The May 18 2024 Kayaking 101 Class at 15 NC State Parks is a collaboration between the Auxiliary, the NC American Canoe Association, and the NC State Parks. This meeting is a round table discussion of the Auxiliary role.

Monthly meeting of Paddlecraft Coordinators.

Presenters: Joey Taguding, Don Rice and Roland McDevitt Vessel Safety Checks provide an opportunity to inform novice paddlers about legal requirements and the importance of wearing a life jacket. It is also a chance to discuss what craft and skills are need to stay safe in the venues they paddle.

Joey leads a small group discussion with District Paddlecraft Coordinators about how to track Paddlecraft Operator status in AUXDATA II. Data must be entered correctly to ensure that PCOs are not mistakenly placed into REYR. The discussion also addresses basic reporting that will help Paddlecraft Coordinators monitor who is in REYR or approaching REYR.

Warren Darrell addressed these topics from the perspective of a coastal kayaker.

Scott leads an interactive seminar on AUXPAD Patrol Communications, including use of the VHF radio. Scott is the D7 RBS Specialist, with a strong background in all aspects of boating. This is great preparation for an AUXPAD Academy if you are not already qualified as a PDLO-and a good refresher if you are qualified.

This seminar reviews all of the Coast Guard Auxiliary procedures to request and complete orders for a paddlecraft patrol. This is part of the preparation for an AUXPAD Academy.

Introduction to AUXPAD, including paddlecraft safety outreach Ashore, and Afloat training for members of the CG Auxiliary. Roland McDevitt, Joey Taguding and Todd Wilkinson are the presenters.

This is second in a series of videos about the AUXPAD Paddlecraft Safety Program. This US Coast Guard Auxiliary program trains members to promote paddlecraft safety to the public, including use of life jackets and development of paddling skills. This presentation provides valuable information for Vessel Examiners who perform Safety Exams on Paddlecraft.
