I presume the line is single track around the bay, to the terminal in the distance? Is it rare to get 4 locos at the head end?
Yes single track main south line that goes to the Timaru port and yard to the right. Left is heading to Christchurch.They'll only be one or two locos operating. The rest are just being moved.
Is this taken from your house. Do they keep you awake at night or have you got used to them? I enjoyed my time in NZ. Wish I could get back.
The camera is on top off my house. I bought the house because I could see the trains so they don't bother me at all. NZ is a wonderful country :)

The trains are in Timaru on the east coast of New Zealand's south island. They can get pretty long sometimes!

It's a reflection from the headlights of the car going under the bridge. The 5 greenish dots/lights in the center of the video are reflected somehow from the bright lights at the port near Talley's/Sanford's.
I thought DC4951 was at Auckland

not a single passenger train
We don't get them very often. Only the occasional tour/charter train. Hopefully the Southerner will be back on the tracks one day soon.
I am travelling to Timaru next week and am wanting to make an audio recording of a train passing over the viaduct that leads into Caroline Bay, from the bottom end of Waiti Road. Do you know the schedule of any trains passing North or South through this location? Thanks. "toot toot"
Hi, they basically run around the same time each week day but they're not really on a fixed schedule. There's usually one south and then north around 7 - 9am. A lunch time train heading north and then one south bound around 3 - 5 and then north again around 6 - 7pm. Then there's a few overnight as well. Date time is in the top left of the videos.
