El Alamo

All they wanted was to tell sensational events to their popular audience. Let me give you a personal example: during a field trip in south Louisiana in 1975, an old Cajun man from the village of Mamou taught me a rare anti-Bonapar...

A Cajun in Berlin

A Cajun veteran, reminiscing the close of World War II, once said : « As I came into Berlin on July 2nd 1945, the city was dead and the giant apartment buildings were guttered by fire and looked like a cemetary of giants. It was raining, it could not have been more deplorable or more depressing. Berlin at that point was a city of zombies. The men were dead or in prisoner of war camps. There wer...
The Ville Platte Shiver - Le Frisson de la Ville Platte (Restored Uncut Version)

Sensational discovery: Lost scenes from "The Ville Platte Shiver" rediscovered. Unbeknown to almost everyone, these turned up in Natchitoches, Louisiana, specifically at the Cinematheque de la Riviere Rouge. "We checked and saw it was a rarity, said an expert. It was a copy in 9.5mm. This amateur film format (introduced by Pathé Frères for the home market in 1922) is obsolete. The film was in b...

Please provide the subtitles. It's an unusual subject for a Cajun song. It would be nice to know also how to get a full recording of this song.
@@lorenwhite9802 I could be mistaken but I think I heard this song for the first time from a record of Zachary Richard back in the 70's.

Lyrics anyone? I love the song a great deal!
Belle Musique de Alex!
Another lovely production.. Chapeau Bas mon cher!!!
I'm glad to hear about it, the role of the Cajun soldiers. I wished somebody would tell the story of the Pennsylvania Dutch-speaking soldiers. PD is a lot like German and my guess is that they could make themselves understood to the Germans a lot easier than most Yankee or Southern GIs. Another thing. The English soldiers was rotated out of Germany after the war and the occupation was mostly by men that never seen action in the war. Same thing with the Americans?
Entertainment today is still "real" entertainment, despite myopic nostalgia for the past.
Awesome, Gerald!
Chapeau!! Belle chanson, belle production!!
