    Pentax has an M42 adapter for the K mount. Its exactly the same flange distance. In terms of available lenses, one can use even modern Pentax lenses on older bodies. Saying that Pentax K mount doesn't have a lot of lens options simply dont know what they are talking about. It is the only SLR mount that is still alive. So I would recommend the K1000, KM, KX, MX, all of which are fully mechanical, as Spotmatic alternatives. The KX and MX have shutter spead and aperture read out in the viewfinder.

    Nice comparison between the format sizes. I've found when shooting it in 110 (to my preference) rating at 200 is the sweet spot. I agree some images at 400 can look a bit under exposed, but the cartridges I've rated at 100 had a bit of over exposure in the brightest areas. It's definitely scene dependent though.

    • @NorbiWhitney

      Hey thanks for the comment! Agree on all points. I wonder how much this film stock influenced exposure compensation on the Lomomatic 110.

    • @filmismorefun

      @@NorbiWhitney That's an interesting thought about the Lomomatic. Aside from the flexibility in rating any cartridges, I've also figured the inspiration was partially related to the multiple exposure function and ability to half-rate 100 ISO cartridges to blend your exposure better.

    Great set of pictures ! I suppose the artists loved them ? I love the rendering of this film stock when it's sunny - less on the cloudy day but it's interesting. Is it (another) Kodak 500t without remjet ? Seems to have less grain than Cinestill 800t.

    • @NorbiWhitney
      @NorbiWhitney 2 месяца назад

      Thanks Thorpal. I agree that the cloudy day was very unfortunate, and I didn't have enough time to reschedule. It is indeed another washed Vision3, and I'd say the lower grain is probably because I overexposed it (rated at 640), and metered for the shadows. I know a lot of people shoot Cinestill at 800, which in my opinion is not the way to go.

    Norbi sorry for this question a year late but what shutter speed do you typically use on this since I've found because of the dark light source I'm going up till shutter speed 1/6 or 1/8 (with an aperture of 8 or 11) to get usable scans. Is that wise? I use a 2 second timer and a shutter release cable.

    • @NorbiWhitney
      @NorbiWhitney 3 месяца назад

      It’s never too late for a question! I’m normally 1 or 2 seconds. Cable release is the way to go. If you’ve got a modern Sony with ridiculously good low light performance, you could maybe shoot at ISO 320 for example and bring the exposure time down a bit without introducing digital noise.

      @@NorbiWhitney Thanks so much! I think that would help. Also - I've been noticing some pink/green digital noise in my images (in full zoom) I wonder if that's because I need to expose my negatives to more light while scanning. Will try with a 1 sec exposure.

      @@dillimeinbilli possibly. Make sure your histogram is over on the right hand side. To get as much information as possible.

      @@NorbiWhitney Thanks I tried it and it definitely reduced the more pronounced noise. :)

    Ha-ha I did the same thing, the first time I shot the sprocket rocket. If you like vertical panoramas, check out the work of Horst Hamann.

    I personally like the photos with and without the sprocket! I like that you have the choice. Great video. Best Wishes 💕

      Thanks for the comment! I agree, but I can make that choice later if I want to crop out the sprockets.

    Great video, mate! The mask of the sprocket rocket is ridiculous, given the name and thus purpose of the camera. Panaromic shots are awesome though and your photography proves the point! Have a great time in the next weeks/months, happy to welcoming you in the Lab again at any time!

    This camera is a very fun toy! I tried using my Pentax 67 with 35mm film, but it was a terribly tedious experience. I think I’ll get away with the same result as the Lomogoaphy camera gives!🎉

      Yeah it does seem like if you don’t have a dedicated 135 back for your MF camera, it’s much more effort than it’s worth.
