Modern Vision of Hemp Fiber Industry Presentation
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.3 года назад
Lawrence Serbin shares his vision of the hemp fiber industry. The mission of the Riverdale Hemp Factory is to modernize the hemp fiber industry and increase yields to farmers. We are developing an inexpensive decortication method which will allow separation of the fibers on the farm, saving money and adding value to the crop. Once separated, we will add value to the fibers by engineering them t...
Green Decorticating Hemp Stalks
Просмотров 2,2 тыс.3 года назад
Today we experiment with green decortication. Green decortication is removing the bark fiber from the hemp stalks at the time of harvest. In the green state, the bast fiber is much easier to remove from the stalks. So easy in fact, it can be done with a finger. What are your thoughts on green decortication? www.hemptraders.com contact@hemptraders.com (562)630-3334
Hemp Water Retting
Просмотров 4,3 тыс.3 года назад
The word “retting" is synonymous with the word “rotting” and is the process of nature decomposing the hemp stalks after they have been cut. Retting facilitates the separation of the fibre from the stem. Retting requires the action of bacteria and moisture to dissolve away cellular tissues and gummy substances such as lignin. Field retting, which is common in areas having limited water resources...
Practice Harvesting Hemp
Просмотров 5093 года назад
When the stalks reached 8 feet, we decided to do some pre-harvesting trials. Cultivating hemp is a new experience for many farmers. With anything new, it is best to perform trials versus being confronted with unexpected outcomes. Information collected will be shared to provide farmers the opportunity to scale up production while lowering risk. Key observation: Hemp is best cut from the bottom w...
Hemp's Phenomenal Growth Rate
Просмотров 5243 года назад
Today we examine hemp's phenomenal growth rate. -At 4 weeks, the plants averaged just 4 inches. -At 10 weeks, the plants were 6-7 feet tall, increasing by 1 foot per week. -At the time of harvest, we expect to achieve hemp plants which are 15’-20’ tall. We can produce all the fiber needed for paper, building materials, textiles, and plastics, while simultaneously removing carbon dioxide from th...

Fiber Hemp Plants Sprout
Просмотров 4993 года назад
Welcome back to the Riverdale Hemp Farm, let’s see how our fiber hemp project is coming along. Upon completing the planting of our fiber hemp seeds, irrigation was the next key factor to consider. We initially opted for a sprinkler system to evenly cover the field without causing any water to pool. The sandy soil, which is favorable to hemp farming, provided excellent absorption. When growing f...

Processing Hemp: Raw Fiber to Sliver
Great video, thank you!!
Thank you for your comments.
sorry but they have been known to grown over 30 feet
That's awesome. Can you send me a picture or video or news report of such a plant? We could use that to promote the viability of industrial hemp.
classic
My uncle grew 9 leaf red hair sins strain when i was young & those plants reached 17 foot.
Thank You😊
yikes. hemp is a small tree
are they male or female plants ?????? ... id hate to live close by if all those were males lol
They were both male and female. But we normally will be harvesting prior to flowering.
2:18 Does this footage represent the amount per acre? Or just general footage of the stored material? Would he nice to visually exactly what that amount looks like per acre.
The footage was probably not an exact acre but a good image of the material bailed up. If hemp is grown properly, it should produce 4 tons of whole hemp stalk per acre. If we assume 1 bale of fiber is 500 pounds, then a full acre would produce 16 bales.
A great video would be to start with a marked off acre as a visual. Then the bales of hemp estimated to be produced followed by stacks of material equivalent of what that acre of hemp turned into. i e. how many bolts of cloth, or feet of rope, or stacks of wood panel....This turns into that kinda visuals@@hemptraders5881
Maybe you should keep an eye on what's happening in Australia because one of our farmers has already come up with a harvester that does the harvesting and separation on site.
Those hemp seeds are huge.
Males always grow larger
Do you guys have any contact information to reach out to you?
Yes, you can call our office at 213-677-2997
So it’s not feasible to grow for dual purpose of both fiber and cbd flower? It appears that it is being done in Romania. If I grow so many acres of feminized cbd flower couldn’t I use the stalks to collect fibers for hemp plastic, Crete, insulation, etc. or is there a better use so that we are using the entire plant?
While it is technically possible to collect the fiber from hemp grown for flower and have it processed, it would not be enough to cover the demands for the industry once it takes off. The industry will not be able to rely upon the flower crops of marijuana or CBD to fulfill its demands. Most flower crops are too small to justify building a decortication factory to process the stalks. And the cost to ship the stalks from a flower crop to a processing facility would be too expensive.
Are the present day warehouse decortication companies fighting this, or joining in with the idea?
Too early to tell.
I see 11 year old vid from an Australian company which no longer has the website listed. Who is developing in field harvest/decortification? You? what stage r u at?
You can call our office at 213-677-2997 with any questions.
ok but how do we green decorticate in the field? Is it one machine cutting and feeding into self contained decorticator. And how do you get from dirty to clean?
We are working on machinery that will accomplish this. Yes it will be one machine and both the bast fiber and hurd fiber come out very clean during the process. The cleaning step mentioned in this video would not be needed. However the fiber would probably need post harvest processing to get standard length and thickness of the fibers.
Это то не ,что нам нужно))
is Riverdale Hemp Farm still in operation?
Yes, we did research in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Now in 2024 we are growing production quantities of the fiber.
Beautiful!
Anyone who still believes the 1930's reefer madness lies are ignorant or just plane stupid.
It is unreasonable how happy Cannabis plants are. They are also stage hogs and love the attention. Simply amazing, like a dog with roots.
I no longer care about any drunk assed guiness world records
Fuck Guinness for holding the absolutely false line that hemp is a drug….big oil has always been scared of hemp and that’s why it was made illegal. It’s all a farce.
How
Does hemp plants spread invasively like bamboo?
Hemp plants are annual plants, so they will die every year after they flower. However they do produce seeds at the end of their life which will scatter around the plants. Those will then grow the following year.
Hemp rope is one of my favorite products for my sailboats
If y’all ever set up an operation in central Texas, I’d love to be involved.
Thanks for the video . Did the combine harvester require any modifications to enable it to harvest the thicker tougher stalks that Hemp has ?
Not really. It seemed to work just fine. However for hemp it could probably be refined.
Congratulations on your record.
this is crazy, guinness world records should get canceled as karma for canceling this amazing plant.
I remember when Guinness world records used to be a thing.
guiness world records are stuck in the dark ages. how shameful 🙄🤦♂
Guinness been smoking to much pot. 😮
Bullshit. They need to recognize your giant hemp plant
When will the lies surrounding cannabis go away? It has been legal and well used for most of human history without issue. It was made illegal to begin with because it was causing some people to lose money. The world would be a much greener place today had cannabis never been vilified.
When I was a kid we found one growing in a stream bed right next to the water and it grew up more than 6 feet past the road surface of the bridge that spanned the creek. It was another 12-15 feet down to the stream bed below so it was at least 18 feet tall and had the shape of a Christmas tree as it had no competition other than some grass at the bottom and the much larger cotton wood trees all around. This was probably mid to late august just before school started again in SD so near to, but not at, the end of growing season, so it might have gotten bigger had we not chopped it down and wrestled it back to my friend's place to show his parents. It took two 10 year old boys just to drag it because of how much foliage was dragging on the ground.
Guinness world record is a piece of shit for that. I'm boycotting them.
i don't know if you can get your hands on coffee grounds but it will help your yeld
Wow, just 4 feet shorter than the last sun gold I grew! Keep trying.
We have noticed that a lot of people commenting on this video claim they have seen or grown a taller plant. We are all for people growing bigger and taller hemp plants and we encourage the competition. Yet nobody ever shows any pictures to prove it. In a time when everyone has a camera in their pocket, there is no excuse for not having some evidence.
No reason to waste time on something soo common and silly!@@hemptraders5881
All for hemp products and fibers. What I've heard is that it is better than cotton
We would not characterize hemp as a better fiber than cotton since they are too dissimilar. Cotton is great for some products, while hemp is better for others. Hemp is much more closer to fax/linen as a fiber. We also blend hemp with cotton to achieve the best attributes of both. Hemp however does have the potential to be cheaper than cotton and better fore the environment.
Ah yes, this was the real reason hemp was banned... keeping farmers poor.. lmao
best crop in the world. God bless yall <3
And Guinness is an alcoholic beverage.
Drugs are bad. Consume something safer and less problematic to our communities, such as alcohol or opioids.
Interesting that they have multiple beer related records but disallow cannabis related records. The health problems associated with alcohol abuse are well known.
I like how the marijuana poster appears at 4:20 in the video. Nice touch. Not sure if that was intended but what a great easter egg!
Wow! Not intended and the first time I noticed.
By they way there's a Grove of 36+ foot tall hemp plants growing in hartsdale ny
That may be the tallest hemp plant, but I promise you it's nowhere near as big as the largest maryjane plant....;)
Dreamed about a reefer 10ft long, a mighty miff but not too strong"
I have 55% hemp shirts, and they wear amazing and dont hold smell as much. idk if thats in my head, or its a genuine effect of hemp fibers, but I really like them.
