well, in general it’s not correct to show how a car behaves in real conditions when you’re driving in a low gear, and as I understand this eco-netik is a 70kW engine (not 88kW) , but the author showed the real picture only at the end of video when he was actually driving in 6th gear and showed the real rpm, I'd be interested in how it behaves on the cruise

Nope, the one in the Video is a petrol. You can tell by looking at the rev counter, on diesel cars, it stops at 6000 rpm, sometimes 5.

Any ticking from the engine on idle? Sounds almost slightly like a diesel on mine. Was thinking valve lifters. Goes mostly away with warm engine and only noticeable at idle

You're almost spot-on :) At 2:10, it's less than a slight downhill - not enough to get your car rolling by itself (I won't tell you why I know this 😅) At 2:43 there's a steeper downhill, but rather short. Overall, the stretch driven here (the video poster drove the same stretch in both directions in this video: 2:43 is the uphill at 7:55 in the other direction) has very slight up- and downhill sections, they don't make more than +/- 5 km/h difference at top speed.

It makes sense that it can go 200 on the speedo. Hyundai accent 2006. 1.4 16v 97hp can go 200 as well, and this is a bit newer car with 1.6. I think its heavier than Accent, thats why they are the same.

didn't you have any problems with the engine?

I have also the same (105 PS) at 183000 km and no any Problem until now.

the 116i version with the 2ltr engine has the same output, but more torque. i guess bmw detuned the engine to make it a better replacement for the 1.6 block, but not to match the full tuned 120i

Would u recommend getting a 1.6? I can’t get the 2.0 because of the insurance mainly and price

@@V1PERB3ATZ Yes it's still an awesome little car. The chassis is truly incredible, the next best thing to a sport car. But be very careful on the maintenance schedule. The 1.6 is really unreliable and the injectors and spark plugs are very sensitive. Always respect the warmup timing before you go. Other electrical parts always break down too. I still love mine, but it's far from reliable for such a slow engine.

I’m 19 and live in London so insurance would be crazy but I’ve heard that the 1.6 116i is apparently “shit” is it true or just hating?

@@V1PERB3ATZ The 1.6 is slow for the chassis on which it's based on. The car can easily handle three times the power no problem. Sometimes you lose speed while cornering flat out. The car has enormous amounts of grip (especially on the right tire) for such a little engine. Same thing for part's prices. It's ok for a BMW, but really expensive for an engine this slow. A Renault Clio with the same acceleration numbers costs half to maintain. Oh and btw, avoid BMW service centers. They're crazy expensive and quite incompetent (at least here in France).
