I need to get an antenna up...i have several short wave radios, most of them transmit as well as receive, though I mostly stick to the amateur bands. Have you found Ringway Manchester's channel? Loads of ideas for stuff to listen to on there and a lot of interesting historical stuff, too.

Even though I was in the cadets for a few years and more recently worked at a former military base now in civvie use with many of the original buildings, even now I still look at places like this and wonder what all those buildings are for and what goes on inside. The barracks/billets are quite obvious as they're all a typical style, but the rest you can't really guess.

I, personally have never had any reason to drive down that part of the UK but I know that other members of my family have. I am also aware that the A49 is seen by some as a way of avoiding gridlock in and around the Birmingham/Wolverhampton and Coventry parts of the M6 - where at certain times of the day it can get very busy, basically morning & evening (going to and coming from work times). The A49 can be taken from the M5 (Worcestershire) up to the M6 (Staffordshire - Stoke on Trent) and vice versa. So, it's understandable that the road can obviously get quite busy - I just hope that people who were directly involved in the RTA are okay.
