DISTURBED NEIGHBOUR STORMS THE WOODYARD! #FIREWOOD
A neighbour storms the woodyard about the small engine noise. A new city bylaw was implemented, stating that no small engine noise is permitted after 7 pm. This guy could have just come in and said a few words but he was full of sarcasm, insults and threats.

SEMI-DRY FREE FIREWOOD GALORE!

I got a couple loads of semi-dry firewood...one set was from a tree cutting jobsite. The sugar maple was rotting so there wasn't a lot of moisture in it. The other load, which I picked up earlier, was from a tree cutter who had a bunch of wood at a family member's house that was originally for sale. Much of the wood was semi-dry and some of it was split and fully seasoned. Check out my other vi...

Hey thanks, I never learned from the pros. I think that the MS261C is pretty easy to control aside from freak accidents because I can control it if it bucks. I have grazed my pants and boots before
Residential area noise bylaws don’t apply to industrial/commercial areas. I hope you’re in 1 of those areas. If he’s living in a commercial/industrial area. He’s the one breaking the law. Call bylaw and have him kicked out. Otherwise if you’re in a mixed residential/light commercial area with residential units in ear shot. Then it’d be on you to follow the law.
@Bdog-v3w his place backs onto mine, above a store front. There is residential. Behind the gas station and church across from him, but the biggest piece of info is that the bylaw game came to my lot to tell the owner of the property about the new bylaw so I'm screwed looks like. But in the end, I don't stay working too late and then have a late morning as well
Where I come from we work until dark and start at day light I bet that guy would have a hard time around here
I don't think he works, how about that! Even though I'm. In the wrong, I still felt like this guy should have some understanding. I think I was disturbing him while he was watching his stories on TV 🤣
You gave him more than he deserved. If there’s a next time, turn your camera on and completely ignore him. 🤣
Ya he'll be an instant youtibe star next time. He wss so intense off the cuff and I tried to level the playing field and when I saw that he was unrelentong, I just walked away
So what if your neighbors have misophonia.. and what if he is not nuts. I get you have to work love it.. it is always easier to see our own side.. but what if?I know when I get home after a hard day at work.i do not want to hear lawn mowers leaf blowers,I get we are all struggling to just survive
Impressed with your patience man. That guy was a real clown. I live rurally in NZ so don’t have this problem per se but most people down my road are reasonable down my road. We’ll chain saw as it’s getting dark, run our tractor late if needed, most people don’t start mowing their lawns till about 10am on the weekend and some will mow later in the evening during the summer. I can’t believe a city bylaw prevents small engines after 7pm. Especially during summer months for people who work a 9-5 and then want to come home and mow the lawn. I guess the big factor is just the unreasonable a-hole of a neighbour that guy is.
Thank you, i am at peace and inweigh things out before i react. Unfortunatately, considering variables is going to be a thing of the past. I think it is another green law intent on shutting down the combustion factor. Even my landlord was pissed about it, he leaves the property late and many days during the summer, he sits til 9 to cut his grass because it's too hot out. The one good thing about this is that it stops me from working too late and it helps my dialy schedule in the end
@@OntarioFirewoodResource now that you mention it yes it sounds like yet again another green law that lacks common sense. I was born in Canada but have been gone over 10 years. The country is almost unrecognisable to me now. Local councils and municipal government have been overrun with deologues and common sense is being run out the door. Yes in a climate like that you definitely have to think things out before you react. People like that are wanting a knee jerk reaction from you so they can use the old gotcha tactics to get you. All the best!
So are chain saws louder after 7pm
Lol. I'm not happy with the bylaw, but it keeps me from working too late and starting the next day too late. I've easily been out splitting til 2am, even til 6am
Shitty.
Ya ove been without interference in my days, I guess this was due, but it keeps me from working too late
First of all do they have a noise ordnance in force but check to see if grandfather in other wise make changes to start he is a bully to you and not polite cussing not good sounds like had to much to drink 6:52
Ya the city bylaw means no small engines after 7pm. I'm not clear on small details, but the bylaw guy showed up last year and told the owner of the property abput it. Before it was after 11 for residential a 2am foe commercial. He is living above a storefront and his back parking lot backs onto the woodyard with another tent in a small lot between us. Prior to all this, I asked the landlord if it's gonna be OK to run the machines late, but it's better like this because I'm not working intonthe night and starting mornings later than I should. He's not doing much with himself it seems. Thanks for watching
@@OntarioFirewoodResource ya the firewood company I worked at was owned by my friend but he had a tree company and his lot was commercial see what it's zoned at to bad trying to make a living and get shot down hopefully landlord can get something worked out to make you both happy see what happens to many complaints and get in trouble just talk to someone at city if in city if in county do what you want hope get things worked out keep us updated thanks good luck
I do plan on looking into it more for a clearer picture, but this situation is piggybacking off of when my old woodyard had 20 full cords on the ground and I was staying up til sunrise to clear up room for more incoming wood, alongside learning video editing and enthusiastically editing after splitting! Cheers

Good show brother, ill connect with you soon. Keep cuttin'!
Ok cool man. Cheers
Last time he was b!t<tching because you were running them after dark? I can understand that. What prick. I have a buddy who is always crying about noise coming from his neighbor. He’s a Kamala supporter as well, big surprise right?
I wonder what the guy would do if you got an electric saw for the down times. What a nut job.
Thata a good idea, the battery saws are getting more powerful as time goes by. He's either sitting on his fake pedestal or thinking darn it, I overreacted again. Either one is not good.
The bylaw does stipulate you can start at 8am...just saying! 9am on Saturdays or Sundays. If he wants to go based on time...it is cooler in the mornings anyways.
Im glad i have that deadline, it gets me home earlier at night. Someone mentioned electric saws, that's a good idea (but not good for videos 🤣) About morning work, the thing is I do my other work during the day, when businesses and the scrap or dump sites are open. Day work is a good warmup, but doing firewood first thing, I'd be starting slow. I do have to start my day earlier, that would give me more time to cut and split. I'm not a late person or an early person, but years of overworking have me compensating for long days. I'm in on Saturdays, sometimes, but more so for non-firewood work. Sunday is fam day
Awesome bud it’s just what I need to hear thank you
No problem! Not as big of a price difference since recent inflation 🤣
Definitely a very uneducated person, and be vigilant around this jack wagon
Tell me about it! I didn't mention this but I swear I used to work with this guy over 20 years ago. I thought that as soon as I saw him close up this time

Way to take the high road, glad I don’t have to deal with that up here in NW Ontario. Take care cheers Mark at the Cay.
@MannistoCay I specifically asked if working at night was gonna be an issue when I scouted this place to move to, and the landlord said it was fine! Mind you, this is a good thing for me because I'm not there all night now, and then winding down at home home and going to bed way too late and starting my next day late on top of that
Are you near a residential area? I know in Greater Vancouver, you can't make work noise after 8 pm . The police here will shut you down NOW when a complaint is made. It happened to a co-worker when they were doing a massive concrete pour after hours.
Residential is very close by, but he's upstairs of a store front
@OntarioFirewoodResource how are the Toronto cops with construction noise complaints? The noise bylaws technically only apply to residential areas as well. Construction companies and municipalites have developed a blanket rule of the 7:00 am and 7:30 am starts. 8 pm is the absolute latest finish time.

@JoesFirewoodVideos it was bound to happen. I'd like to make a trip out to Michigan, but its hard to get the time. Crossing my fingers
You're doing a disservice to the region of Ontario by not mentioning the fact black locust is invasive to Ontario. If you can convince people to use black locust as firewood while seeking out trees to remove from the environment, rather than cultivate it, it would go a long way in combating invasives.
Fair enough. This video is not about covering every base, there is a lot of technical knowledge of identifying trees that I do not know. This is just the basics.
Oh my man. Great videos I’ve watched both of the ones now you’ve done on Chandos. Anytime you wanna go let me know. My house is 5 minutes from the boat launch. Watching you take off and going right past the spot I caught all my pike at so far lol. There’s a weed bed out from the beach. Try there next time before you head out to the main lake or when you’re coming in. Throw something white. I’ve been getting lucky on a white mister twister there right above or beside the weed bed. My 5 year old lost a big one there and caught his 1st this year. Sept 20th the waters a bit cooler pike seem to be more active.
@TiW-u5o hey thanks for stopping into my channel. I fished that area once, trolling though...I tend to go in 20 to 25 ft so I probably wasn't shallow enough. I went there because I saw some guys who looked like they were serious as they had a dark green deep hull aluminum with a 60 HP tiller and outdoor clothing on. I've done very on the northwest shoreline of south bay. In my recent video, that pike was around Big Pune Island. I lost a big one drifting between the seagull islands half way down the east side from the beach and the biggest one I caught (probably almost 20 lbs) was the deep eaat shoreline heading to Gilmore Bay. Puke like the outside corners of entrances into bays as well
@TiW-u5o send me an email (my email is in the description box) with your phone number and I'll call you. Maybe I can get up there soon and we can make a video. -Anthony
10$ a bf and you're cutting it into firewood 🤔.....
I've never heard about black locust being sawn into boards. The thing about tree cutting in the city is that usually they're cut because they're rotting amd the tight spaces around the small home lots and power lines mean that the trees have to be cut down in sections most of the time
Anthony it was a pleasure meeting up with you. Hopefully you get a chance this way sometime. Great time.

Oh man, what a nice place at the lake.
Nice and calm that day, a rare treat. Fishing has changed there, we used to catch tons of perch, then population dense gobies from Europe now litter the bottom and the smallmouth bass are feeding on them and are flourishing in numbers and size. Next month I'm taking the boat to the city of Barrie on the westerly bay where tons of smallmouth migrate to at that time of year
Nice trip to the lake. Hard to leave I’m sure. Watching and wanting to better understand your setup. What is your primary customer, is it cooking wood? Is firewood your full time business?
Firewood is part time, but it feels almost like full.time. due to my amokehouse customer who does 240 bags per year, along with the pricate customers, smoker wood is at least 30% of my business. I do less 40 yard bins woth 6 green cords discounted (customer seasons it themselves) but its better for me because i sell to my fireplace customers at full price. Fireplace customer arr about 65% of my business. I never get enough wood for fall because spring gets busy with my other work, I may or may not get a lot of wood then, but I don't have much time to process it, nor in summer because it's too hot. I do about 10 to 12 full cords of firewood every year and I used to do a lot more. One year. I had 100 totes filled. I'd like to sell more smoker wood becauae it's more than double the price of firewood, but Toronto is expensive even before recent inflation so customers can't afford to smoke a lot. Before 2020, I had a customer who did orders for people at home and would buy up to 75 bags at a time, but I haven't heard from him in 5 years. Apple, oak and cherry isnt consistent for me, so I no longer do logs of it and it would sit forever or someone buys it all at one time. It's not that easy to get restaurants as customers and inconsistent inventory adds to that problem
@@OntarioFirewoodResource thanks for the response. Your boiler wood would be gone in a weekend in my area of the states. Keep up the good work 😎👍
@cutNdryfirewood no problem. I actually just sold it last Thursday and this video is from three months ago. The customer is an hour away and he actually bought 2 or 3 full cords from me about 8 or 9 years ago. I also had someone who wanted in for November 29th upon getting keys to a new property and one other inquiry. I'm in the big city and it's getting expensive here. You'd think that people would buy green bulk wood, but maybe they're acquiring wood by getting tree service wood, trade and barter, etc. I had a customer who bought 6 bins in a row. After some time, I asked if he wanted a load I had just finished and he said bo because the windstorm of may 22 that hammered Nebraska hit cottage country (up north) hard, especially his town, Uxbridge, and he got overloaded. He later called for a bin but then cancelled because he said he was switching to gas because he started to travel a lot and wanted the heat on while he was gone.
@cutNdryfirewood oh and about the lake...always hard to leave...that place is a little easier to leave, not because of the cottage and lifestyle itself, but being so close and fishing there 4 seasons for many years, it doesn't have the novelty of the highlands lakes with less people, a lot more rock and islands, deeper with less weeds and cottages semi hidden by the rugged shoreline and abundant trees. Even though Lake Simcoe is cottage life just the same as everywhere else, this lake is more like a busy beach resort than a remotecabin in the woods type place
Great job, in getting after it. Anthony.
Too bad I missed three loads of sugar maple, I'm now cutting logs into chunks from the totes as I sell the firewood
Anthony, that is a nice score.😉👍
I like when dry wood comes in because it adds to the current year's inventory, which I never get enough of.
Dont know how i am 3 weeks behind, but it's time for me to catch up..
