Using Art History for Art Inspiration: Abstract Expressionism
Hello, hope you are all well. I just wanted to share an art tip if you are feeling uninspired or bored.
Look back to history and find an art movement that you love and try and create some art that is inspired by that movement.
For me, the New York School of Abstract Expressionists (1940s-1950's) was the first art movement that made me turn my head and think "YES, THIS IS WHAT ART IS".
I used my love for that style of art and created a 10 piece collection of acrylic paintings. This video shows my process. Hope it inspires you too!
♡Thank you for visiting ♡

UGLY ART Sketchbook Tour #sketchbooktour
Просмотров 3,5 тыс.21 день назад
Hello, just thought I would share a non-aesthetic, ugly art sketchbook of mine that I completed a couple years ago. I wouldn't say that it's horrific or anything, but definitely not my favorite thing I've ever made. I really enjoying seeing how other people work in their sketchbooks - are they only using one image per page, do they write in it, what mediums they use, is there a theme or just ra...
Watercolor Swatch with Daniel Smith Colors
Просмотров 557Месяц назад
I made a short video showing which watercolors I have in my new DS watercolor palette. I didn't really know where to start when I first started buying art supplies. Still figuring things out. Just thought I would share a simple palette that has basics, neutrals, and some granulating colors to give you an idea of how you could set up your own palette if you want. I'm sure there is a more "tutori...

Hey Everyone, I decided to film an art haul that I purchased recently to share my experience with the Princeton Neptune Watercolor Brushes. While I filmed 12 of the brushes, there are actually 22 more brushes available at Princeton.com in the series (May want to check DickBlick.com to see if better pricing). So if I didn't swatch the exact size or style you are looking for definitely check out ...

What To Do If Your Art Is UGLY!!! 3 Tips!!

Hey art lovers! Just thought I would show you what I try to do when things aren't exactly going my way on a project. I have many times thrown things away or just quit on the idea, and while that is probably the right choice in some circumstances, I wanted to show you what you can try if you really want to keep working through the challenge. Main Points: ✧Try it in a different medium. ✧Work on s...

How Many Layers of Paint Do I Need?
Просмотров 385 месяцев назад
Hey everyone! Just a short video that shows the minimum layers of paint that you should consider when you are working (imho). This may be very obvious for art enthusiasts, but for beginners I hope this helps give you a jumping off point. When I was starting, no one told me any of this stuff! Would have been nice to know 😏 ♡Thank you for visiting ♡ Stay Inspired, Jeanne

Not ugly. Is your art! Believe me I've seen really bad art and the artist shows it very proudly. Own it!!! You are experimenting, testing different art media, etc. It takes practice.

      @theartofjeanne 15 дней назад

Ugly does seem kind of a harsh word- maybe I should have named it something else - i just wanted to show an unpolished, non-perfect sketchbook to show others that everyone makes “bad” “beginner” “messy” “unfinished” work on their journey, not everything we make is beautiful, and that’s ok! Thanks for watching, it sounds like you understand the experimenting/testing part of the process. I will work on “owning it” lol .

@@theartofjeanne Absolutely. Please keep going. It will be interesting to see how you evolve. 😀 Yes, I did experiment for awhile but I've noticed I've rather watch others do the process than doing it. I must say it was fun and I enjoyed it very much.

Ugly is good. Keep going! When you finish your next sketchbook, go back and look at this one and you'll be surprised how much you will have improved. Love the page with the drips. Suggestion- also date your pages - you may find it helpful later on.🙂

The intention of the video was for people who struggle with anxiety and overthinking and overwhelm when getting started on a project, specifically artistic businesses. I am speaking from my personal experience of being stuck in analyzing and planning and not just getting started, not the experience of “project management” in general.
