    Will the spray wash out when you are done quilting?

    • @ThatGirlsQTnT
      @ThatGirlsQTnT 10 дней назад

      Great question! The label does say it is 'washable' but does not indicate it is water soluble. My assumption is 'no' the description also says it's permanent. If you are concerned about lumps and bumps from the glue drips, I've never noticed any because I'm constantly smoothing out the fabric as I go.

    • @ThatGirlsQTnT
      @ThatGirlsQTnT Месяц назад

      I got them at a local store... Fred-Meyers, during spring-summer season. As far as I know, they are the standard size. the hole I think is 1" or 1.2". I measured before heading to Home Depot and buying wooden dowls as my joiners. It's been the best solution for me.

      You can use pipe insulation in place of pool noodles and PVC pipe for dowels.

    Thank you for sharing. I trim my batting half inch on top and bottom side. I then centre it as best as I can on the backing fabric. That way there is not so much bulk in the seam allowance from the batting. It actually allows the seam allowance to butt up to each other and still maintain the thickness that is consistent throughout the project.

      That's a great idea! I'll have to give it a try on my next QAYG project. A lot of quilters will do a lot of hand stitching, which I think is a great method, sadly I've not the patience yet for that step. I did have a lot of fun with it. Thank you for the great tip and for watching!🤩

    Your focus blocks are cut 4.5in. My focus blocks will be cut at 9.5in. What sizes do I need to cut to make the flying geese? Thank you!

    • @ThatGirlsQTnT
      @ThatGirlsQTnT 8 месяцев назад

      Great question! the FG should be the same width x half the depth + 1/2". So if 9 1/2" is the size of the focus block unfinished, then FG should be 9 1/2" x 5". that extra 1/2" will be consumed in the seam allowance when you piece your two FG units to make the chevron block. Then calculate the measurements based on how you choose to the FG (4 at a time or 1 at a time). I hope this is helpful.

    You didnt use any batting on the pillow, any particular reason why.

    • @ThatGirlsQTnT
      @ThatGirlsQTnT 10 месяцев назад

      Great question! I didn't use batting because it was already double layered, and the blanket is fairly small and already thick. I thought adding batting would make it lumpy and less comfortable. Hind sight I think adding the batting would certainly have made it a pretty comfy pillow :-)

    • @wam0357
      @wam0357 6 месяцев назад

      I have made several. it is a little bit of math to get that pillow the right size and to center it on the blanket. Its right to eliminate the batting in the pillow fabric to avood more problems. I suppose one could have a quilted piece or block already batted and quilted beforehand it would be reallt pretty, but the job of a quillow is to go from blanket to pillow and back to blanket with ease.

      Is there a way to explain how to construct a block?

      Hi Vicki, I'm not sure I follow. Do you have a specific block in mind, or are you asking about calculating the size of an HST?

      @@ThatGirlsQTnT how to construct any block

      I think that's pretty subjective and depends on who's receiving and who's providing instructions. Me personally, I like a show and tell with lots of detail. I try to explain the same way I'd like to learn about it. I'm a beginner so words, and watching it get done work best for me. I also like to see mistakes get made or those little imperfections, and then I like to see how a quilter/piece-maker compensates for those little imperfections... Or, dare I say 'character'. I'm always open to suggestions and requests; If you'd like to see a specific block, I'm happy to give it a whirl and make a video of it.

      I’ve done a lot of small blocks. The bulk of the seams is a bit much. Your method of opening seams makes sense. I will definitely try. Thank you.

    It's a cool block. I might give it a try but I'd probably use one of my accuquilt qubes but it would work. I've gotten very lazy with quilt math since I got serious with accuquilt!

      Hi! full transparency... I'm lazy at math in general LOL but I've found resources that have been very helpful in determining measurements for starting pieces... But I still try to share formulas... for those that want to learn a tid-bit more. So a virtual shout out to all content providers who've posted cutting instruction tables everywhere!
