also made meaningful stops on the kick/'punt defensive teams, which is not included in any of these stats. Hester was lightning fast and if he got loose, he was gone. Hester was a great player, but not the overall special-teams player and fan favorite that Cribbs was. It is unfortunate that neither played for a more competitive team in their prime.

Jack is the most successful professional golfer ever...he owns the most sought after stat in golf (majors won)... however...if we're talking "who was better?" I gotta say tiger...the equipment argument doesn't hold weight with me...its a cop out that could be easily applied to jack for me to say Bobby Jones was better...jack nor tiger can affect the Era they played in... As far as at their absolute best. All cylinders firing, no injuries in their prime...tiger was a more talented player...but jack was a better competitive golfer...

Tiger is the best because of the level of competition and the depth of the pool of talent from around the world. There needs to be a composite score or comprehensive score that takes into account major wins, tour wins, rankings, opponents defeated, etc. Tiger Woods wins hands down if that occurs. Nicklaus wins if we consider close victories or elite play without being first.
