Charlie's Angels - Delightfully Devlllish Review
Looks like I've got one more film to talk about in 2024 with a film from the time before COVID which you probably completely forgot about the existence of.
Another reboot/requel from the year 2019, Charlie’s Angels is an action comedy that nobody seemed to be asking for. It came and went with little critical attention and was deemed to be one of the biggest box office disappointments of the year, but it’s most remembered now for Elizabeth Banks’ outspoken comments on why the film failed. What could have been another fun, cartoonish continuation of McG’s early 2000’s movies, or just a solid action comedy of its own right instead decided to take a detour into territory that it really shouldn...

Grind - Delightfully Devillish Review

"Eurotrip with Skateboards" is how I would characterize today's film. In the awesome cultural zeitgeist of the early 2000's with pop punk, skateboarding, MTV and road trip comedies dominating the airwaves, one movie came and went without much theatrical fanfare before going on to become a cult classic in the skater scene. And it took me until 2024 to find it, before proceeding to watch it eight...

Oz Indie Film Festival: One Massive Scam??

After a year of being on the Platform Film Freeway and being disregarded or mistreated by a mix of legitimate and fraudulent festivals, one of them pushed me into a several month-long investigation which unveiled a rabbit hole of alleged fraud, betrayal and financial theft at the hands of an evidently fake Film Festival. When the Oz International Film Festival was founded in 2018 by Frank Howso...
Encino Man - Delightfully Devillish Review

Bout time I talked about a Pauly Shore film, buuuu-ddy. A childhood favourite and a cult classic for the 90’s fans, Encino Man surely has one of the most ridiculous plotlines of any films I’ve reviewed on this show. With Oscar-winner Brendan Fraser taking centre stage in the comedy alongside Sean Astin and the Weasel himself, is Encino Man is terrible as the critics say or as hilarious as the f...

Shout, it! Shout, it! Shout it out LOUD! Today we take on the KISS Army with the 1999 comedy cult classic Detroit Rock City, from director Adam Rifkin and starring John Connor from Terminator 2: Judgement Day. In a nostalgic trip back to the 1970's, Detroit Rock City is an underappreciated teen comedy movie with a stellar cast, a rockin' soundtrack and a visionary director which didn't even mak...
Stop! or My Mom Will Shoot - Delightfully Devillish Review

Another Day, Another Sylvester Stallone film. This time, it’s the one he considers to be the absolute nadir of his career. Taking the same basic premise as Cop and a Half but swapping a young African American child for a sweet old woman, Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot takes the mismatched pairing of Rambo and The Golden Girls and shoots very, very low. How many terrible, stereotypical mother jokes ...

Cop and a Half - Delightfully Devillish Review

Amid the many strange pairings we've seen in the buddy cop genre over the years, teaming up an embittered police officer with a small African-American child is one of the forgotten and less appreciated cinematic outings, but I've been watching Cop and a Half since childhood and never failed to be entertained by it. On today's episode, we look back at a time in the 90's when police brutality was...
A Night in Heaven - Delightfully Devillish Review
Просмотров 2968 месяцев назад
I'm finding it hard to believe... this film is the origin of the song "Heaven" by Bryan Adams. Brought to the world from the director of Rocky and The Karate Kid but completely loaded with plot holes and unresolved subplots, A Night in Heaven is a particularly fascinating kind of terrible drama movie. One that I couldn't ignore on this series, and one that has so little recognition that it's te...
Lock Up - Delightfully Devillish Review

Sylvester Stallone returns to this series for the eleventh time today as he combines two of his career defining gimmicks of being the heroic underdog and breaking out of prison. Directed by John Flynn and featuring the talents of Donald Sutherland, Tom Sizemore and John Amos among others, Lock Up is one of the lesser remembered Stallone vehicles of the 1980’s. Idle Hands - Delightfully Devillish Review

Today I'll be delving into one of the more underappreciated films to come out of the horror craze of the 1990's. Combining elements of Evil Dead 2 with a copious amount of pot smoking, Idle Hands is a gonzo horror comedy which failed upon its initial release but has since gone on to become a cult classic. Featuring an all-star cast of early 2000's names including Devon Sawa, Seth Green, Jessica...

Sharks, Oil Drillers and Coolio collide in this gonzo TV movie. In the oversaturated market of shark movies there are two types of films: movies that take influence from Jaws, and movies that downright copy Jaws. For the first time since I watched a screening of the original Road House at Cinema Nova, Hollywood has finally delivered something to the cinematic screen that I was happy I paid to see. Night Killer - Delightfully Devillish Review
I remember being very bored watching the 2019 version. The original movie is very cartoony and colorful, and they made each angel memorable by making them a high school stereotype (Cameron is the ditzy cheerleader, Lucy is the science club nerd, and Drew is the burnout punk), while in the 2019 movie, everyone is the same shade of professional secret agent. They wanted to make sure the women gave "competency" as much as possible, to the detriment of "personality".
The funny thing is what worked about the 2000s is it tried not to be serious and plus it continued where the original tv series the one from the late 70s but evolved and the chemistry between those three no film or tv show can replicate ever and there was plans to continue the Charlies angels franchise after full throttle with a third and fourth but later got scrapped so it boggles my mind for them to do a film reboot when people weren’t ready or interested to see a new Charlies angels trio but there has been discussions from Drew and some people from the cast about reuniting to do a third film to fix it but after seeing what they did with bad boys 3 the best thing they could have done is leave the franchise alone and just bring back the main three trios from the 2000s one more time to think in the 2010s universal pictures and Sony made reboots to the mummy and Charlies angels that no one asked for and people kindly remember the Brendan Fraser one and the 2000s films I’m just like thanks for bringing back two my favorite movie franchises and butchering it 🙄🙄🙄the 2000s trio were a team right away this train wreck had two girls that are angels that don’t even like each other and this woman who isn’t an angel until the end credits 🙄🙄😑 and I think making the Townsend agency the main agency worldwide is like okay so other trios in other parts are more special than the one we are supposed to care about and since when does bosley become important last thing I remember he’s a side character and the disguises were terrible in this like 2000s trios made for better spies than this mess of a trio
@@RodneyDollar the 2000’s was a much better period in time to bring Charlie’s Angels to the forefront, whereas by 2019 in a world oversaturated with remakes and sequels it’s just not the time or place for it anymore. And if it’s gonna be the time then it needs to be done with affection, which it just doesn’t feel like this film had. The angels in this movie were awesome but you’re right, they didn’t have the solid team camaraderie from the beginning, and as such they didn’t feel like a tight unit much of the time. The girls in the original Angels movies were inseparable, and you felt it
I think you should review 2014’s TASM2. That movie suffered from studio meddling. Sony cut out a plot twist at the movie’s end.
Sir Laurence Olivier sounded like he was trying to impersonate Professor Farnsworth from Futurama. And Henderson seemed to be able to get round the peninsula even faster than characters in the last two years of Game of Thrones.
Edit: It was brought to my attention that Tonto did actually say what "Kemo Sabe" meant. Shortly after giving the nickname to John, he says the words "Trusted Friend". I didn't realise that's what he meant, and I didn't think the film clarified that very clearly, but technically I was incorrect. Thank you to Ravnoss for bringing that to my attention.
It’s bad alright the Johnny depp film is way better and more likely attempted to be successful
I agree that the Johnny Depp film was better, but I thought it still missed the mark. Just like with this movie, it took way too long before the protagonist actually became the Lone Ranger. And the Depp film had a runtime which was way too long, as well as too much focus on Tonto. For all its shortcomings, at least the 1981 film knew who its protagonist was and had a more sensibly runtime.
Are you gonna do a delightfully devilish review on Joker 2
@@henrymockingbird9645 there is a lot I can trash about that film, but truthfully I just found it to be boring more than anything else. And I can’t say too much about that.
Tonto said what Kemo Sabe meant at the beginning.
@@ravnoss damn, that’s embarrassing if I missed that.
I just rewatched the opening scene, and I couldn't find any scene where Tonto clearly clarifies what Kemo Sabe actually meant. After he says "You will always be Kemo Sabe" he says "Trusted Friend". And after googling the definition of Kemo Sabe, I see that that's what it means. So you are correct, I just didn't think it was clarified too well.
@@JukeboxHarry69 I guess it is how you read it......or hear it in this case.....like I heard it like you will always be Kemo Sabe, Trusted friend. Like if I said, Harry you will always be El Hombre, the Man LOL......that is how I heard it :)

i think they should've ignore the test audience score and just release the film as is. had they done that then this film would still be as is when they made it. the rating would've been R and the original title would've been there.
I really wonder what the original cut looked like. They spent an additional $10 million reshooting it and the film still only made $88 million in the end so that's still a loss, but the original might have done better. Then again who knows
it is like if the Joker made this film just to promote his side of his personality. if i where the MPAA i would have kept the NC-17 label on it despite the added ADR of the kid saying he's ok.
They should’ve given a jumpsuit for Mathilda May instead having her be nude throughout.
I loved Houseguest. Great lighthearted comedy and Phil Hartman/Sinbad worked really well together in it.
They were a brilliant pair with some wonderful chemistry
Fun Fact: Bob Gale, the co-writer of the film's story & script also was the author of the film's novelization. The Polar Bear Club Woman (played by the late Susan Backlinie) in the film's opening (which parodies *"JAWS")* has a name in the novelization: Anne Barton.
Fun Fact: This movie was my introduction to the Alien Franchise.
@@ejc9536 it’s an interesting one to have as your starting point. I think with its more lighthearted and blockbuster tone it’s less intense than most of the franchise so it might be a nice introduction
I got into 5 in-person festivals after years of submissions with three short films of mine. Finally after the 5th festival, I figured that was a good run and stopped making and submitting movies. Back to my day job, but it was fun while it lasted, I guess. I haven't finished your video yet, but so far it's great and very relatable. No doubt I'll comment again with specific festival names that completely scammed me.
@@michaelpfogerty relatable. The festival scene is a picky one with an unbalanced power structure which is costly for filmmakers. And yes, any scam festivals, name and shame them. Spread the awareness.
Great work! There are so many scam film festivals out there, another headache for us indie filmmakers!
@@uisdeanmurray it’s a nightmare. Instead of inspiring and encouraging filmmakers, we’re challenged by fraud, deceit and systems that seem to keep allowing it to happen
thank you for sharing. being a singer and music video creator i was aware of the scams in the music industry, but had no idea it was like this in the film industry too! I trusted the FilmFreeway platform, I thought it was a professional site! I'll certainly be more careful in the future.
Every industry will attract scammers one way or another, and when the platforms don't take the measures to prevent them, that's when it's up to us to look out for each other. Know what to look out for and be aware. But most importantly, don't let it deter you from sharing your creative arts with the world
This is a scam, of course. A business model based on independent filmmaker fees is a common scam. These so-called micro-film festivals are fraudulent. They want your fees. There are reportedly 35,000 fake film festivals, which is mind-blowing. Be sure to focus only on the top film festivals, which are typically no more than seven
As someone who runs a legitimate film festival all I can say is this is so sad. Festivals like this give us a bad look.
Your work and festivals inspire filmmakers like me. Ones like this deter me as a filmmaker, and from the entire festival scene.
I forget what year but my brother and his girlfriend got to see pauly shore in Wisconsin during his tour for one of our birthdays and he said that pauly was fine on stage but not backstage when he invited them to hang out after they told me that he was really rude to them
That's a bummer to hear. A few years ago I met MTV star Dave "Puck" Rainey who was big on the California scene and appeared in the Pauly Shore film Jury Duty. He said Pauly was "A Loser"; if he's rude to people backstage, maybe there's some validity to that.
@@JukeboxHarry69 yeah most likely
I'm not sure if my wife has seen this movie but I have and it's okay
You should review Summer Job, One Crazy Summer, Mr. Frost with Jeff Goldblum and The Wraith with Charlie Sheen
I'll have to check them all out in time
Would love to get your hands on the other 1980 blockbuster Shelly Duvall was in, called “Popeye”.
I watched that a few months ago and I found it underwhelming. Not particularly good, not particularly bad, just kinda flat. Good casting and solid set pieces, just a lack of engaging story. Still, always appreciate the recommendation :)
Encino Man was one of my favorites from childhood, too. Wow! What a blast from the past!
Good upbringing there, buuuu-ddy
No need to worry about the Korean War not getting any movies after Inchon. That war already had a masterpiece with M*A*S*H.

Even If I don’t like this movie at all, this review actually makes me want to watch it again. I didn’t think that was possible so thank you I guess.
@@meowmeow5131 it might be better for you the second time. When you know what to expect, you can laugh at the movie instead of with it and it’s still an enjoyable time. But hey, if I convinced you to possibly rewatch is then that’s always nice feedback :)
How did Sylvester Stallone go from Rocky to this I know he was tricked by Arnold Schwarzenegger but I legit want to know how he tricked him into making this
Stallone had a notorious ego, and that combined his conflict with Arnold Schwarzenegger led him to this film. Arnold feigned public interest in it knowing Stallone would try to one-up him and Stallone took the bait. The whole film is a punchline to Stallone’s ego
I do not like this movie in fact, I hate Ghostbusters 2016 it’s painfully unfunny it’s annoying it’s sexist towards men by making every man either a making them a coward or an asshole while praising women while the villain gets defeated by zap in the nuts it’s an insult to Ghostbusters and an insult to Harold ramis I would rather watch Ghostbusters frozen Empire a thousand times than ever. We watched this movie.
Hard disagree, but okay.
Legendary movie. Saw this as a kid & loved it! Skied these same runs at Squaw Valley. Fuckin-A
The Ski movie genre just isn’t my thing I guess, but I’m glad you enjoyed it. Would have been dope skiing the same runs though
fun fact john waters put a lot of AIRPLANE! lines in this movie haha
That IS a fun fact and I can’t believe I didn’t pick up on that
laughed so hard when they entered the action theater ACTION FANS HELP US and they go into kung fu mode...and the adult theater "nobody here but us wackers" and they all heavy breathe like zombies toward the guys chasing the film crew lmao.
I love this movie. The scene where Honey shoots the man at the outdoor oyster luncheon that you questioned where he doesn't appear to be shot--Cecil had promised that her gun only had blanks and she was surprised to find out he was telling her the truth.
Ahhh, you got me there. Cheers for pointing it out. Glad you love the movie. It’s easily my most watched John Waters film
yup..Cecil did have his honour
I once made a pitch idea for a "Nutty Professor III: Spread the Love". Where it shows the same glowing blue fountain from the end of The Nutty Professor II being barfed on by a toddler, crapped on by a flying bird, sneezed on by a guy with flowers, and whizzed on by a hobo. Then everyone's germs caused a countless army of different types of Buddy Loves to rise out of the fountain and wreak havoc on the entire city. Sherman hears about this and creates a glowing green anti-germ medicine that is both a miraculous healing tonic and evaporates Buddy if it touches him. He uses it to save the world that Buddy has taken over to the point where he even became president. The nightmare sequence: Sherman is dressed as Neo and the Buddy Loves are Agent Smith clones, it parodies the crowd fight scene from The Matrix Reloaded.
I genuinely love everything about that. That’s the next Eddie Murphy movie I’ll be holding out for
Nice job on the interview
Thank You. Norman was such a gentleman to chat to. Very humble and well-spoken.
And Roger Ebert never backwalked his love of this film ... and Mr Golden himself. Bravo!
As he shouldn't! Golden was the true star of the movie and deserved every bit of praise.
The mission is not convincing because its clearly a moon landing transfered to mars. It would not work. I am amazed you dident noticed the most obvious humor in David Doyles boss role. His two scenes are very funny. The highlights of the whole film. The endings a let down too.
Wearing another mans name on your body, bread and circus you will own nothing and be happy Klaus schwab
