All the little details of this prewar apartment is what makes it unique and feel like a cozy home, an oasis from the daily grind of life. Today's new builds lack personality, details and are very sterile, like a hospital waiting room. It's an awful trend.

I love the butler's pantry. The counterspace in there is just as useful with the dividing wall intact as with the wall removed. I don't understand why people think a missing wall magically creates acres of square footage.

I have a genuine question. As a woman from Florida, I live out in the woods with lots of property. I can bring building materials and tools and anything I need for a project. How do people in apartments in the city get materials to your apartment. Like sheets of plywood or drywall or large saws and such. And then disposal ! I'd like to be educated 😂 Thanks 😊

It blows my mind that renters put this kind of work into an apartment. You are renting... right? I'm in Indiana. I haven't rented for years, but when I did, a renter couldn't even paint or put a nail in the wall to hang a picture.

I also am passionate about butlers pantry. My daughter wanted me to tear down the wall between my mid century modern tiny kitchen and my mudroom/laundry/pantry. I said no. Instead I installed floor Ikea cabinets on one wall. F;ppr and wall Ikea cabinets on the 2nd wall. W and D remained on the 3rd wall and 4th wall has hooks for coats. I hung a watercolor painting on wall one and perched a sweet small lamp on the floor cabinet for ambiance. I love it. Now I have a functioning butlers pantry with storage galore and Ive converted a blah laundry/mudroom into a stylish elegant extension of my kitchen.
