He probably remembered many violent encounters with hyenas. Once they are full grown and loaded with confidence and the strength to back it up those encounters are only violent to the hyenas

Stunningly produced video. We're doing a trip up to Shingwedzi soon and hoping to capture the bush like you have. What camera gear did you use for filming, especially the long/zoom shots?

Someone was proclaiming on another African video that the Hyena was the smartest of all the predators in Africa. Really? Not smart enough for a lone Hyena to stay away from a male Lion on a kill.
