JS Bach Invention 13 - CAPTIVATING COUNTERPOINT
JS Bach Invention 13 (BMV 784) - this two-part contrapuntal (counterpoint) piece is definitely nuanced, and mastering the two voices can be a bit tricky, which is precisely why Bach added it to the repertoire for his sons and students. This took about a week to learn and is certainly not perfect, but it's time to move on to the next challenge! 🙂 🎹

VIVALDI SUMMER (Storm) - Better On a Piano?
Просмотров 637День назад
⛈ VIVALDI SUMMER STORM - this is a clip from the full piece - pretty challenging to learn, originally written for a violin orchestra. My best take after about 2 months of practice. Take a look at the full piece and let me know what you think. 🙏🏼 Many thanks to @ADpianist for this unique arrangement, definitely my favorite after looking at many versions. HAUNTING GENIUS - RACHMANINOFF PRELUDE in C# Minor
Просмотров 1 тыс.2 дня назад
Rachmaninoff - Prelude in C Sharp Minor (Op. 3 No. 2) - This haunting and dark masterpiece was one of the first the 19‑year‑old composed as a "Free Artist," after he graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in May of 1892. 👉🏼 Fun Fact 👉🏼 although he wrote preludes in all 24 of the major and minor keys, there are many direct quotes saying he regretted composing this one as he felt it seemed to ove...
Chopin's POLONAISE - The SECRET ANTHEM of Polish Resistance in WWII
Просмотров 5462 дня назад
Chopin Military Polonaise (Op.40 No.1 in A Major) - the piece was used as a symbol of Polish nationalism during World War II and was a sort of 'secret anthem of Polish resistance.' It's also the more upbeat of two similar 'twin' pieces, one upbeat and the other not so much. Learn more on Wikipedia here: rb.gy/ngr0pr. 👋🏻 If you're new, welcome! 👋🏻 👉🏼 I'm an amateur pianist 🎹 and enjoy learning a...
Unexpectedly Unique Sound of C.P.E. Bach's SOLFEGGIETTO - J.S. Bach's Son
Просмотров 38414 дней назад
CPE Bach (JS BACH's SON) SOLFEGGIETTO in C Minor - this is a surprisingly different sound than most of J.S. Bach's work. Beautiful and complex, it feels as if he wanted it to sound like ONE hand was playing. This is my best take after a couple of weeks of practice. I really enjoyed the CPE style. Challenging but fun to learn! 👋🏻 If you're new, welcome! 👋🏻 👉🏼 I'm an amateur pianist 🎹 and enjoy l...

MAPLE LEAF RAG - Scott Joplin - Hear Why It Launched a Musical Revolution
Soooo beautiful❤❤❤
"It's time to move on to the next challenge". No. It's time to memorize it and then upload it to youtube.
Duly noted. Appreciate you taking the time to watch the unmemorized version, anyway, and providing constructive comment. All the best! 😊
@@PianoAddict-55 Very courteous response to my bluntness. I speak as someone who got in the habit of reading a lot of music, and recently decided to start memorizing things - it is gratifying. Try it, you'll like it!
I completely agree with you It is more gratifying. That said, I would invite you to take a look at some of the other videos on this channel, most of which were performed after committing them to memory. Your comments....good, bad or blunt.....are always welcome.
I wish I could do that!! Bravo🎉
Thank you! I really appreciate your support!! :-)
This Chopin Minute Waltz, also known as "Valse du petit chien" (French for "Waltz of the puppy," and in English, "Minute Waltz"), is a piano waltz by Polish composer and virtuoso Frédéric Chopin-- easily one of my all-time favorite composers. This took about two weeks to learn. Let me know what you think, and if there are other Chopin pieces you want to see.
Joplin spelled it Pine Apple. The fruit was a status symbol at the time.
Fascinating. I had read that during the Victorian period that fruits such as the Pineapple were signs of prestige, wealth and luxury. Thanks for watching and sharing!
Amazing!!!
Thanks!!
Bravo!!👏🏻🎉
Thank you!!
Fabulous and fun to watch👍🏻
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thank you :-)
Mi rag favrito, me gusta mucho su melodía!
Yo también. Esta es definitivamente mi pieza favorita de Joplin.
Bravo!🎉
Thank you very much!
Awesome!
Thanks!!
You don't take piano lessons, right? Looks like self taught. Your playing is good but emotionless tbh.
Just look at this interpretation by Evgeny Kissin. it has a darker aura and there is more tension its just scarier and not that boring and monotonous
ruclips.net/video/SCm9O2KNEX4/видео.html
Evgeny Kissin is a spectacular pianist and arguably one the best performers of Rachmaninoff's work alive today. He's very entertaining, theatrical and his interpretation of this prelude is quite emotional and nuanced. It's super impressive. Can only dream/aspire of playing like him someday. Solid feedback. Appreciate you watching and providing comment.
@@MarcCro-ku8ur He doesn't sound like Evgeny Kissin of all people and you think he hasn't even taken lessons? 🤣 Try to have a little perspective. Have you ever taken lessons? Playing any Rach is all out warfare, like riding a bike on a highway. You thank God when you get through it without being obliterated. That said, that's a good direction to point towards. Kissin is a master with Rachmaninoff, and we could all draw some lessons from him.
I think he played it exceptionally well- lessons or not… why does that really matter? I say bravo!! 🍾👏🏻
Bravo! Very well played👏🏻
Thanks again! Much appreciated!
excelent polonaise!
That means a lot to me coming from you. You're a phenomenal pianist and I've been enjoying your work for some time. Thank you!
One of the most easy pieces in the piano literature😂
I know, right. Not sure why I had to practice it so much 😊. Thanks for watching!
"Polonais" is still danced as the first dance on prom in high schools in Poland. Lead by school principal.
Thanks for the feedback. Is that referred to as a Studniowka?
@@PianoAddict-55 yes indeed
Best piece I agree
Thanks for watching. It’s also fun to play 😊
This is the HIGH ANXIETY of Rachmaninoff's Prelude in C Sharp Minor -- a dark and haunting piece he wrote at age 19, and later regretted as its popularity started overshadowing his other work. What do you think?
*Applause* from another Marcus. Brilliant playing!
Ha! It's a good week when you have positive feedback from two Marcus's. Thanks so much!
BACH INVENTION 8 in F Major - this 60-Second HIDDEN GEM is a short, beautiful piece that doesn't disappoint, nor is it terribly simple! It was, however, fun and quick to learn. This took a couple of weeks to practice. I hope you enjoy! Let me know in the comments, and what other pieces you'd like to me to attempt!
Yes I like this in black and white. Really enhances the mood of this piece! It is a favorite and I think you play it better with each rendition.
Thanks! I agree the B&W speaks more to the mood. Glad you enjoyed it!
Bravo!👏👏👏
Thanks and appreciate you watching!
Amazing! I am play piano to and this is really good.
Appreciate the compliment and thanks for watching! Good luck with your piano journey, as well 😊
So dark😮wow.
Im the first comment let’s goooooooooo🎉 if this goes viral like my comment
I'll do better and reply, too! Thanks for watching :-)
I had to learn that when I was 16 and never did play it good enough to satisfy my piano teacher even though I played it exactly like that.
Wow. I certainly don’t play it perfectly but that’s one tough teacher.
Beautifully played!
Thank you!
Wow this is good
Much appreciated! Thanks for watching.
Incredible!! So smooth it’s like butter!🧈👏🏻
Ha! Thank you!!
Brilliant performance👍❤️
Thanks so much!
WOW!!
:-). Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow amazing performance. ❤😊
Thank you! Really appreciate you taking the time to watch. Enjoyed learning/recording that piece. Bach Inventions are masterful compositions.
👍🎾Sports music... 😎!
Appreciate you tuning in to watch it! Thanks!
Great interpretation, very nice polyphony! Many thanks! 🙏💐
Thanks! I tried to add more pronounced staccato/crescendo. Not a difficult song to learn but definitely challenging to perfect, starting with keeping a steady tempo (that doesn't get away from you).
Great ! good balance and overall music
Much appreciated! Thanks for the comments and taking the time :-)
Love it!!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Nice!
Thanks for watching. It's appreciated!
Beautiful! Please continue 🤗
Thanks for the kind words. Very motivating!
Beautifully played. Bravo!
Thanks! Appreciate the compliment :-)
Beautifully played! Bravo! 👏🏻🍾
Thank you very much!
Mr Joplin was a genius with ragtime music. A movie was made featuring his music. The Sting. Great movie!
I completely agree. Absolute genius. The Sting was also fantastic. This piece really showcases Joplin’s diversity in terms of complexity, rhythm and changing melodies. Thanks for watching.
Still needs a bit of work! But wanted to see if I could get a decent take after a few weeks of practice. Definitely one of the more difficult songs (at least for me) to learn so far.
If you can't play a piece perfectly, slow the tempo until you can. The great thing about rag is that when you have learned to play it very slowly, you are almost done. 😊 Emulate Joshula Rifkin. ruclips.net/video/qVhYSUz3ejU/видео.htmlsi=3HHq4gjRKIc3X8Ad
There's a recording of a piano roll on the web purportedly by Joplin himself. You'll have to search for it. RUclips is not allowing me to post a link.
This is the right tempo.
I learned this piece last year for competition and recitals and it presented a challenge but in the end was really great!!
Bravooo!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏💐😊
Thanks!
Love it!!
Thank you!!
This just makes me happy! Over and over and over again! 😊
It really is ❤well played!! 👏🏻
Awesome. I remember this from early on. I was allowed to listen to Liberace records.
Thanks for taking the time to listen 😊
Beautiful!
Much appreciated. Thank you!
