Champion Blower and Forge, patented 1904, hand operated post drill
I'm just beginning to reassemble this old Champion post drill. It was badly rusted when I bought it, all parts were seized, and it took a lot of work and heat to finally break the parts free. I removed the rust using wire wheels and electrolysis to get it to this condition. This is the automatic down feed to put pressure on the bit as a cam operates a lever with a pawl that engages the serrated drive wheel. The press also has a conventional lever arm to move the spindle up and down by moving the arm. This assembly disengages or engages the screw shown to automate the feed. Instead of painting this I'll leave it as is, oiled to prevent rust.

This is the first time running this engine after restoration. It came from the Pico Canyon, CA oil fields in the 70's. I got it as a basket case... flywheels off the crank, boxes of parts. Theory is it may have been in the shop when the oilfield was shut down. The cylinder was new, there were boxes with new bearings, valves, etc. This is a natural gas engine, throttle governed, running here on p...
First drone video!

First video from my Holy Stone HS 120D. Not too bad, but I hope to learn a little more about flying it and taking photos/videos. Surprisingly intuitive controls,

Manufactured for a WW1 submarine chaser. This particular engine is in the Coolspring Power Museum in Coolspring, PA. This auxiliary engine features a compressor for an air supply produced by the middle cylinder, a generator, and a water pump just visible in the lower left of the beginning of the video. It's disengaged for the video, but operates. Spectacular little engine!

Motor Transport Museum's 1952 Mazda three wheeled truck runs! Two cylinder air cooled engine, this is one of five imported to the US. The messages on the side of the box read: "SIgnal Trucking Service" and "Trucks Are Your Life Line". Tom, Sherman, and others just got the engine running, and brakes fixed so give it a whirl in front of the Motor Transport Museum in Campo CA.

Last of the twin trees on Sloan Canyon Road cut down.

We cut the second of the twin trees on Sloan Canyon Road. The first fell on it's own some time ago and this last one has been struggling for over a year. It finally did die so Robert and I took it down. Robert kept tension on it with the Cletrac HG to make sure it went the right way. A dull saw chain didn't help, but it eventually went down.......... so sad. Just another of the many oaks we've ...

A power stroke every revolution of the crank. Operation is similar to the 600 HP Snow. At June 2016 Coolspring Power Museum. Thought to be for patent application or a prototype.
Hello nombre de la máquina??
I've come across one of these, planning to pick it up tomorrow... I hope all these little parts are reasonably serviceable, it looks like it's been sitting outside for a while... Doesn't really matter I can make whatever I need.
интересный мотоблок
Looks like a walking beam, does it actually do anything or just for show .
Wonderful engine. Ford Museum has a very bad reputation for getting rid of historic artifacts in favor of the latest fad. I know of several very historic engines they either auctioned, or are rumored to have scrapped.
Very interesting lathe. I volunteer at Tees Cottage Pumping Station and we have a massive lathe driven off a line shaft. I’ve subscribed
This would have also been line shaft driven. Sadly, I don't know the history of where or how it was used.
My nephew and I were with Nate when he took delivery of this engine. It was a very snowy day when it arrived from California, all morning it was touch and go, if the driver was going to make it or not. Finally the driver arrived, Nate had borrowed a flatbed tractor-trailer from a friend, and had the driver backup squarely to the borrowed trailer. Then the fun began, we got out the pipe-rollers, chains, come-along. Nate rigged everything himself, my job was to work the come-along. After what seemed like days we had it transferred to the borrowed trailer. An experience I will never forget. That following summer Nate had on display and at Voluntown Volunteer Festival that took place every year in my hometown. Since the festival began, Nate always displayed a few engines and one of them running a shingle mill. I have a picture of it at the Festival, I think? Great memories!
Always an adventure with these old things! It's a beautiful engine. I've got a couple Farrar and Trefts steam engines from Pico Canyon and one is just about ready to run. Glad you found this video since you were so involved in it's rescue!
What is the rock crusher? It's absolutely amazing. Make and model?
Тише надо ездить
I want one! Or two. 😏
Wonderful sound!
Do you wan to sell it
Sorry, no it is not for sale.
Hey Greg! I guess I've watched this video at least 25 times and each time it takes my breath away. What a marvelous thing to have being a part of your life. Beautiful thing. Les.
If you need I have plenty in several diameters and materials, e.g. teflon, graphite
Did you ever steam it after this video be cool to see it
would like to see more of this
So many questions. Does the gov affect valve cutoff
I have an oc3 I need to finish restoring it has the Anderson power angle blade! And to take it a step further someone converted it into Power Tilt so it's a real six way!... I just hope the first gear is not as fast as your first gear
Extremely rare engine, annular compound. Science Museum London has cylinders only from similar engine ex Old Kent Road London gasworks in store .
Hi it was good to talk to you at Vista tractor show today.
Fascinating piston and cylinder arrangement.
There is one older than that it had two handles on it pulled by mule or draft horse you hand dump it by hand
HG-42
Do they ever run the steam engines any more, for open days etc?
I believe they do. We were able to get in because my brother contacted the staff and got them to open for us, and it turns out, another group, on a Sunday when they were normally closed. We were passing through Cincinnati returning from Coolspring Power Museum and were only there for that day. They have to shut down the new electric pumps for tours because of the noise they create.
it don't matter who is right or who is wrong you got to be amazed that in the old days there was stuff people use to make roads and railroad right of ways with these and people like me would love to have 1 to use on his farm to build roads and what ever else he/she could do with 1. if I could find 1 in south Carolina I would do my best to buy it and put it back to work behind my tractors
That size dozer with a pto--just what the doctor ordered for moving snow here. Too bad decent crawlers this size are unobtainable or unaffordable.
We had a steamboat here called New Camelia, launched in 1847 and sunk here in 1920. She ran for almost 100 years. Had an engine like this one. Used to stick up out of the water for years after she sunk.
0:50 All that steam blowing past the valve rod. No good ¦(
That was the first time it had run in who knows how long. We were running it to find out what was leaking where.
Nice. That triple piston rod is a rare find too!
It is, he only has significant and rare engines. Amazing collection, check out my other videos for more.
I will! I love steam engines :D
Ok, I think I have this mechanism sorted. The lowest bolt in each side of the frame is a PIVOT. You may need penetrating oil here. The upper frame slides forward on top of the lower frame for dig mode. The forward lever is probably meant to be forced down parallel with the tongue to lock the bucket in transit position. Lifting it unlocks the whole mechanism and lets the blade bite in. Presumably it is heavy enough to drop back into place when released, and maybe it needs some weight to do that. Also, this kind of tumble bug was invented in 1934 for tractors. The horse drawn predecessor is the Fresno Scraper, with one handle out the rear for the driver. Feel free to email to discuss.
Why wreck it with that noise!
nice stuff, any idea how much $$$ henry sold it for ??
I do not know what was paid when it was originally auctioned nor what Greg paid for it.
That is a interesting piece, i would like to see that guys whole collection !! Nice
It has a nice rhythm to it!
is there going to be any effort to fix that gasket leak?
really great pans for a phone, impressive!
some of those parts must have been giant castings
we really aren't so far away from this design
what a beautiful machine!
very nice! do you know any history behind the piece? i.e whats its job was in its past life?
I want to buy one, or something like it to pull behind my farm all super A
driving it like a BOSS
Are you going to rebuild it for show or functional? Keep up on the video.
This engine has some serious steam leaks :S
Weird video, kinda dreamlike.
Hey Dood. I should just loop it and ditch the fireplace.
fun!
very nice. do you have 5 hours of this ? ;)
sorry Mike, I know how much you liked that tree
I need one of those to scare the bad guys away!, maaan that sure is one ugly dog! lol
that is truly amazing
Those doors look huge
