    These cbt courses are for rev and goes only! They are not novice inexperienced manual riders, they sit you in a classroom go over saftey and the highway code for a good hour of your time, then they take you to their car park and teach you almost nothing about the klutch gears throttle it's just jump on learn to stop give way do emergency stops ect and rush you through what your supposed to do out on the road all in about 3 hours rather than actually letting you get comfortable with learning a manual bike. Then they take you back to the class room go over a few more things about being on the road then expect you to go out into the busy traffic it's absolutely insane. My opinion is If you doing a cbt on a scooter go for it. If you want to learn a manual bike try and get some actual training from somewhere that specialises in that area. a cbt is more about being safe on the road, my instructor showed very little interest in getting anyone comfortable with a Manual bike.

But i feel that i failed her. 300km into her life. Turning right on my street that is steep, i pressed the front brakes. She dived her head and jumped onto the asfalt.... i tried to hold her as much as i could and aliviate her fall. Not sure if it's just me, but it seems the amount of force (speed of pressing the shifter) also impacts the smoothness. It's always smooth when i get the shifter lined up with a certain part of my toe

    • @RevAndRideWithChaz

      I'm not aware of the statistics unfortunately. I do know that because it's up to the instructors discretion, it varies massively between training schools. I've heard of people falling off and running red lights and still getting the certificate. On the other hand the place I went to wanted to make sure we would be safe on the road before handing anything out.

  • @Bob-ts2tu
    @Bob-ts2tu 5 месяцев назад

    I took my cbt at 60yo after having driven for 40+ years and rented many (automatic) bikes and scooters on holidays plus a lifetime cycling, so plenty of road experience and expected it would all be a breeze, but this was my first time on an manual bike and while improving quickly still struggled to synchronise everything in the short time we had, i think i was trying to do it all too perfectly. on top of that it was real hot day and i was pretty hot and bothered. when we got on the road the instructor said he couldnt issue me the certificate because he didnt think i was safe, and i needed further training, and sadly i knew he was right, but i also knew it was just a bit more practice needed, so i went out a few weeks later on an automatic taking the gears out of the equation and pretty much aced it. i then bought a 125, with the intention of setting off real early and practicing in a supermarket car park, but when i got there at 6am, had made decent gear changes so just carried on up the dales, and an hour later wasnt having any issues at all, so id say to anyone don't get disheartend if you struggle a bit to start with, it's just a new skill to learn and you should get there pretty easily if you want to. It's well worth persevering, i love motorbiking, took a year to learn & gain experience clocking up 10k miles, then did a DAS & now have a full licence, just recently buying my first 'big boys' bike, & love it, im addicted now !!. I did my CBT yesterday and I was struggling with changing to 2nd gear without going into Neutral as I could put feel the gear lever with my motorcycle boots. It also took me a few tries to stop smoothly and not suddenly. My steering was tight according to the instructor and because of the steep learning curve with operating a manual motorcycle, I could not go out on the road and have to go back for further training. Maybe I’ll go for automatic transmission as that’s somewhat easier to control.

    Just taken delivery of my new cb750 too as a first big bike, and after watching dozen's of YT video's i had a few minor concerns and reservations, but within 5 minutes realised there just wasn't any need as it's so easy & fun to ride in the lanes especially, steering is great, and it has wicked accelleration if you want it, but still pretty easy to control at low speed in traffic, not as snatchy as some people alluded to. I planned on keeping it in rain mode for a while till i got used to it, but that plan lasted less than 30 mins till i started playing :). I love it, and glad i got instead of a cb500f coz i'd always have wondered just how much of a difference there was, but know i made the right call. GL and stay safe.
