And now as of 17/11/2024, we have the Spectrum by Retro Games UK, a clone of the original rubber keyed Speccy 48k, but with 128k mode and working keyboard. The same company that bought us the C64, Amiga mini, and recently the Atari 400. Yeh!

Nice, but, please, music in this game is in STEREO. You do not switch this feature in emulator ON. Music plays only mono.
Thank you for the video! Unfortunately, it seems to be recorded @60 Hz (you can hear how the music is sped up), possibly because the demo was also shown at the party @60 (by mistake and because of quirkiness of the projector) and you might have thought it was the intended frequency. I plan to fix the pacing so it is not dependent on the screen refresh rate in the final version and if you could, I'd ask to re-record the video.

Yeah it got a couple of more advanced video modes, which actually offset the increase in speed since now the CPU has to deal with potentially tens of KB of Video RAM (RTZX Next however is using a lo-res mode).

Смотрел на своём компе, но так и не понял, что хотел сделать автор. Просто какое-то слайдшоу с неадекватным переключенияем на разные c2p на разные видео слои Некста. Никакой хореографии, никакой логики, - просто мигание всякой неадекватной поeбени невпопад. Может на 56МГц там и можно будет что-либо понять, но сейчас даже на 28МГц это выглядит... - никак не выглядит...
Неадекватная поебень показывает как это работает :) Там есть и трассировка "в лоб" каждого луча, и разбитие экрана на опорные лучи с интерполяцией помежду ними. Поебень решил показать ибо знал, что какой-нибудь dragon lord снова будет цепляться, что это всё анимация ;-)

На Нексте добавили в эмуляцию процессора Z80 новые инструкции, среди которых есть MUL D, E, где D*E=DE (8*8=16). Выполняется всего за 8 тактов. И к сожалению, это единственная полезная инструкция умножения, добавленная в Некст.
@@DragonsLord76 I've read for years statements from the dev team that they would like to have a lot more there, but there just isn't any free space on the FPGA. Otherwise they would have put there the other desired instructions or blitter and basic HW for mixing audio DAC ala paula in amiga.
@@gurujoe75 Вместо добавленных никому не нужных команд сдвигов и команд блочной пересылки, которыми никто никогда не будет пользоваться, я хотел бы видеть расширение команд умножения и деления в 8, 16, 24 и 32 битах. Знаковые и беззнаковые. А также операции с вещественными числами (то есть умножение/деление с целой и дробной частью). Разработчикам надо было сперва спросить программистов, а что им нужно для работы, а не пихать в FPGA всякий ненужный мусор.

Shifts have been very useful to me, since there is no cheap way to divide a 16-bit fixed point number by, say, 4 on a regular Z80.

Well... Hello, everyone! I see that the video has sparked interest and raised some questions, even though there hasn’t been an official announcement for this project yet. As the author, I’d like to shed some light on the situation, although I wasn’t prepared for the prototype to be shared with a wider audience at this stage. About the project and its status: Please avoid speculation, assumptions, or setting unrealistic expectations. The project is still under development, progressing slowly and depending heavily on my personal free time. I cannot guarantee a release anytime soon, but I am doing my best to move things forward. The prototype’s history: The prototype was first showcased at the very beginning of this year on the Spectrum Computing forum, where original archive has been published. At this point, it’s just a basic demonstration of the game’s ideas and mechanics. About the game and concept: The game will be a SMALL action-platformer for the classic ZX Spectrum 128k. While most mechanics are inspired by the DOS game Abuse (1996), this is neither a clone nor a port. I have my reasons for choosing not to follow that path. Currently, I’m using graphics from Abuse for demonstration purposes, but reworking the visuals is planned for the future. As for the project’s name, it has not been finalized yet. AbuseZX is currently being used just as a working title. Key features of the game: - Gigascreen rendering - Action-packed platforming - Unique (as for the ZX Spectrum) character control mechanics The control scheme separates movement and aiming, making them independent. A Kempston Mouse is supported for aiming, though it’s not mandatory. I’m also experimenting with an auto-aim feature to make controls more user-friendly. Current progress: So far, the following features have been implemented: - Interaction mechanics with doors and elevators (as NOT shown in the video :) ) - Shooting and collision detection - An internal menu (story/settings) - Fully adjustable control settings I’m wrapping up the logic for basic enemies. That said, there’s still a long list of things to add. Free resources are limited, but I believe it’s possible to achieve a solid baseline while preserving the game’s current dynamic gameplay. What’s next? I may release a public build soon to showcase this year’s progress. Thank you for your attention and interest in the project! I’m genuinely glad to see it resonating with the community.
