I have had a monarch straggler stay with me for a few days one autumn during a sudden cold snap. While we waited for things to warm up, the little traveller accepted weak sugar water I held in a spoon, the long, elegant.tongue unfazed by the utensil. When things warmed up, my guest flew out the window, hopefully to find companions and continue the journey south,
