I find it funny that these books are better than public school books. The public school books I used were falling apart and were outdated.
Hi, are you still using this program?
Hello, we are not currently using it .. we are trying out Saxon math
@lovelessons4192 Thank you, Saxon is a great program!
@@amies8203 we are enjoying it so far 😁
I know you did SCM and HOD. Which curriculum do you prefer? Trying to decide between the 2.
Hello! They are both good .. you can’t go wrong with either one of them, but I do prefer HOD .. I like how the teacher guides are laid out, it makes everything very easy. HOD is a mix of Charlotte Mason and unit studies, which I like
@ thank you We will be trying out Preparing and Reformation via HOD
Thank you! I appreciate seeing it all laid out like this. My daughter is only 1, but want to prepare ahead to buy all of the resources. Lord willing, we will have many more children if He desires us to. I appreciate how CM handles well all ages together for as much of the lessons as possible.
@@marihoverson I’m glad it was helpful! They do have a great selection of books!
Hi! What is the difference between the elementary arithmetic book and the mathematic book? Thank you
Thanks for sharing!! 😊
Was waiting for your video for such a long time! Thank you so much! Love your videos!
@@babysteps201 Thank you very much! I’m sorry about the long wait! Life got very busy for a while .. thank you for watching & liking my videos 💕
@@lovelessons4192 totally understand! Thanks a lot!
thank you so much for showing us these! it's interesting to see what that all includes. it seems really intense but maybe that's just because my oldest is 9 -haha. are you doing any elective classes for your oldest son this year? health/art/etc? would be interested in seeing those resources too but i wouldn't be surprised if this was it because it is a lot for sure!!
Hello! Yes, there’s a lot of books for sure! But they are to be used through out the entire school year, and are broken down into small portions for each day. They are also scheduled to be done four days a week only. So that leaves us an extra day each week for any other electives we might want to add on. And we do add on some health and some Charlotte Mason subjects as well, like artist studies and composer studies, ext
Yay! I was so glad to see another video by you. I can’t wait to watch this one!
@@juliequezada7504 thank you so much! That’s very kind of you! Sorry about the long wait, life for very busy for a while! 💕
The Fallacy Detective is great! We did this together and quizzed each other on the qquizzes We also read The Screwtape Letters together. Thanks for this detailed video!
@@J-Ramos123 thank you so much, that’s a great idea about doing both The Fallacy Detective & The Screwtape Letters together! I think we might do the same! Thanks for watching 💕
Yay!!! So glad you are making videos again. So happy to see what high school looks like with heart of dakota as well:)

Hi! Yes we are still using Heart of Dakota … I plan on making some new videos soon, thanks for your kind words! 💕
@@lovelessons4192 i just checked your channel again to make sure I hadn't missed any new ones! hope your family is doing well
We are almost done with this guide. It has been quite challenging! Great, but a lot of work. Are you still doing HOD this year?
Thanks for sharing ❤.
Love your videos!!!
Thank you very much for creating this sweet video on crafts! Super very helpful! I love all your ideas, resources and recommendations. A note on cross stitch some projects may take a long time when too large and complicated. There are small projects that may be completed in a short time and are very rewarding! Greatly appreciated!
I would think knot-tying is considered a handicraft. At the very least, it falls under scouting skills. Charlotte Mason was fond of scouting skills for kids. Come to think of it, woodworking and basic sewing skills also fall under scouting skills (the Boy Scouts even get badges for these skills).
Great ideas! Love this video! Thank you for sharing.
hello there! i'm a mom of four boys and have enjoyed your videos so much. im a big book lover and have found so many wonderful ones (the flip throughs are so helpful to see what the inside of the book is like) in your videos! I'd love to see any new books you have found that you and your family have enjoyed :)
Hello! I’m so happy that the videos have been helpful, I LOVE books too! I do plan on making some new videos in the near future. Thank you so much for watching! ♥️
This was a helpful video. Thank you
I’m glad it was helpful!
Would you be able to share more of your Heart of Dakota journey? Are you still using them? I’ve really enjoyed your curriculum flip throughs.
Hello, I’m glad you have enjoyed the HOD curriculum videos, I always hope they are helpful! Yes, we are still using Heart of Dakota. This year I’m using Preparing Hearts with my 4th grader, it’s one of my favorite guides! With my oldest, we are doing Revival to Revolution … we ended up not using it last year, because we ended up splitting Resurrection to Reformation into two years. We didn’t plan it that way, but that’s what ended up happening. That’s why I haven’t made a new video in a while. But I do plan on making some more in the near future.
Thank you so much for this review. I’ve really been thinking about trying BF. Does the program tell you what to write in the notebook? I have a reluctant writer so not sure if he’ll be willing at all to come up with anything on his own. I also have a channel and right now it’s mainly about homeschooling. It would be fun to be friends and connect here 😊
Hello, there is a Poem at the end of the teacher guide and it’s broken down into the different time periods that your studying. The students can copy down the corresponding section of the poem in their notebook each day. Hope this helps! Thanks for your question .. I will check out your channel!
Are you reading multiple books at once or one at a time?
Hello, You read one at a time for each subject
How was the Les Miserbales audio? We are interested in listening to it soon. Any feedback would be most welcome!
Holy! Thats a lot of information! How long do you spend each day homeschooling? I thought CM was supposed to be short lessons, but I feel like it would take hours each day to complete all this in a year.
Hello, thank you for your question. Lessons can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 20 minutes depending on the subject, and you don’t do every subject everyday. You alternate between the subjects. It only take about 2 hours a day. Because they are short lessons, you are able to do more subjects, but like I said, you don’t do every subject everyday. I hope this was helpful.
@@lovelessons4192 thank you for your reply. I am intrigued by Charlotte Mason style and am interested in the methods for my own children
I loved seeing all the notebooks! Thanks for sharing.
Hi, are you still using this program? I'm considering it for my 2nd grader next year as well as Beauty & Truth Math.
Hello, we used the first two books in the series and we really enjoyed both of them. However, we have switched over to Teaching Textbooks. My oldest will be starting 8th grade, so he’s been using Teaching Textbooks for a while now, because The Charlotte Mason math books don’t go up that far yet, and my youngest was very interested in trying Teaching Textbooks also, like his brother. I think both math programs are great!
How did the science combination go for you?
Hello, it worked out well for us. The Simply Charlotte Mason science made it more hands on for my son, which he really liked! 🙂👍🏼
Hi, how did this program end up working for you?
Hello, it worked out well for us. I like the simplicity of it. It’s a different way of doing math, but we really enjoyed it, I think it’s a great math program. We have used the first two books in the series.
@@lovelessons4192 will you be continuing with this math and doing book 3? Or are you going to use something different. We would love to hear your thoughts as I am looking at this one vs rod and staff. thanks so much:)
Did you find it was helpful in retaining mental math ?
Have you continued using the curriculum series?
Thanks so much for this video! We are starting our homeschooling journey this fall with my 1st grader and science is the only thing we haven’t been sure of. This convinced us to use Apologia science. My son loves astronomy!
Hello, I’m glad you found the video helpful. My son loves astronomy as well, we have actually gone through the book twice, once when he was in 1st grade and again in 6th grade. He has enjoyed it both times!
@@lovelessons4192 thanks so much! That’s great to know
Really great review of the book. Thank you.
This was super helpful. Thanks for being so thorough.
My daughter did the Exploration Science in 5th grade just as a science I chose for her. It is quite a fun program. She's currently in book 5 of Writing and Rhetoric and also really enjoys it. But I am not sure if we will continue with it if we switch to HOD.
When do you work in your notebook? Is it after each lesson? Do they tell you when to do it and what to notebook about?
I apologize for the very, very late reply . Your message somehow slipped by me and I just saw it. You might have had all your questions answered by now, but just in case you haven’t, I’ll answer them. You don’t add to the notebook after each lesson, but most lessons. The guide is very clear, it tells you exactly when and what to add, or if there’s anything else you need to do, like add to your California map. There is a California poem at the end of the guide, that the students use to copy from when they are adding to their notebook. I’m am sorry again, hope this helps.
This was a very helpful video. Thank you! I have found very little information about this series, so I am grateful for your video.
Thank you, I am happy you found it helpful!
This is stunning. Thank you for sharing this.
Hi - example of what the cards have on them?
These are GREAT resources! Thank you for sharing them😊
I found most of these for free on the internet archive online website. So amazing! Thanks for these. The woodcarving book so far looks amazing.
That’s great that you found them for free! That’s very helpful for many of us!
I buy a lot of my books at the thrift store & used book stores. I also get plenty from work, I work at a used bookstore. My boys are grown & I still read children & youth books as well 😊 📚
We shop at thrift stores for books as well. I think working at a book store is awesome job!
Thank you, it is. I do only work about 2 or 3 days a week there. I still believe in being home as much as possible, I didn't work while my boys were growing up. Being a wife & mother was my calling from God & I was always glad that I obeyed His voice. I do not ever regret being a stay at he mama, it gave me time to spend with my boys. Now my boys are men. I had 3 boys, my oldest one was 25 when he sadly was killed in a car wreck on his 25th birthday, 2yrs ago. A drunk driver drove on the wrong side of the road hitting my son's car killing him instantly (I'm still trying trying to live again), my middle son will be 24 next week & my youngest is 22. Times flies, you blink & they're grown. Enjoy this time with your children, they truly are a blessing from the Lord.
@@traciesandoval2882 I’m so sorry about your son, it’s so tragic and unfair. I pray that God will strengthen you and help you keep moving forward. God bless you and your sons.
Thank you, it's hard but God keeps me going. My husband & boys are a help as well.
Thank you for sharing this. It's seems nice. I will think on this.
Thank you so much for making this video, I have been so curious about this one. I wonder what the paper quality of the pages of the book are. This book is very expensive for a clothbound hardcover book, about double what a premiere publisher like Lamplighter would charge for a book of this size. From this video the pages appear to be not much thicker than regular bulk printing paper, which would be very disappointing at that price. I hope someone who has used the book can reply and let me know what they think. Thank you!
Hello, thank you for your question .. You are correct, it is pricey, but it’s also a very nice book. We used it for a year and it still looks brand new. But the parent or teacher is the one handling the book, not the student. If you have multiple children, and will use it multiple times, I believe it’s worth it. It has been my favorite math book that we have used, and we have used many different ones over the years. Regarding the paper quality, it is not as thick as the Lamplighter books, but it is thicker than regular printer paper, but not by much.
Thank you for your review. Do you think it is possible to complete Fable/book 1 with the Teachers guide alone? the student workbook is sold out in my country and I'm keen to get started. Thank you.
Hello, I believe it is possible to get it done with the teacher guide only, but it would be a lot of work for you. My suggestions would be to either write down all the questions for your child on a separate notebook for them to answer, or make copies of the pages from the teacher guide and whiteout all the answers. The student book and teacher guide are exactly them same, except that the teacher’s guide has all the answers. Thank you for your question, I hope this helps! 💕
How did you unbind the book? Are the pages perforated? I’m trying to see how I could use one workbook for 2 kids
Hello, yes the pages are perforated, which makes it very easy, and for the cover, I just used scissors to cut it off, thanks for your question 😊
