By now (2020, jan) you can substitute cordova-plugin-firebase by cordova-plugin-firebasex. I just tried this process after not being able of integrating cordova-plugin-firebasex in a existing application, just to test the process and it worked perfectly.

Hi i am getting below error and app is getting crashed on launch: java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to get provider com.google.firebase.provider.FirebaseInitProvider: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Incorrect provider authority in manifest. Most likely due to a missing applicationId variable in application's build.gradle.
