21:8 polyrhythm
Just something fun I came up with today.
As you can see in the sheet music, the "21" is actually three groups of 7. If you "zoom out", I'm playing a 3:2 polyrhythm, and then using muscle memory to divide the 3 up.
Probably pretty useless musically, but still interesting!

Offbeat Triplet (reuploaded with quarter note beat)
Просмотров 2,1 тыс.6 месяцев назад
This is a re-upload of a previous video I made: ruclips.net/video/Kajr8Benj_E/видео.html ...but with a quarter note beat. Hopefully this makes the rhythm a bit clearer!

Can you play this rhythm?

This is an eighth-note triplet which has been offset by one sixteenth-note. Let me know if you can play this! (Or if you can figure out what song inspired this video)

Sixteen autonomous hands join together in this piano arrangement of a Christmas classic! This was definitely my largest video project to date! The sheet music and "click track" were made using Musescore. Audacity was used to record the parts and reduce noise in the recording. From there, REAPER was used to edit/mix the tracks into one file. For editing the video, I used Movie Studio Platinum 17...
Quarter-Tone Chromatic Scale
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.9 месяцев назад
By recording two chromatic scales, and slowing down one of the recordings, you can overlap both to create a smooth quarter-tone scale. (The second recording has a double-C# at the bottom. This is necessary when you think about it: the final recording needs two C-half-sharps on either side of the lowest note.)

Unfinished Thirds Etude (2012)

As a kid I had a bad habit of writing piano pieces that were way too difficult for me to play properly. This is one of them a piano etude/exercise in double-notes using the outer four fingers on each hand. I haven't made any edits to the original piece since 2012, and the only changes in the recording are to fix a few obvious typos. Since I still can't play something this difficult, the recordi...
10:4 polyrhythm + pedal point
Просмотров 2,3 тыс.Год назад
Just a short piano excerpt I came up with recently. With this polyrhythm, 1 LH note = 2.5 RH notes. I also play with a lot of rubato so I'm not sure how precise my playing is. The "main" pedal point is the D octaves in the bass, but the right hand adds an additional A pedal point. I might use this in a piece (or song?) sometime soon. Not sure yet...

Can't wait for your next upload!!!
The higher they go, the less I want them.
Better? Yes. Good? No.
Nothing works without bass :D
Am i the only one that likes the glissando?
is this Sibelius? Can you program it to play notes at specific HZ ? I have final :(((
This was Musescore! I did it manually, by clicking each note and changing the "Tuning" If you want to use code....maybe save the file as a .mscx (not .mscz) and use Python to modify the values. There's probably a better way but that's how I'd do it
@@brycehm Wow I didn’t know musescore could do that! Never used it. Thank you! Definitely not trying to learn python haha
staccato on pizz?
The note sound like you want something rhythmically complex and in to wack key but you didn’t know how to make it work. My advice, find a rhythm that when played on one note, still sounds interesting, then add notes.
Yes that is sound that computes to ear holes.
I’m not super into music theory so all I can hear is a kid smashing random buttons on a piano 😭
This is the worst thing that could possibly happen
I don't understand everyone hating the glissando. I think it sounded cool
Everything sound better with regular beat.
It's so dissonant but actually stable(for obvious reasons)
I hear a lot of WTC I C# minor in this
It's possible! I wasn't thinking of that piece when I wrote this, but I learned it a few years ago so maybe it was subconsciously in my mind
Brooo walking bass is litteraly the opposite of staccato
melody sounds shit both times
definitely one of the songs of all time seriously though did you just place random notes?
its just the sense of tempo i think
this shit is ass bruh 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
Toccata in Leg
This has got to be one of the songs ever
Killer song ❤
add drums!!!!1!!1
Very nice! If you ever want a professional engraver to polish your sheet music so you can focus on composing, I'd gladly help you with that
that gliss is literally crying
it didn't make it sound better tho
Not really in this case.
Facts
What does this sound like shit in general?
The instruments don’t change even with the bass. The bass is cool, but everything else still sucks.
A toofpick changes everythang
I liked the first page wuite a bit, it sounded quite jazzy. the 2nd page however, just kinda fell apart with the glissando and the ending, feels like those last couple of notes were just thrown there
At least the first bar sounds good
No
Sounds like random notes with and without the walking bass
Chief, the bass did not fix it. :/
I was really anticipating it transforming into a methodical masterpiece, but it’s just a bad melody with bass now too
the bass improved it but... those horns are a mess...
that glissando was terrible
pizza
that one glissando
The bass in general is needed just for complete cords which is why it sounds funky
that glissando 🥲
Trash in both sorry
no,
I got an ad for pizza on this video
