So, its a standard bounce into ground effect, they hover the helicopter then drop her low before applying power & departing, what happens is rotorwash at the lower height coupled with the cantered blades gives extra lift. On the way up a certain power is applied & the aircraft will lift vertically to a height that allows safe flight away from obstacles, & in the event of an engine failure before forward flight the aircraft would land back on the pad/ground safely, & if the same happened when forward flight is achieved the aircraft would safely fly away. This is used in helicopter sites that are near big buildings/confined areas for safe operations to the aircraft & the people or buildings around the site.

I will miss this helicopter and it’s sound so much. Never will be forgotten forever in my memories. Hopefully the Irish Air Corps AW139 could get a S92 helicopter in their fleet, if so there will be excitement. But though, this is very unlikely to happen. Goodbye S92A, u have been a pleasure to witness flying over the skies of Ireland. 🙏😢👋

About the new fleet, I was dreaming that they would put AW189 helicopters in the Irish Coast Guard fleet. It’s a great new aircraft to be witnessing over the Irish skies, but very sad to hear the S92 helicopters going to be permanently grounded. I will miss the sound of these beauties for good. 😢😢😢 PS. More good news, I hear that the Irish Coast Guard is adding Super King aircraft to the fleet. This will be the first time ever to be witnessing these patrol aircraft over the Irish Skies. Sorry to hear that many people are frustrated about the S92A retirement.
