My grand dad was the official photographer of the Poncan Theatre for many years until his death in 2015, his adopted dad lived in Ponca since at least the 1930s and was one of the early projectionists for the theatre (A picture of him Raymond Cox is still in the lobby of the theatre). Haven't been back since grandpa died but seeing as I'm only a couple hours away I'd love to make the trip back sometime, visit family in the cemetery and get some wet plate photos of some of the historic spots in honor of my family who grew with the city over the past 100 years or so.

This town is a testimony to human resilience. Rebuilding a city that was all but completely destroyed is amazing. Napoleon Hill had a saying that summarizes the locals very well. He said, "Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve." The folks in Pass Christian could be role models for us all. Great video, thank you.

We love the appalachiacola port st joe area and visit every chance we get. Funny thing is we are from helen georgia where the head of the Chattahoochee river is. I have stood with the Chattahoochee flowing between my feet. Yes the Chattahoochee turns into the appalachiacola at the florida line and its mouth is ofcourse the appalachiacola bay.

wish y'all could have walked another block down the road behind the Library. there was a Elem and Middle school and a church and the cemetery at the same corner. You would have found it very interesting. Also the town next to the Pass, heading East is Long Beach.. Also a small town but a little bit bigger! Hope you can come back again for an all day visit. Safe travels!

I'm from Louisiana but, in 1986, marched in a world championship drum and bugle corps from Hutchinson called the Sky Ryders (RUclips Sky Ryders drum and bugle corps). The corps was nationally very competitive for many years. The corps left the Hutchinson area in the early 90's and moved to Dallas. We stayed and rehearsed at Hutchinson Community College. I enjoyed my time there.

Your video is light years ahead of 90% of the travel videos I've seen. Most of those videos are shot from cars and are terrible. Fleeting glances of the buildings and homes are all you get when filming from a moving car. Thank you for the extra effort it took to make this video. Wayne Dyer used to say, "It's never crowded along the extra mile." Please keep up the good work.

There is a statue of Elvis Infront of the auditorium. The Hayride scene in the film Elvis is referring to the Louisiana Hayride in Shreveport. My mom was born here and had us 4 girls there. She /we lived on E 75th St.. right next door to her mom. this was in the 60's. We moved to my Dad's hometown of Pass Christian in 1970 and still here. My grandma and one other person were the last to leave the neighborhood. It's where my Gma had lived since she got married in the late 1920's / early 1930's.

Thank you, guys, for visiting! I've always wondered what the experience would be like as a first time tourist to the city. My wife and I like to hit up little towns and find flavor, too, but as a lifelong resident I couldn't see the area without bias. So, thanks for sharing! I hope you can return during the week sometime and delve a little deeper. You only scratched the surface. Downtown closes at midnight on Saturday and buttons down until Monday. LOL.

The big draw of Punta Gorda are the boat canals. Several neighborhoods of Punta Gorda have streets in front of the houses and boat canals behind the houses. The majority of these canals are deep enough for sailboats with no bridges or locks to the open Harbor.

I swore the population was above 20k. It's a big place for only 14k people. A basketball stadium holds more people. Grew up there. A lot to like about the place. A lot to dislike about it too. I don't know if it's still this way, but back then the law enforcement and judicial system was horrendous. Police infringing your rights, public defenders best friends with the district attorney. Pretty sure if you was a defendant with a court appointed attorney in McPherson back then. There was a very good chance the Judge the DA and your attorney went and played golf together after they shafted you. And then the Judge retires, DA becomes the judge, Public defender becomes the DA, and one of their family members becomes the new public defender.

Tourists earlier usually avoided Port St. Joe because of the smell of the large Paper Mill there which closed in 1998 and finally demolished in 2003.The Town then reinvented itself into a more artist, tourist and retiree type of community.
