    Honestly, I think it’s safe to say guts is a stronger and better swordsman than zodd. He’s probably the best swordsman in all of berserk. For instance, diffed zodd in swordsmanship on two different occasions. With the berserk armor, I wouldn’t be surprised if he stomps zodd out.

    Fight kinda reminds me of Mike Tyson vs Buster Douglas. Everyone says that fight was just a fluke, but nobody talks about the fact that Buster Douglas's momma died right before the fight. Imagine your mom dying right before fighting Prime Mike Tyson. Imagine how hyped up you would be. Whats prime Mike Tyson to momma dying? Think about it, haha. Whats a 300 year old War God Demon in comparison to a friends complete betrayal? (Momma power obviously stronger than revenge power but similar pretense of "you're nothing but 'in my way'.") Buster Douglas beat the everloving chit outta prime Mike Tyson in that fight. Askeladd does this to Thorfinn in Vinland Saga after Askeladd kills his 1 and only actual friend. Whats a duel to the death when you just killed your only friend and only realized he was your only friend after his dying words were "i just wanted to be your friend"? Interesting topic.

    Yeah, Wyald is really annoying lol He talks like a crazy inner city New Yorker became a monster. Honestly he’s too dumb too really rival Zodd. Ironically hes way too human. Hes too caught up in lording his power over his opponents to be able to outwit them. Plus his form clearly doesn’t retain much purely logical thought like most low level apostles. Grunbeld is a far more impressive one. His pseudo-human form can crush fully transformed apostles on this level

    Part 2 got deleted for whatever reason. 6:57 After Zodd ducks and spins under the blade and uses the inertial movement of ducking and spinning to launch him self in the air and swing around his sword to bring down tremendous inertial weight that could not be normally blocked. 6:58 Guts recognizes this and plants his sword in the ground to use as a lever to block zodd's massive built up inertial force, kinda like stopping someone from entering a doorway by placing your foot behind the door. 6:59 Guts uses the lip of Zodds sword, the momentum of rotating his hips and using his knee to bring the blade up, and then comboing a punch into an elbow to help the blade up even faster. He continues to bring his knee up to try to disarm Zodd as Zodd's inertia is momentarily thrown off-balance. 7:02 alot going on in the panel. Zodd instinctively pulls back his sword so Guts doesn't disarm him, so instead of stopping his attack Guts moves with the flow of inertia which causes him to do a full 360 swing. Zodd calmly dodges backwards and has regained control of his inertia and weapon. When Guts did the 360 swing he positioned his feet in as if he was anticipating of a possible miss, so that as soon as the massive inertial weight from swinging 360 degrees missed he could quickly guide the inertial momentum back downwards as Zodd was backing off to retreat. Having regained control of his weapon, Zodd swings it backhand left to right to block Guts downward attack, but this places Zodd on his toes and moving backwards meaning his inertial position was locked towards moving in one direction. 7:06 Guts immediately trys to capitalize but Zodd comfortably accepts the 'outplay' and backflips in the direction he was being forced in order to dodge Guts attack. Zodd got put into 'check' by Guts and any ordinary legendary warrior would have been unable to accept that on the fly and therefore would have died. Zodd demonstrates that he has ZERO qualms about swallowing his pride to adapt to the situation. 7:10 Zodd's grinning ear to ear like he's having the time of his life because he's finally found someone that can use inertial movement as good if not better than himself. Zodd is on cloud 9 at this point lol, "Your Words Are Impure! We Carry On!"

      It's amazing and genius that you managed to get all this and understand all of this by just looking at panels. May I ask how you learnt about this inertial movement and just your general knowledge on swordfighting and all forms of stances? I'm really interested in learning this

    • @SpellsOfTruth
      @SpellsOfTruth 3 года назад

      @@iamtheninth713 I've felt it in sports since I was 5 years old but never knew what to call it until relatively recently. I could feel it instinctively in hockey when stick handling on a breakaway(see alexander ovechkin), in football when juking a defender in the open field(see leshawn mccoy), in basketball when crossing up a defender(see allen iverson). Ill give you an example that you can try at home, stand up, shift all your weight onto 1 leg, then try to move that leg, you cant, its impossible. Its all about getting your opponent into a state where they cannot physically move or can only move in the direction you want them to move and then taking advantage of that. About 10 years ago I started boxing. I bought a heavy bag and taught myself how to throw a jab, then when I got comfortable with that Id learn how to throw a cross, after I comfortable with that Id learn a left hook, then left hook to the body, then right hook, then Id start doing combos. Once the 'basics' got boring, Id look for something new to learn, so I learned how to launch myself forward to jab from 10ft away in one motion, I learned how to incorporate foot stance switches so that I could jab wit my left(left foot forward right foot back, so right hand is the more powerful punch), change stance so im south paw(left foot back right foot forward, so left hand is the more powerful punch), so it would seem like another jab but since I switched my stance it would actually be a left cross with much more power behind it. Then I started watching famous boxing styles. I figured out why mike tyson could punch so hard. He was using his inertial weight, mike calls even admits in an interview that hes not a strong punch, he just knows how to use his leverage(inertia). Try it yourself, get into a boxing stance, then dip down forward and onto your left leg. Now you are bent like your about to jump into the air and you should already have your hands up because your in a boxing stance, then explode off that left foot like your gonna jump into the air and also rotate your hips, then simply put your left hand out like a hook, you dont even need to swing your left arm, all the inertia build up from exploding off your left foot and rotating your hips is more than enough to punch far harder than a normal left hook. About 2-3 years ago I learned about the martial art taught to Russian military elite assassins called systema. Systema is the only thing in existence that explicitly teaches inertial movement control. Thats when I realized the legendary warriors like the 300 spartans could have legitimately defeated 1 million persians thats not an exaggeration, I realized stories about old russian/tartarian knights defeating 100 man companies by themselves was actually possible, stories of samurai jumping onto enemy ships and defeating every man on the enemy ship by themselves was actually possible. Miyomoto Musashi speaks about this in his books, the manga vagabond undersells what he could do. When you learn how to move perfectly efficiently, strength, speed, and power no longer matter(they still help), the only thing that matters is inertial movement control. Its very hard to find examples of this in real life because a master at it can very easily break an opponents bones or kill them so you can only find it at 70-80% speed in sparring videos (if your lucky). Thats where anime comes in. Guts vs Zodd rd 2 is one of the best examples. Thors vs Askeladd in vinland saga is another great example of how a duel between inertial movement control masters would be like, all that matters is unpredictability(when askeladd cuts the mast to surprise thors) and superior inertial movement control(when thors lets askeladd break his sword so that Askeladd would get excited and mistakenly exert too much inertial movement which thors capitalize on). The base level of inertial movement control is the teachings of bruce lee, 'be like water my friend'. Thats just base level though. For an example of someone on a bruce lee level of inertial control vs someone on a russian elite assassin level of inertial control watch the fight between spike and ed's dad in cowboy beebop episode 24. Spike has wild movements but still remains in flow state, while ed's dad has zero wild movements, just calm perfect movement in flow state. Eds dad destroys spike. Bisquit krueger displays this during the greed island arc in hunter x hunter. King bradley displays this in full metal alchemist brotherhood.

      Thank you for this wondrous analysis. You are clearly a highly observant and driven individual. The 10-foot jab you mentioned reminded me of Marvelous Marvin Hagler's "gazelle" jab. If you're interested, check out the fighting style of an old middleweight champion by the name of Gene Fullmer. I discovered his style by accident while experimenting with making my own style. It is a reverse cross guard, to be precise. They also call it the Dracula guard, very interesting stuff. Old Gene used this intriguing stance to throw overhands akin to baseball pitchers' throws, and his jab mechanics were completely unique - they were more like front-downward "chops" than actual jabs. He'd use the inertia from his missed jabs as a force couple in order to draw more power from his devastating overhands which would soon follow. The man has a positive record against (admittedly already aging) Sugar Ray Robinson. They fought four times, with Fullmer losing once, drawing once, and winning twice. His nickname? The Cyclone!

    Part 1 Fight starts at 6:34 with a basic clash. Keep in mind that after this initial clash, they are not trying to smack swords together, they are trying to stab the other person and if the other person doesn't do something about it they will get stabbed. 6:42 zodd throws his shoulder into guts and guts begins to fall backwards. 6:44 zodd immediately tries to capitalize by charging forward 6:47 guts dodges zodd swipe to the ground by using the inertial force of him falling backwards AND the positioning the sword in the ground so he could push off to aid in his dodge. 6:49 guts uses position his sword was to put it directly in the path of zodd whose inertial movement couldnt be stopped in that moment, a regular warrior would have tried to stop them selves from running into the sword in which guts woulda capitalized, zodd instead of trying to stop moves with his inertial movement and charges the sword even harder. 6:51 Zodd calmly waits until the sword is about to touch him and dodges by very slightly moving his head just enough for the blade to miss and not an inch more because he wants to maintain control of his inertial movement if he dodge more wildly then his inertial movement would escape him and guts would capitalize and win the fight right then, this is how important inertial movement is. The move at 6:53 is absurd too. Zodd dodges the thrust from the last panel perfectly and while dodging swings his sword in a way that guts couldnt directly see it till the last moment but gutts lets go of his sword with his left hand and moves his metal hand up to his head to block it while also at the same time slicing down with his other because zodd is right under his blade zodd ducks and spins under the blade and uses the inertial movement of ducking and spinning to launch him self in the air and swing around his sword to bring it down on guts with all that inertial weight.

    Part 3 The move guts makes at 7:37 is absurd, miura has to be tapped into how true sword fighting works to understand something like that. Guts purposely lets zodd follow all the way thru with his swing, in fact he even supports it by smashing down on zodds sword. Normally someone would react by blocking in this type of situation, guts does the complete opposite, he welcomes zodds attack and supports its movement, then uses zodds sword hitting the ground and his sword hitting metal on metal, to ricochet even faster than a normal swing right at zodds head, thats why guts says 'he dodged? those reflexes are inhuman!', and even though he missed with that massive sword and its massive amount of inertia weight he simply goes with the flow of the inertia to continue on the attack. At 7:59 there is so much going on. Guts steps forward with his right foot while swinging left to right, zodd swings right to left at guts head, guts ducks under the swipe and zodd dodges by jumping backwards and positioning for a downward swipe at guts, while guts uses his sword right to left without changing footwork, and it forces zodd to have to smack down on guts swing because hed get hit otherwise. Its like counters, upon counters, upon counters, its all flow, reacting in the moment. 8:37 zodds sword starts to break, he immeadiately reacts by grabbing another sword and attacking in the moment, he gains the upper hand for a second, then exerts too much intertial movement thinking he had the fight won, and guts uses that misuse of inertial movement to use the sword from the ground with his foot to attack. This is how legendary warriors throughout history would fight other legendary warriors, its all about inertial movement, and unpredictability. The only thing in existence that teaches this is the martial art taught to the russian special forces spetsnaz called 'systema', its the martial art taught to assassins(the spetsnaz are the russian equivalent to american green beret combined with cia assassin).
