    • @letstalkaboutmentalhealth
      @letstalkaboutmentalhealth 13 часов назад

      That's toxic behaviour. I'd suggest that you need to either raise the matter with someone else, or you need to find another job (either elsewhere in the organisation or at another company entirely).

    Very important for me lately is sticking to my boundaries. I often do feel selfish and I'm worried about the other person's reaction, especially in professional environments where I am under pressure to perform. This in particular regards working hours. It's so difficult to set boundaries when deadlines are near and the demands are so high. Thank you for the video!

    • @letstalkaboutmentalhealth
      @letstalkaboutmentalhealth 3 дня назад

      Thanks, glad you liked it! Work in particular can be tough because we feel the pressure from everyone else, even if it's not spoken about openly, and the thing to remember is that if you're feeling that then so is everyone else (or most of them, except for the people who are creating the pressure in the first place!). It can feel really uncomfortable at first to push back against that, but the more you do the more you'll get used to doing it. Two things to always bear in mind: (1) you need to make your needs your number one priority (because nobody will look after them for you), and (2) a job is just a job - your life satisfaction is more important. You can always get another job if you need to, but you can't change your life as quickly... so, make your life the #1 priority! All the best. Jeremy 😀

    A QUICK WORD ABOUT TALKING TO HR: Always try to resolve issues directly with the person before going to HR, especially if it’s a manager or supervisor you have issues with. Things have a tendency to blow up when a formal complaint is lodged, and often it can be resolved by an honest discussion. Plus, let’s be honest here: the role of HR is to ensure the organisation adheres to employment law, and they’re employed to protect the interests of the business. If you work in an industry with a union and can’t resolve the matter directly with the person bullying you, I’d suggest speaking with the union (or a similar independent third party) if you’re not getting the support you need from HR.

      It takes practice! The more you do it, the easier it becomes. :) Start by focusing on just a few hours, and then expand to the 'one day at a time' thing; anything outside of that, write it down in a Worry Journal and have a designated hour each day where you deal with your worries (resolving not to work on them/focus on them outside of that time).

      Fair call - I think many of us do if we're honest. But as I said in my reply to your other comment, all you can control is yourself and what you choose to do and say... so you're just going to end up tormenting yourself if you don't learn how to let it go. There are 8 billion of us on this planet and we're all unique, and so part of growing as an individual is learning to accept that we all have unique points of views (and that means there's no right or wrong way to be human). I know it's painful when it's family who you don't see eye-to-eye with, but that should never stop you from being your authentic self. All the best 🙂

    • @letstalkaboutmentalhealth
      @letstalkaboutmentalhealth Месяц назад

      It's understandable to find it difficult to deal with family members who don't agree with your choices, but I'm going to challenge you and say that you're responsible for your own words and actions so blaming them for the way you talk about them, or become rebellious, isn't particularly helpful. You get to decide what you do and don't do, and since you can't control what other people say or do the only real choice is to choose to let go of their judgements and be the best version of yourself you can be. That's how you'll find peace of mind.

      @letstalkaboutmentalhealth Месяц назад

      I'm glad to hear you have support at work, and I totally understand what you're saying about backlash. All I will say is that you have to make the decisions that are right for you, but don't sacrifice your needs (and wellbeing) for the sake of a bully. If it gets to be too much, then you need to take a thoughtful and considered risk (and maybe even deal with some short term issues) for the sake of your longer term mental health.

    • @letstalkaboutmentalhealth
      @letstalkaboutmentalhealth 2 месяца назад

      Well, I know you probably don't want to hear this but here goes anyway: that's just not going to happen (the thing about others having the same emotions as you). All you have direct control over is yourself, and what you choose to do and say... so you have zero control over others, just yourself. I know, it's not pleasant when shit happens to you... but you can either learn from it and use it to grow or let it drag you down. And just because you don't want a learning opportunity that doesn't mean you aren't going to get one. You either deal with things as they are, or you end up feeling resentful. The choice is yours, but I'd suggest choosing carefully. Wishing you all the very best. Jeremy 🙂

    • @echoaris9249
      @echoaris9249 2 месяца назад

      @@letstalkaboutmentalhealth I am aware that it doesn't happen that they're feeling resentful. Why would you if you go around behaving like aholes? That doesn't make it any easier to deal with for the person on the receiving end. I don't think you're giving the amazing take you think you are: just deal with your own feelings, yeah duh, obviously. But most people cant have things happen to themselves and the same day say "Ah yes thank you for cheating on me and leaving me with my four kids. That's an amazing learning opportunity." Pretty much everyone ends up being resentful in the early stages things happening. It's part of the cycle of grief to feel anger. While your video is nice for the little things, for very large issues it has to be solved differently. It's incredibly hard to see being cheated on, having someone die etc. as a learning opportunity.

      Sorry to hear that. It sounds like it's time to talk with a counsellor or therapist; if you already see one, then it's time to let them know that you're feeling this way so you can explore it from different angles/try different approaches. Just remember: all you can control is yourself, and what you choose to say/do. Everything else is out of your control. It's a pain, but accepting that fact can help you to start letting go of your anger so you can begin to move forward.
