High Porosity Hair: My Honest Reviews on 7 New Products
Hi guys!
I am back with several new products I have been trying. Some of them have become staples in my routine, others I have already phased out again.
The products I am reviewing for high porosity hair:
Eucerin Dermo Capillaire - excellent
Kuza 100% Indian Hemp - a champion but sadly super greasy and with an overwhelming smell
TRESemmé Exfoliating Scalp Scrub - excellent
Brosch matte finish pomade - good, but drying and leaves flakes
Brosch Original Hold, unscented - fantastic styling properties but bad smell
Modern Pirate pomade - decent hold, very masculine, woody smell
Olaplex No. 3 - excellent

    Omg! Thank you soooo much for clarifying. I have noticed that the more I do to my high porosity hair the more breakage and the more shedding I have. I realized that my hair is the healthiest and longest when I absolutely do the minimum. Wash my hair condition oil and flaxseed gel and air dry. Thank you for this explanation. I just did a big chop where i shaved off all of my hair because it wasn’t growing. I wanna say that I do have high porosity hair because i over use products that have different kinds of ingredients that I use on my hair, as well as washing it with hot water and using different types of shampoos/ conditioner. As well as blowdrying and combing it everyday. I believe that is what caused me to have high hair porosity because I’m an impatient person and I don’t know what my hair likes. I want to be able to use natural products. Or would it be best to not be any products on my hair? Right now my hair is shaved so should I wait until it starts to grow out?

    Silicones are GREAT for high porosity hair!! Don’t get rid of them, it makes managing dry frizzy hair more difficult. Use both rinse out and leave in conditioners with silicones!!

    • @HighPorosityCentral
      @HighPorosityCentral 9 месяцев назад

      Silicones are fine if you use high quality, water soluble ones. The cheap ones will just suffocate your hair after a while and cause breakage and dryness. In either case, silicones should not be part of a high porosity hair routine if any sort of bond builders are used. Bond builders cannot penetrate through silicone.

    • @GuessJess
      @GuessJess 9 месяцев назад

      @@HighPorosityCentral hair doesn’t suffocate because hair is dead. Silicones form a protective layer over hair strands that help seal the cuticle and protect hair strands from breakage. I’ve heard several trichologists and cosmetic chemists say that. So maybe use silicone products after your bond building treatments. Also, Olaplex shampoo has silicone in it.

    • @HighPorosityCentral
      @HighPorosityCentral 9 месяцев назад

      @@GuessJess olaplex is silicone free and hair cuticles can absolutely suffer from build-up, which I describe figuratively as “suffocation” because no product can penetrate silicone build-up, causing your hair to dry out underneath. But you do you. I won’t use silicones and also won’t recommend them to my viewers.

    • @GuessJess
      @GuessJess 9 месяцев назад

      @@HighPorosityCentral Olaplex shampoo is not silicone free, the ingredients list contains dimethicone and amodimethicone which are silicones. Many products use those ingredients because they smooth the hair shaft and don’t cause buildup. I’ve heard several trichologists and cosmetic chemists address the myth of silicone buildup and damage in their videos. You should do some more research before you decide to not recommend ingredients to your followers that are actually beneficial to high porosity hair. If you’re concerned about bond builders not penetrating through silicones, then you should use a silicone free shampoo. But I suspect you might be wrong about that theory since Olaplex itself has silicones in its formulation.

    • @HighPorosityCentral
      @HighPorosityCentral 9 месяцев назад

    The Secret to Moisturising High Porosity Hair: ruclips.net/video/VOVfhWQ6E8g/видео.htmlsi=7Sq992WkN-hiPpex I’d like to share this video because it explains quite effectively how only the thicker moisturising products can hydrate effectively high porosity air. Have you ever tried thick masks and/or leave-in conditioners? In the last case there are at least two by Redken which seems to work very well. They have the consistency of a cream and also work as heat protection: Redken Acidic Perfecting Bonding Concentrate Leave-In; Redken All Soft moisture restore.

      It really depends on the person I think. I will make a video on this but my hair is very much like my skin. Dry but sensitive to heavy oils and butters. The way I can’t use heavy products on my skin because they beak me out, I can’t use heavy products on my hair because they suffocate my strands.

    Hello! I didn’t well understand what you do after Olaplex 3. Since this is a product designed to be shampooed out. But you said you do a shampoo before using a scrub product. So after Olaplex 3 do you shampoo again using a shampoo like the Olaplex shampoo? And after that do you use the Pantene conditioner?

    • @HighPorosityCentral
      @HighPorosityCentral 10 месяцев назад

      So I do it like that: I use my hair scrub to get everything off, use olaplex No 3, leave it on for 10-20 min and then wash it out with water. I do not shampoo it out tho. Never have.

    • @PierfrancoMinsenti
      @PierfrancoMinsenti 10 месяцев назад

      @@HighPorosityCentral Interesting! The opposite of official instructions. Even the Acidic bonding by Redken is meant to be shampooed out. While K18 and Living proof are leave-in. But evidently, just rinsing out works for you. Another thing that for me it has become clear is that one has to find his/her right way to use them efficiently. This is something which deserves a deep reflection: not only products but even the specific and personal way of using them are two very important things. And it doesn’t always happen to find the more efficient way to use hair products. There are many variables as for example quantity, frequency of use, what you do before and what you do after, which other kind of products you use and their sequence, etc.

    • @HighPorosityCentral
      @HighPorosityCentral 10 месяцев назад

      @@PierfrancoMinsenti no indeed. The olaplex conditioner No 5 is also not meant to be mixed with other moisturizing conditioners but for me it’s the only way to make it work. I will add No. 5 and then layer a moisturizing conditioner on top. But also: if it works for you when you shampoo No 3 out, then do it.

  • @PierfrancoMinsenti
    @PierfrancoMinsenti 10 месяцев назад

    Finally a channel about high porosity hair! I just would like to add another more challenge: that is high porosity hair which are also very thin and very few, also because of the age. This is the worst scenario I can figure out because you’ve to consider that very strong moisturising products are not good for thin hair. So you have to find good light products, but not so light that in the end they don't work because they are meant for low porosity hair! So this is my current situation. I've tried several bond repair treatment products, from Olaplex to K18 etc. I find them so strong that they seem not good for my thin hair. Or maybe, despite the number of video and instructions I have seen and read, I haven't still learned how to use them. So, could you please make a video about how you use Olaplex 3? The entire process, I mean: including also the shampoo phase and the conditioner. Thank you so much in advance!

    • @HighPorosityCentral
      @HighPorosityCentral 10 месяцев назад

      Yes. This is a good point. A video on how to correctly use No 3 is on order but: I think I have product recommendations for fine high porosity hair that I will share first. You are right when you say that fine high porosity hair is an even bigger challenge. While my hair isn’t fine, it can’t handle heavy products either, so I have some products that will likely work for you as well. Edit: No 3 may also generally be too strong for your hair. There are other options by olaplex that could work better, which I will talk about.

    • @PierfrancoMinsenti
      @PierfrancoMinsenti 10 месяцев назад

      @@HighPorosityCentral thank you! You are really the right person for understanding the issue! Everything you are willing to share will be very welcomed! I think we are a niche, not a small niche, actually, which is not properly targeted since we are always very in need of hydration, but the right hydration. When the cosmetic industry will understand that we exist and we are in desperate need of the right, specific solutions? I feel as if we are bound to do the whole work of selecting the right products through a long and costly process of trial and error. So sharing the results it’s the only method to be of great help to others hoping they are not going to do the same errors we did at first.

    these tips were very helpful, as I am on this same journey. I just found out that I have high porosity hair. Smh, I had no idea why my hair was just not growing, and continuously breaking. I am natural, and have been for 3 years, and now I am completely, eliminating heat from my hair. Giving myself a goal, and disciplining myself and my hair so that it can continue to grow healthy, and long. I had the same issues when it came to getting rid of split ends and damaged hair. I am ready to apply all of these tips now. Your hair is beautiful just as you are by the way! New subscriber here! You are an inspiration, and I feel like I have more hope now! Thank you for sharing these tips and this video with us! 💖

    1. You use the Japanese hair straightening system? 2. Do you only have it professionally done? 2. You don’t have a relaxer? 3. What’s in the Japanese hair straightener that’s not in a relaxer and vice versa?

    • @HighPorosityCentral
      @HighPorosityCentral Год назад

      1. Yes 2. Yes, only professionally. It’s highly dangerous to do yourself. It’s a very complicated process. 3. So this is what I found online: Relaxer (A straight perm is basically a perm service, using thiol compounds to temporarily break the chemical side bonds in the hair and reform them using a neutralizer, usually hydrogen peroxide. JHS (The Japanese straightening service is a cornstarch-based system that is designed to create a non-coating, straightening system that uses heat oxidation to seal the hair and rebuild it from the inside using the formulations and special irons that reach approximately 350 degrees)

      @@HighPorosityCentral: Hmm. 🤔 It sounds like the Japanese Hair Straightening system is the same or very similar to a “texture release” treatment that is also heat activated and uses amino acids. Thank you for answering. 🥰

      Japanese straight perm is permanent whereas texture release washes off after several months

    🎉When you said your hair was damaged from wearing it in a bun too often, l'm curious to know what the damage was? You said it didn't have split ends, was it single strand knots? Thanks

    • @HighPorosityCentral
      @HighPorosityCentral Год назад

      It was a mixture of single strand knots and the strangest “wear”. It looked almost like it had been roughed up around the cuticle. My hairstylist didn’t recognize the damage but told me that it looked as if my strands had been scraped, which makes sense. After all I was constantly rolling my hair up and stretching it along a hair tie. Instead of freely flowing, the strands were constantly rubbing against each other.

    How often do you get the Japanese straightening treatment?

    • @HighPorosityCentral
      @HighPorosityCentral Год назад

      I get it every 3 months. It used to be every 4 months and I know of people who only get it done twice a year, which honestly I couldn’t deal with the textures.

    Why are you layering a pre shampoo treatment over conditioner??

    • @HighPorosityCentral
      @HighPorosityCentral Год назад

      Because it works for some reason. Just the conditioner or just the treatment do not give me the same effect. In general, I’ve found that layering conditioners is very effective.

    OMG...you just said everything I've experienced. Though my hair is a little above my shoulder....when I would wear a bun site enough my middle would be shorter. Or my hair was frizzy or it would get a little pass my shoulder and I would cut it. So I went natural the middle grew back in....mind you I always keep a lighter brown going. Well I've realized though I've been relaxer a year now I can't do it. So I'm 13 weeks transition and I realized my hair needs it's butters and oils. I was a roller natural and relaxed with a bend. Yes I get it trimmed.. Thank you for additional info I did not think about. Ohhh I once had a hairdresser that had to continue to tell stop using high heat on my hair..I learned how to take care of my hair myself through my aunt that had her salon 40 years . I would just weekly get it done as treats...those treats were killing my hair. My hair now has bounced back and retaining nicely now that I daily oil the ends and I have to weekly shampoo..I use the line Phyto that does me pretty good.

      I feel you! The amount of damage buns did to my hair is INSANE! I remember my hairstylist cut my hair from boob length to above my shoulder, it was so bad. Of course, heat doesn’t help but I find it especially bad for high porosity hair. It’s virtual impossible to fend off lasting damage. The only way is abstinence lol

      @@HighPorosityCentral lol..I do a roller set mind you my hair is way way shorter than yours. And that straightens my hair at the roots completely.

    I have 4 type hair, and i just went back to a relaxer in Sept after 11 years of being natural. I too hate heat, i devided to very rarely do silk heat press because the blow drying and flat iron is too much direct heat.. i like flexi rod sets and the style last much longer

      It was the same for me in 2019. I wanted a change, I was sick of crying in the shower lmao and detangling for hours. Straight hair is infinitely easier to handle and I don’t regret it.
