wish these cats would've toured 😢
I found these guys by accident while I was looking for an album called April Fools on Spotify, but accidentally pressed on April Fools and Eggmen instead. Then I listened to Fables and Arrows & Anchors, and here we are. Glad I found them, Walls of Jericho is one of the best songs I've heard all year
such a damn shame they arent making music now.
epic
I will forever remember coming across these guys live at D Fest in Tulsa in 2003. It was mid afternoon in late july they were playing on a stage with 0 shade while it was 100+ degrees. They put on one of the best live shows I have ever seen. I saw them a few more times the following years. I was massively obsessed. They had a a forum for fans back in the day and I was always active on there as a young teen. The last time I saw them was probably 2009 maybe 2010 and they had this small band named Nothing More opening for them. Seeing those guys live was like deja vu Nothing More was another one of the best live shows I have ever seen. I could tell that whole story and how before the show I met them and expected them to be bad since they were the opener and how nice the members were but its a long story.
Channeling his inner Layne around 20:00 onward.
47:31 Hi Andrew! I love you brother!
45:34 badass riff, Cliff-man!
Damn Cliff! 43:11 I love you & miss y'all!
The opening riff on 'Gaining One' sounds like something Gojira would have written several years after this album was released. Sick!
Had never heard Quince all these years. Wow, what a beautifully masterful musical treat. In awe
Don't get me wrong, this whole album is amazing for being their 1st release, but from Occurrence to ..(i).. which is the 2nd half of the album in my opinion, is some the best stuff! Cliff your guitar sounds BADASS on With This Easel! I miss you!
I miss them so much ugh
I wish so bad that yall didn’t sign with that dick from System of a Down… y’all deserved to be promoted better than that.. you couldn’t park in Deep Ellum when yall were in town.. its a shame
Glad there is other people with legendary taste to listen to them
Sulphur Springs baby! Nobody has been listing to this band longer than me.. promise you that
Tell the Vaughn boys I said what's up!?
I come back to gaining one so often. There really was something to this album. I wish they got to redo some of these songs, but ill appreciate them as they are. Still a fun listen
Hell yeah, there was some good songwriting going on from this first self-release! Cliff was tearing it up on guitar!
My favorite FTM project
IT'S BACK ON SPOTIFY!!! ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Masterpiece ❤
I've been listening to this for years but never really appreciated just how messed up The Angelmaker is
I just gotta leave my thanks for this being here, we are finally getting the first 4 albums back on streaming and I'm tired of paying for yt+. Thanks again for having this album posted
Why is this band so criminally underrated they are simply one of the best of the genre
I love the heavy vocals in this version more than the refined version on Fables (drums too)... if only they would grace us all with their presence just one more time. What if they have been secretly working on some epic album this whole time? Evey fan in the Dallas area and every fan across Texas would probably melt like when the Ark was opened in the first Indiana Jones movie💆
Discovered these guys by accident in 2009 when they opened for 10 Years and I was blown away. Saw them a few more times until they broke up and met Cliff and Ryan at the Merch booth at my last show in 2012. Miss these guys
2023 🤘
A Seafarer's Knot is so much better on this album! Thank you for uploading this 🤘
Seen them live TWICE. I feel so blessed to have heard them. Quince seen live leaves tears dripping....SO beautiful, and sang from the heart by Darroh....Haven met him, I can say he's VERY shy, but incredibly nice and easy to talk to. I miss the band, so much.
The first time I heard this I hated it. But like a lot of Fair to Midland it really grew on my over time. As I took time to appreciate the more complicated harmonies. There's a lot of avant garde strange for the sake of strange here. It's gives me more to listen for after repeated listens then some of their other albums.
The mid part of Devil's Inc., where it gets soft, is my absolute favorite part of the whole album. Jesus... 🥺
Tommy têm a voz de um anjo, não à toa que o Kamelot o 'roubou'
You can definitely hear the System of a Down influence here
Beautiful
I wish we could get them back together just for 1 show. I'd fly anywhere. I just want to see and hear them one last time before I die.
I had the pleasure four times over the years, but I've probably seen twice as many reunions in my dreams in the time since they left us.
@@ShamanJeeves You're very lucky to have seen them that many times. I wish my dreams were as pleasant! God bless.
I generally prefer the fables versions of the songs that appear on both albums, but there are moments in these versions that I think are really special and I don’t know why they were changed. That fry scream going Into the second chorus on vice/versa is absolutely killer and huge sounding on this album. The overlapping melodies on a seafarer’s knot during “invoking a blue/that’s meant for us too” and the harmonies to close out the song are excellent. What a band. Their sound is so unique and their creativity is unparalleled. Still trying to fill the FTM shaped hole in my heart.
The fry scream was mixed way too low on fables imo, its barely noticeable
This album and its vocals is getting a lot of hate, but the raw intensity of it is great
Andrew was still figuring it out...years later I can appreciate what their intentions were on this masterpiece!
I much prefer this version of face of the manatee. Way better than the newest version.
This is my SW favorite album
Their best album in my opinion
Love this album. Underrated
I miss these guys so much. Their music helped me at a time where I didn't know where I was going and if I was going to make it. Their so special to me. I wish they knew how much they are missed!
this is sick, found this on a music recommendation account. too bad it’s not only spotify
I love Occurrence so much. It's such a strange version of Mudvayne smashed with a bit of Deftones and a whole lotta weird. Love these guys
One of the best Seventh Wonder albums and the epic introduction of Tommy Karevik
I stumbled across Seventh Wonder by mistake!!! The BEST mistake I’ve ever made
Miss them so much
η προοδοσ του prog metal
Such a shame that this band broke up so early in their career. It’s so fucked up that amazing bands like this can barely even survive because the current music that’s popular is mostly a bunch of shit. There’s some great bands that aren’t quite as experimental as FTM, and they fortunately make enough to sustain a decent income. At least enough to where they aren’t probably struggling just to pay for their rent, but Fair To Midland is one of the most unique and ambitious bands that I had the honor of listening to when they released Fables and Arrows. I never understood why they broke up, thought maybe it was just disagreements from the band or something like that, but upon further research I discovered how they were actually in a lot of debt and were really struggling to make ends meet. It’s really such a shame, because they are honestly one of the most unique and interesting bands I’ve ever heard. Especially the vocals. I was just happy to see that they made so many albums before their 2 official releases. It seems, at least with this album, that it was a lot of demos from their songs released on their 2 “official” songs, but I really hope I can find some hidden gems. Their vocalist, especially, is one of the most talented vocalists I’ve ever had the pleasure of hearing. He had such an amazing and creative voice, whether it was his extremely creative and amazing singing, as well as his screaming or growling vocals which were just a breed of their own. Can’t wait to explore their old albums before their two official releases.
ironically this is the last album from FTM i actually listened to, and imo it's the worst out of all of them, but i still love most of it. sad these guys are gone
Yeah this was their 1st try at an album & if you had heard their albums in the order they were released, you can come back here & appreciate it all!
THANK YOU SO SO MUCH I WAS SCARED I'D NEVER GET TO LISTEN TO THIS ALBUM
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
38:50 the intro alone is a masterpiece... too bad this cd is unavailable to get
Im so glad people are still listening to these guys
I was actually about to look it up to get the CD
