The three-gauge cluster is identical to that found in an Alpina B7 Turbo E12 (which the previous owner of my car tried to recreate), except that on those one of the three instruments is a turbo boost gauge. In my (former) car, the instruments read voltage, oil temp and oil pressure. Pretty handy and cool looking, as you said.

Thank you! When sorted and running they are a pleasure to drive. But ownership and maintenance is not for the faint of heart. It was my first and first classic car, and I was not prepared 😂 I did get some fond memories out of it though which kind of make up for the racked nerves (and wallet)... Do I regret having owned one? No. Would I own another one? Also no. 😅

Sadly from 2030 on all the combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in EU :-( In Germany the Green party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing petrol stations to only one state owned peoples gas station per city or county. :-(

Dogleg gearbox is being put in the car as I write this, very excited! But in the video, it's still the 5spd overdrive 265/6. In combination with the long-geared 3.04 LSD, it felt pretty sluggish until high up in the rpm range. Will post a dogleg driving video soon 😎

Hello fellow Swiss enthusiast! I’ve been contemplating selling my 130i for an E12 528i. Would you daily drive one of these? Or do they lack too much comfort, refinement and reliability compared to modern cars? I had two E36s (323ti and 323i Coupé) and one E46 (330Ci) before the E87, I love the 1er but it’s almost too fast and efficient. I partly want something more raw, but I also do 80 km of highway per day (to university and back…). Long comment but if you do read it, thanks for taking the time to respond!
