Can the Derivatives Market Possibly Unwind the System as David Webb says in #thegreattaking ?
Просмотров 5046 месяцев назад
David Webb needs a mechanism for broad bank insolvencies in order for his argument to work. He generally refers to a derivatives complex so large that it must be larger than the total collateral. But does what he is saying even seem reasonable? To answer this we need to know the size of the derivatives complex, the value of real assets, and how derivatives work. This is a critical piece of Davi...

David Webb's thesis is compelling because of his sources, alarming because of his conclusions, yet confusing because he speaks of aspects of finance that are obscure. For example, central clearing houses, the risk of the derivatives complex, and the surrounding events related to the formation of the Federal Reserve Act of 1913. These topics are not taught in finance programs, CFA, CMA, CPA (per...

Made my money back from Moderna. If they go back close to their 52 week high I’ll be more than happy to sell.
Obviously there is big news that is not out yet, funds and institutions are dumping big time and fast. I have to assume a massive lawsuit is underway.
That’s really interesting- it hasn’t occurred to me that someone would be sitting on a lawsuit waiting for a favorable environment. And yes- retail investors seem to get be the ones getting the news last 📰 I was was shocked about the number of days the shares fell 5%+ over the last two weeks.
Thanks foe the video. I've been looking at moderna since 3 months, trying to wait for the "bottom". I do believe that it's a great opportunity
Be careful while this thing is a falling knife. Hard to pick a bottom under $30 imo. Next week should be interesting.
@PremierStudyandInvesting point taken. It's not great that there is more uncertainty in the air. Anyway, I'm a strong believer in their pipeline for the next 4/5 years, but they may run out of cash or face strong anti vax sentiment...
Wow the igg4 thing blew my mind because I see why companies hate negative press. I just got into investing and actually enjoy it and wanna be great at it and investing has opened my eyes to things that go on around me. Pretty fascinating
I saw they reached their record low and bought them Friday and they dropped from $47 (when I bought) to $43 and I kinda wanna buy again
I agree this is a massive over reaction to RFK
Good video buddy.Did you get chance to listen to Modernas ceo at PIF ( PUBLIC INVESTMENT FUND SAUDIARABIA). It's interesting.
How true: we would generally want to report when up. Myself also. GLD was a big position about Q2 from you, and did really well. There have been well meaning advisors shorting oil. I don't short: above my risk. Another way to do that is hold both gold & oil assets. With big war risks, they both go up. With big economic risks, they tend to offset each other.
It was nice to have a system in place since stock picking and shorting the last couple years have not gone well in my other portfolio. I really thought that I needed to go back to something more based on what I had learned. However being down almost 9% on a portfolio with an expected return of 12% was rough- having such a small amount of money in there it was a lot easier to stay the course and not switch strategies (and I wonder if I would have had the faith to stay with it if more money was invested). Certainly interesting to apply the theory and then see how it performed. I expect that TLT will perform well as interest rates drop in 2025. I have been in the recession camp for a couple years- so the TLT bet is assuming interest rates continue to cut and the economy slows as the long term part of the curve is more related to the economy. I’m not sure why interest rates increased this week though. Interesting- about oil and gold. Maybe I will do a vid on the correlation of those two.
@@PremierStudyandInvesting Bond rate moves are confusing right now. There seems to be something at the high factional systemic level going on. If you want to, a correlation look at oil with gold would be interesting. And you are the 'Data Analytics guy' in my list of sources. Also thanks for your prior look at liquidity risk w/r to The Great Taking talk. Along with others, it led me to the view there is enough liquidity still available in the USA to survive and bailout a major crisis probably two.
@@PremierStudyandInvesting PS Talked with a vg tech savvy friend. Like me and a lot of Gen X, we once had careers. His in tech [IBM]. I described what I learned from you about data analytics with follow up questions. He concurred. A way if available to get into a company and move up if you're younger (we're in our 50's so no go). As you postulated, once you know the data analytics of a company, your value is intrinsic and should be promoted. A valid upside career path in his view too.
You asked the right question, but you didn’t go far enough to get the answer. You didn’t notice that for SVB there weren’t loses to depositors above the FDIC insured amount, because the Fed poured money into the bank to make the depositors whole. It was illegal, but they did it so that there wouldn’t be a run on every bank, AND because the whale depositors who would have lost there deposits are part of the system that props up and runs the entire banking and governmental system.
Hi 👋. You are correct- I do not know much about the details of SVB. It seems SVB was primarily used by hedge funds investing in Silicon Valley startup- so these are the whales you describe and I think everyone would agree with you there. The Google aI has made it easy to find a bunch of links of what you are saying and the “bailout” by backstopping the situation, providing emergency liquidity etc etc. I didn’t know that. I thought they were bought up by other banks as I showed in the photos, but your point is important. Thank you 🙏🏻

Three card montee organizers in NYC and pool hall hustlers seem to graduate to wearing shark suits and go hang out at GenWorth. Raising "premiums" not originally stated on long time contracts with policy holders, blase, sloth like customer relations in handling urgent issues of care all while hiding under the most shadowy of Houdini legal contract escape "phrases' that runs counter to the "feel good advertising." Numerous online complaints against this company on message boards for seeming deceptive delays in "claims processing", unanticipated long term "contract" premium increases, and a seeming weaselly, as well as pig in the mud ethos. Why does this company even pretend to be a "long term care provider" instead of just hanging out a sign at a smoky honky tonk pool room that says. "open for business." Caveat emptor please!!!!!!!!!! unless you are wearing a shark suit, have bear spray, or have a pack of pit bulls to help you, and even then consider runnnnnnning away. with bolting speed. Just check out Consumer Reports complaints about GenWorth and make your own opinion. After doing your own research, on complaints and corporate pr responses see if you don't agree with avoiding giving this company any business unless you like companies where the office watering "cooler" might figuratively be a shark tank. Please please be very careful and use caveat emptor as if you are swimming with sharks. An opinion it seems shared by numerous other irate "customers/pool hall marks"???" on Consumer Report boards.
Those job numbers are false. I know speaking for myself - I remain unemployed and in poverty, homelessness, being unable to drive, and increasing medical debt. I disagree with your Florida friend who basically thinks community is the answer and honestly, I don’t want people meddling in my family affairs. People need to mind their own business.
That sounds so difficult to overcome those things… don’t give up. Hopefully a good opportunity and good connections will be made for the future 🙏🏻
Imagine of the futures market for gold went up 20, 30 40 percent and maybe even many decided to stand for delivery. Then imagine the holders of options on those gold futures decided to exercise their rights and recieve the actual futures contract . Haha financial nuclear bomb. It's coming. @@Mr0rris0 on gold and silver markets. ??? I wrote that in the sentence. Do you have a question?
How are things like bitcoin and gold not the beads they are... And the crude thing with pandemic? What did it take to get that oil price normal and what's with gold and this climate esg stuff. How can you call bitcoin pure energy and just ignore a big black hole? Turning everyone's money into the peso via printing doesn't help either. Yet the world has a cash shortage at the same time there's too much money.... Yay apples pile of cash? It has to be done 😂 How about that if elon gets Into doge and raises the price for you he did that and you are his. Such is not the case when China does that to your gold for king and country? What are they going to do if you ban currency hedges via real estate... Nobody seems so innocent....

I posted this question on the Great Taking Documentary: David's argument needs a mechanism for a mass insolvency. It's easy to say well, look what happened in 2008-2009, obviously it could happen again. Okay yes but, I think we should be able to explain it on a deeper level than David does in this film. We need part 2 or a Q&A session. I found that most of the derivatives market (80%-90%) is in the forex or foreign exchange sector. Assuming there is an intentional market disruption as he argues, how would that create massive disruptions in currency pairs? The MEX/EUR or CAD/USD or YEN/AUD... why would we think that an exogenous shock would only affect one currency? Currency pairs strengthen and weaken against each other. This is different from a global equity sell off where all markets could go down at the same time. With currencies, if the the yen weakens the other major currencies would strengthen. You can't really have a broad weakening of all the major currencies pairs at the same time. Therefore, wouldn't it make more sense that the currency pairs would be more or less unchanged if a bad event in one country sort of effects everyone in a globally connected market? I'm actually not well versed in the forces that cause currencies to strengthen or weaken. It would be great to hear some thoughts on this. Perhaps Forex derivatives are not necessary for David's argument to hold. Perhaps equity or commodity derivatives (tiny by comparison) are enough to do the job, but if this is the case they should stop talking about the 2 quadrillion of derivatives and be more specific in the mechanism. There do not seem to be an outrageous level of notional value of derivatives sitting on top of equity or commodities. Equity derivatives notional value is 20 Trillion on 92 Trillion of Global equity. That shouldn't be a huge problem. The global commodities assets are estimated on statista at 131.3 Trillion with ~ 10 Trillion in nominal derivatives riding on it. Finally it seems very difficult for the payout of a stock option to come close to reaching the notional value of the contract. For puts you need the price of the underlying to go to zero for a payout equal to the notional value of the contract. For calls you need the price to be 2x the strike in order for the payout to equal the notional value. What did I get wrong? Just a suggestion if there is a remake or for future podcasts. Thanks.
I just learned a bunch of stuff on topics Ive spent hundreds of hours on
Trades like plumbing, electrical etc are good to learn. You can take that knowledge with you anywhere.
Try telling that to those who are leaving trade jobs and exposing the corruption and health hazards, including deaths caused by, within those industries.
I was thinking more like independent plumbers that have their own business and come to install a faucet type of thing.
Gold and silver I believe are the only answer. I've read Ray Dalio's book Principals for dealing with the Changing World order. I've read chapter 6 over and over and that's the conclusion I've come to.
I don't know if David was serious but in his testimony he said he was going to look at buying property in TN after the passing of the bill.
I saw the hearing at the subcommittee in Tennessee. Nice to hear the other lawyer to see there are others with David’s concern. Gold and silver make sense. Stable coin maybe? Yeah- I’m not a person who has skills where I can do my own thing like a trades person. I tried to do the website, course and RUclips channel, but it’s been rough. Hmm Dalio- chapter 6. Good to know.
The bill did not pass. Was sent to summer study within the committee. Essentially killed the bill.
@@jap3270 yeah, I heard that. Depressing but I should not have been surprised. These people are powerful, very powerful and wouldn't give up in all the work and preparation of the many years to put this in place.
Just look what is going on in the world (Gaza, Ukraine etc) to know if some people can be evil. It's baffling and I thought we had advanced as a society, but sadly we haven't.

Watch Can TENNESSE Stop The GREAT TAKING?! | State Legislature Hearing. David was a speaker.
Excellent description of these 3 downturn outlooks - related to the actual current fiscal conditions and likelihoods. Helpful.
This David Webb information is hard to accept. I see some podcasts have interviewed him or covered his book but no one seems willing follow him to his conclusion. The next day is a new video about TradFi investing and the economy. I am finding it somewhat of a challenge to accept (I shouldn’t be surprised his thesis rests on obscure documents) but the document are not easily verifiable or understood. Also who can determine the risk associated with the global derivatives markets, as this is central to David’s conclusion. How much bank exposure is there to derivatives trading? How do we know that the DTCC is thinly capitalized as he says. Describing their views seems easier than verifying their assumptions.
@@PremierStudyandInvesting I just watched your latest post. I look forward to any follow up discussions and have shared your Channel. I find you are connecting actual information with different hypotheses that makes sense. (if you learn more on the state of the global derivatives market that would be really interesting too) A lot of people make big statements without supporting data or even supporting motives. This can become ideological. The Great Taking could happen, but after hearing the summary from yourself and another person who actually did backchecking, it is more likely a great story for the novel genre, perhaps like a current iteration of Hal Lindsay. An indirect comparison I happened to read from a meeting last year was from a CEO of a growing mid-sized ocean shipping company. He was asked what if an all out war with China occurred. He said then everything we're talking about today doesn't matter. In my current view, The Great Taking leads to the same outcome. It also presumes in the midst of a period of calamity - which is nothing new - those on top would be ruined as well. Now that would be new. A fun metaphor that comes to mind is Bill Gates in the ring with boxing gloves going at it to the bloody end with Schwab. Elon Musk is yelling from the bars at both of them, and Jamie Dimon is seated watching the whole thing in his underwear cuz he's broke. In an empty stadium without coverage since the internet is destroyed and the audience can't afford to buy tickets.
Worst decision I ever made with genworth. I cancelled after few years of paying because of big rate increase. Was given the option to keep policy active that will pay me benefits until p the the total premiums I paid. Recently elected to receive $1500 settlement.
Sorry to hear about this. I think the 100% increases in premiums should not be allowed because Genworth IMO was hoping a lot of people would drop their policies. I thought the benefits for those reduced options were a really bad deal. Hence the excel sheet. I know a guy that was so angry. He dropped his policy because he thought it was criminal and he didn’t trust them and he wanted to give money to his church rather than paying $1000’s in premiums when he thought Genworth would only rewrite the policy to cut benefits again. He thought there should have been a class action lawsuit . 🤷 to each his own. Genworth was in trouble and sold ~30% of a profitable business to pay off debt. Their stock price has improved in 2024 (most stocks have)… but I wonder if it has to do with excess deaths… b/c I constantly see medical based RUclipsrs talking about excess mortality, morbidity with heart disease…. My friend’s mom was able to stay with her children until she died- seems like a dream come true for the elderly that could do so.
A quarterly thank you.
Heeey! Hope all is well. TLT dropped to almost $92.00 a share today. It was 98 three weeks ago, lots of movement in interest rates.
@@PremierStudyandInvesting Thanks! Things are still going decently enough. Your quarterly spreadsheet ETF updates and discussion are really helpful. I've noticed few people these days are providing ETF portfolio weighting analysis. I'm glad indeed I came across your work & compilation in Modern Portfolio Theory and can access the results through Patreon. Much better for example than using a broker in my view. I was registered as an advisor in mutual funds for about a decade from the mid 1990's. Your work would have have made that job unnecessary - a good thing (it was often stressful for example when planes flew into buildings just saying). One quick last subpoint: I've heard several hedge fund-to-client managers (way above my net worth) mention this year holding a large weight in gold the metal and NOT the miners, hence GLD which I only learned about going through the quarterly update today (oh well, new day new thought). One quick last question: if any rattling events happen in between quarters and highly alter your previous update, might you provide and interim portfolio update if pertinent? To end on a quip: volatility sure is crazy, yet one 6-8 digit personal hedge fund proprietary manager Michael Pento - based in Florida - says he has friends with all of their portfolio in ONE position, Nvidia, nuts, though they've been really right for 2 months and good for them, for the time being🙃Thanks for reading.

Not sure this makes a lot of sense - Leave the darn Market price alone at the Close and allow the market to adjust the Market price down on the next Open or during that next trading day. Even though it is known that the Div has to come from the Equity or MarketCap value, let the free market determine that price - NOT some half baked accounting mumbo jumbo. Let the Market price be the Market price and let the Div and its payout stand on.
Yes- who would have ever imagined this is the way it works. The longer I have thought about it- the problem of stock splits would cause a big problem for analysts. They would probably have to make this adjustment on their own. So in that sense it is nice that is was done for them/us already. One other thing that has come to mind is that if I am able to mentally justify using the adjustment factor for the change in shares outstanding via stock splits then what about buyback… this also changes shares outstanding but there is no adjustment for buy backs like there is for dividends and for splits…. Odd. Got me thinking now.
Thank you
So VOO for VGT? Combining it with SCHD?
SCHD is very popular among dividend investors, and to mix it with SP500 index… anything is possible I guess. I ran portfolio optimization models in 2021 and SCHD was chosen for some lower risk models. The SP500 index hasn’t been selected by the models I have been running in 2023.
What about University colorado ?
Good school if you want to ski 2 days a week. Lot of phd’s and entrepreneurship there. Expensive because of the housing ordinances tho. Without even looking at their tuition prices, I can almost guarantee that’s going to be an expensive road to the CPA. Honestly no one will care that you took undergrad courses from CU bolder vs some other school.

@@urielaz2402 👋 it’s hard to know but I see your point. I am surprised when I see people with CFA in my company at the same promotion level as those much less education (although maybe much longer tenure)- so perhaps CFA can help people climb faster. It is a generalist cert at the first two levels- but by level 3 I believe around 50% of the material is based on portfolio management which is very specialized. There may be some sort of group identity- a brotherhood/sisterhood with other charter holders. I find it is simply interesting to know how everything works- similar to what is interesting to people who get into resorting cars and working on engines - the complex system. I haven’t looked at all the details but now it’s not just exams there are also some modules that are required in Python or some other toolkits to get the charter …. I’m not sure since it won’t apply to my next exam but will for the following one. Sure- I guess we could go and do data science degrees or become great at SQL, but finance is much more interesting. I will be managing my own money so it’s valuable to be learning the basic aspects. I also think about being an independent financial advisor with a CFA - seems like it would be a very attractive proposition for clients. You sound a bit more doubtful -what are you seeing- that might be a better option worth considering.
@@PremierStudyandInvesting thank you for elaborating on this. Well it’s true that I sound doubtful but not because I am seeing something better. I just wasn’t sure if it’s worth pursuing into the future but I guess you could be right. And would you believe it if I told you that I even asked chat GPT :) (Lol) about it and from it’s detailed answer it seems like it’s a really good choice for people interested in finance and investing. I personally used to be obsessed with finance just because of the awe I had from this industry and the crazy earning potential but I really doubted myself whether or not I was really genuinely interested in finance and investing. At the moment I am 35 and I am back in school pursuing Computer Science but the finance world will always have a warm place in my heart.

How come you didn't have UT Austin in your list? Their website claims that they are the best. Also University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. Can you please make a video
That’s for the comment. UT Austin is a great University. I will look at Illinois Urbana Champaign for the next update. Thanks!

I haven’t been following this stock closely in recent months- there was a very large - I think 42 million preferred convertible shares redeemable at $0.12. Current shares outstandingly is ~162million. Seems it would drag any major upside move if we assume those would be converted. Need to go and re-read, not 100% sure on that.
up 24 % today
Thanks for the update. I need to take a look at the progress that’s been made recently!!!
I am former nationally accredited accountant and considering getting a cma, what is the demand for older (50 and up) cmas? if any. Good vid. Thx.
I’m not sure about demand since I passed the exams but am still waiting to finish the work experience. I wonder how much “on shoring” will take place since this is really a lot about cost accounting, project management, cost projections. My current belief is that onshoring is more about moving manufacturing to Mexico. I think that is the heart of it even though there is some finance corporate accounting in there as well. It seems like Robert Half has a lot of these types or roles that fit well with CMA’s. I also believe there will be a trend of people working later into their 70’s. Last comment- I think the data on CMA salaries is skewed because many CPA’s are also CMA’s
@@PremierStudyandInvesting okay, that's interesting. I used to contract via Robert Half and Accountemps. I think you're right about a rise in older workers occurring as retirement becomes harder to achieve. Do you feel you will be in demand when you finish your work experience more domestically or over seas? Thx!
@@jasonblizzard9635 yes- I think the demand will be good for me. My background is more in finance, but when Covid hit they were running their exams in a way where it looked like it could be years to get the CFA. That one needed 4 years of work experience plus he pass rate during Covid got down to 22% for CFA- so it seemed more like a longer term plan and CMA can help short term. That’s what I was thinking but right now I am in commercial real estate so…. It hasn’t blown open doors for me. But also I don’t have CMA behind my name either. The PBS documentary “the retirement gamble” wow a shocker! Great documentary about retiring in the US.
@@PremierStudyandInvesting 👍 I'll check out the documentary. Thx!
Nice job! I usually search the cert name, now days in remote to compare demand.
Good call! On that!
the ceo bought another 70,000 shares this month, stock up 3 % today at 6 cents...
You comment has caused me to check the spreads on bid ask next time I log in to my brokerage. Do you know how much money they received from BARDA for OT-101
the ceo bought another 70,000 shares this month and its up 3 % today
Herb- are you still in this stock? If yes why? I saw a post recently and thought of you and this firm as the poster was saying to use artemisia annua to clear C spike protein . oncotelic was the only firm I remember talking about Artemisia Annua ever. Hope you are well.
price up 22 % on friday, you're thoughts on inuv at 34 cents and shrg at 3 cents, lots of insider buying
up 22 % today
Fyi you have to have a CIA designation to sit for the CRMA.
Thanks for the video. It was very helpful. If you are trying to include dividend reinvestment in prices, it seems that the Adjusted Closing prices would be the way to go.
I’m currently a sophomore accounting major and I want to get my CMA. Is it possible to study for the CMA while I’m in school? If I register for the Wiley CMA package, do I have to take the test within a certain amount of time?
As far as I remember you can sit for the exam while you’re still in school, but to officially earn the credentials you will need 2 consecutive years of related work experience and a bachelors degree. You have 3 years total to pass both exams. Most study materials have an access till you pass option
@@thecheekof thank you!
@@thecheekof my school offers a accounting joint with finance major…should I do that to prepare me for the CMA or life after school. Or can I do just as well with an accounting degree and just learn some finance topics through Wiley?
@@edgarpineda6121 I had a double major in business administration and accounting in college and did not take too many finance courses except for what was required for the business part. I think I took like 2 finance courses. I personally think having the accounting background will serve you better, you can learn all of the finance stuff you need to know with the study materials. Keep in mind that the CMA also tests economics and statistics knowledge, if you have the availability to take some courses in those areas it would benefit you as well. I work for a large company now and can tell you that having the accounting skill set opens many doors. People often move from accounting to finance, but rarely move from finance to accounting because people strictly with a finance background often do not have the accounting skill set
@@thecheekof The accounting degree at my school offers 3 econ classes and I’ll try to fit stats in there too. Thank you for your advice! It really helps to hear from someone with experience.
Thanks for this video. I pray whoever reads this right now, may you get everything you wish.
Very cool informative video, from 9 mins in! What a disaster. I have liked and subscribed, you can get some money through youtube?
OMG arithmetic return sounds so wrong after watching this video. That is some good piece of information.
Thanks for sharing this !!
Thank you so much for this!!!
I dropped out of music school 10 years ago and now at 32 I want to get a macc degree and a CPA.... am I crazy?
Just a bit! Only so because that’s the spark that fuels up the motivation to pivot your life into something worthwhile! I’m in a similar boat and hope my own craziness continues to light this CPA path I’m about to embark. If you go down this journey too, wishing you the best in your endeavor!
You are not crazy. Do it.
