The Nomadic Mechanic
Добавлен 29 янв 2022
This channel will serve to document the adventures and lifestyle I have decided to make my normal day to day life. I'll be travelling with the seasons living off of my skills as a mechanic. My dream has been to be able to travel wherever, whenever I want. I've had my fill of living life in civilization, working the 9-5 and being a slave to an employer. I've purchased a 1 ton service truck, toy hauler with living quarters and motorcycle parking and I'll be using them all to their full potential. Life is an adventure and I'm going to live it. Join me! Maybe I can come to your town and fix whatever you have is broken!? Thanks for subscribing and following along!

Vortec 6000 low oil pressure issue solved with a $2 gasket. The oil sump pick up tube o ring was flat and dried out… bought an oil pan gasket, which it already needed and the o ring… replaced them and life is good. Time to upgrade the mirrors, headlights, brakes and give her a massive detail.

The $300 truck I’m going to turn into $3,000 and a new fixer upper…
Been a bit of a mission. So I was running lean at 35 psi changed the filter and fuel pump. Then I'm running 40 psi which is too low and still dumping the pressure. So pulled the regulator out of the back, when to start the bike and it's pissing fuel out of the regulator. So hopefully that's the last step to getting back to full power
Great info and very informative thank you Sir!
The Polish they can and you will be shocked how beautiful the color is. It's a very rare color 2 year only 2007 and a 1/2 to 2008 dirt metallic In 2000 nine, it went to Imperial Blue
Is it in blue in that case? You got one of the most beautiful colors when it's cleaned up. Dark metallic will 2 year. Only cover in this body style. 2007 a 1/2 to 2008 and 8 changed it in 2009 to Imperial blue.
So funny
Ill subscribe when the drums kick in 😂😂
😂
And this is true! Nearly everyday people get caught speeding 😂
Have low engine pressure too, where is this oil sump tube o ring?
Just below the oil pump inside the oil pan.
That's a clean truck man. For 3k, I'd say it's an absolute bargain
Dig the big window.
awesome brother.
Thanks ✌️
Where is your puppy?
Looking for an Australian Cattle Dog (Blue heeler) soon!
Welxome back, boyyy looks like youve been having fun huh
Keep an eye on it, my o-ring was bad, replacing helped but ultimately it was the oil pump, relief valve went on it
Oil pump just went out on my 07 2500 HD yes it’s the oil pump not an O-ring. I completely agree with you replace the oil pump.
Awesome footage! We are doing a video on Colorado roads. Could we use a few seconds of this footage and give you a credit link?
Yes! Sorry it took me so long to respond.
Quick question, does that work with any silicon or you need something in specific, I have regular silicon sadly white color
Usually have to replace the quantum pumps about every 2 seasons.
What was the outcome

Will do Mr! Thanks 🙏🏼
Dont u just love the ones that have never been changed and is all full of mildew and nasty shit lol, disgusting
She fought tooth and nail when I recommended it. She said “I keep up on my maintenance… it shouldn’t need it. It’s only got 55,000 miles.” Yeah well, that’s two laps around the planet, lady. You don’t even wanna check it?!
@@thenomadicmechanic6414 they are the ones that think all they ever need is an oil change lol
@@FluffyMexicanik and a tire rotation!
Does it really work??? 😵
Absolutely… done it 100 times. It really helps when you accidentally splash a little coolant on the belt and it won’t stop chirping. Like a dream every time… it’s not for pulley noises obviously.
@@thenomadicmechanic6414 i pour brake clean on the belt if that ever happens, i havnt had a belt chirp yet 🤞🤞 but if it does ill try this and if it dont work i guess ill have to buy the customer a new belt lol wouldnt be the 1st time as ive accidently left 1 rib not seated on a pulley, steeped away to grab something from parts and guess what shredded.......damnnnnn lmao
I tried brake clean, soap and water… damn thing was chirping to high heaven. I’ve replaced belts before for this issue and had them come back a few days later. Silicone solves it permanently every time.
This is the stupid fix ever, if your mechanic know how to properly work on a car this shouldn’t be a issue
Thanks! Let’s revamp your statement for people who speak English. “This is the STUPIDEST fix ever. If your mechanic KNEW how to properly work on a car, this shouldn’t be AN issue.” Also, I know how to change a belt. This belt was in perfect shape before I splashed a little coolant on it and wouldn’t stop chirping after I washed it off. I didn’t feel the need to charge my elderly customers a $100+ to install a new belt. I put a little silicone on it and life is good for me and my customer. Thanks for the comment though!
Don t do that at home!!
Do it wherever you want… just make sure the engine is off first.
It did in fact fix it… I did not make a video but I did post a video of me wrecking it in the parking lot at work! Go check it out 🤣
Great video thanks. I have a YBR125 not starting, some kinda fuel issue. I've replaced the pump/impeller and also cleaned injector, no difference. Beginning to think the only thing left to check is the regulator. That is built into the pump assembly .. haven't checked carefully enough but suspect I can't just replace the regulator, would have to replace whole pump assembly which is £££. Maybe its possible to bypass this reg in the pump assembly and install some external regulator in the line. Thanks for this its helpful to know about this stuff.
In my opinion, the service manual is invaluable. There are usually cheap PDF versions available online. I bought one for my KTM for $20. It’s saved on my laptop so, I’ll always have it. My point is, you will learn so much from seeing the manufacturers thoughts on the repair process. As far as bypassing the regulator goes… I recommend knowing what your pump is capable of producing because that’s what you’ll get at the injector. That in turn will directly affect the amount of fuel added to your combustion chamber… if you don’t have the proper fuel air mixture, you won’t like the way she runs. We call testing pump maximum pressure “dead heading” or “dead head” pressure. My pump is capable of more than 120PSI… which is almost 3 times more fuel than I need. But, she should at least run again if you can eliminate the regulator and get fuel pressure to the injector. Good luck bud!
@@thenomadicmechanic6414 Thank you sir!
@@thenomadicmechanic6414 If I do bypass the reg in the pump assembly I would put an ebay one inline somewhere. A bit clumsy, but cheaper.
@@andrewgraham1017 I didn’t even think about that… that’s a good idea! If it looks stupid but it works… it ain’t stupid :)

Where u at bro??? I love doing nissan transmissions but on my 94 k1500 i am dreading doing my transmission, i smoked it doing a burnout with low fluid 🤦♂️🤦♂️ lmao how difficult is the trans swap?
I’ve been a transmission tech for years and years… automatic or manual?? They wavy gravy either way.
@@thenomadicmechanic6414 its an automatic
@@FluffyMexicanik They're pretty easy man, I would say the toughest part is removing the transfer case bolts. They're usually a little corroded or even loc-tite'd. I have a t-handle ratchet wrench. Check the size and ask Snappy if he has one. They're about $40. If you want a rundown... HMU. You should be good if you can yank a RE5RO5A.
