Hi! We're LeeAnne & Charlie, a California couple who embarked on the adventure of a lifetime.
We recently retired, chucked it all and moved aboard our 44-ft Mason sailboat, Juliet, along with our little dog Bubba. In October, 2019 we set sail to cruise around the Pacific Ocean for five years. Yes, you read that right...FIVE YEARS! Or maybe even longer. After decades of talking about this crazy idea, we're actually doing it.
This is not an easy lifestyle, but we are ready to face the hardships in order to experience a completely different way of life, and see places we normally would never get to see. We hope to inspire people to follow their dreams, wherever they may take them, however challenging they are.
The Coronavirus pandemic has added a whole new level of challenge to our adventure, but we're doing our best to pursue our adventure safely, and learn to live in this "new normal".
Join us as we chronicle our journey!

So when did you guys do the Baja Haha? Last time I did, it was in 2019 and the first time I did it was in 2003. I might’ve run into you guys in 2019. I sang the National anthem at the baseball game at Bahia Tortugas at a little baseball diamond they have there. I’m retired and still lives in Juneau, Alaska, where I own a small 30 foot Catalina sailboat, and do some racing here. Here’s the first of three videos in a series of a 300 mile race I did in June here in southeast Alaska. I have a friend who owns a house in bottled Barra and my wife and I are thinking of flying down there for vacation next year. I’ve sailed all the way to Puerto Vallarta, so I kinda know the area. ruclips.net/video/fiwGh2RXoEc/видео.html
Thank you for sharing your experience. Have often thought of taking a self defense course. You're amazing!
1:19 the design shown in the drawings was built only between 1969-1971.
what happened to you guys? where are you now?
Wow great video. I'm grateful you kept things from from progressing. The entire video was well done. Thank you
Going out alone was your mistake. It's OK in a gated community in Florida, but doing it in Mexico is a mistake. American women do not understand that being out alone sends a message to bad actors that think you are looking for sex.
That’s BS. You’re blaming the victim. I was not walking around looking for sex. I was on a run. I see women running by themselves here in Mexico all the time, especially in areas frequented by tourists. My only mistake was running under that bridge where I couldn’t be seen, giving a predator a chance to attack. Stop blaming women for their assaults. Blame the men who assaulted them!
Dear lady, sorry you had such a horrible experience. Thankfully you managed to escape.
Such a fascinating city! Thanks for showing us some of the highlights you enjoyed. As always, a great video!
Glad you enjoyed it Brian! I'm having fun putting together videos of our summer travels.
Stunning city! And really beautiful filming. Nicely done.
Thank you so much! Definitely one of our favorite places we've been to in Mexico.
Very professional travelogue!
Thanks Brian! I'm working on a video from our stay in San Luis Potosí now...I hope it helps people to know what that city is really like. It was one of our favorites. But wait until I get to the video of Morelia, which is where we are now...it tops them ALL!
Lovely video. My sympathies on the loss of your mom and Charlie’s dad.
Thank you! That’s very kind of you.
So sorry about your Mom. Take care❤
Thank you kindly.
Excellent video!
Thank you very much!
Excellent video! Mexico is beautiful!
Thank you! And we agree about Mexico! ❤️
And sorry to hear about your mom. 😢
Thank you kindly!
Hey guys! Glad to see your new video. Very nice update on what you are doing this summer! We're in Charleston, SC getting our engines checked out this week and then up to the Chesapeake Bay. We sold No Regrets and are now on a 2008 Manta 42 Mk IV catamaran. Much more comfortable, but still lots of boat projects. Stay safe and well. ❤
Wow, that’s a big change! I’m sure you’ll enjoy the extra space. But yeah, boat work is never done. Nice to hear from you!
LeAnne, many sympathies for the passing of your mom🙏🙏
Thank you kindly!
Thank you guys for showing my city to the world! ❤
Hola Santiago! I'm so glad you saw the video. You did a FANTASTIC job as our guide, and I'm sure that was obvious in the video. Guadalajara is a very beautiful city, and you represented it so well. Gracias!
As a retired nomad traveler and fellow runner I was horrified to hear about your assault in Zihuat. We were just there last month and stayed in some wonderful condos overlooking Playa Madera. We used the fisherman’s boardwalk as our running path each morning for a 3-4 miler. It was HOT! I know exactly the area you were attacked and definitively wouldn’t run that path alone. I run with someone always unless it is a busy park or main road with lots of traffic. As an older runner as well, I keep bear mace with me if I run alone and have it always in my hand as I run. Sounds like you did all the right things and I was glad to see you go back to the scene to face your fears. You were not defeated but rather you outsmarted your attacker! So proud of you from one older runner to another! Keep living life and be safe out there. Carpe Diem!
Thank you so much! Keep on running!
Charlie, Leanne, Outstanding drone footage. Simply awesome. Sharp editing and a keen ear for an audio track that matches the unparalleled cinematography. Well done on all fronts! I missed seeing sv Juliet in the race, but Masons rule.
Thank you so much! Sorry for the delayed response - we've been off traveling inland for hurricane season. But you are right, Masons rule!
Hi LeeAnne and Charlie… I’m planning our route from SF Bay Area to San Diego, for this year’s Haha…Leaving in August and will hopscotch down the coast taking the scenic route. I want to do a stop in the Oxnard/Ventura area. Are you all members of any specific yacht clubs in that area? I’m a member of the Vallejo Yacht Club, so will be looking for a club with reciprocity. Would love to visit your home club if you have one! Hope all is well with you two and wouldn’t it be great to meet up in the Sea of Cortez!
Thank you for putting such colorful interesting images together, really enjoyed it :-)
LeeAnne…great move marrying a tech kind of guy! Little did you know how handy he would be on the boat!!😂😂Very impressive, Charlie!
Way to go , Charlie… You showed great engine and mechanical prowess…All California guys of our vintage have inherent engine savvy in our genes….Ala American Graffiti 😂😂😂True drama on the high seas, and of course, it always happens in the middle of the night!
Those shots of the morays were amazing.. they always look psycho!
You'll see this yourself once you get down here!
Your videos are truly turning into polished travelogues.. Thank you both.. Now I’m really excited for October to arrive and the start of this year’s HaHa… We’re leaving Northern California in August and will harbor hop to San Diego in time for all the festivities. LeeAnne you’ve rekindled my excitement… as I’ve been knee deep in boat prep and upgrades to Glorious for the past year and sometimes it seems that the projects will never end…I’m now making a list of projects to put off to have them done in LaPaz!
I'm so glad my videos have rekindled your excitement! It's a huge adventure. You're gonna love it!
Predict Wind sometimes doesn’t “predict” very well… The hills of Agua Verde had a “Marquesas” look to them with the mist up there…Love your camera work…
They do kinda look like the Marquesas!
What a wonderful example of the beauty and splendor of God’s creation that morning. A lifetime memory for you! You were truly blessed!
Thanks!
Jet powered pelicans in the Sea of Cortez… very rare!😂😂
Hey, you never know what you'll find in the Sea! 😉
Years later….but still a great episode and wow, you really crammed a lot of good stuff in there!
Thanks a bunch!
What a wonderful thing you all did with your lives….Adopting two little lost lives and giving of yourselves to give them the love, values, solid role models to follow, and a chance at life that they would have never had without the two of you….You two deserve the life you are living now, in spades!!!❤️
Awww! Thank you!
Leanne, really like your light hearted commentary… and you have a real knack at editing…
Thank you! 😊
The seagull attack reminded me of “Finding Nemo”! Just subscribed as I’m about ready to do the HaHa this October and will be basically retracing your path. Enjoying your commentary, and had to chuckle about the never ending shuffling of stuff around the boat for a new project….It never ends, really
Wow, thank you for your nice comments! I'm so glad you're enjoying our videos. We have fun making them! We're now in our fourth season of cruising, and we love it. Enjoy the HaHa, and let us know once you're down here in Mexico! We might bump into each other in an anchorage or marina somewhere.
Great to catch up with what you have been doing lately. Excellent whale footage and we enjoyed the tour of Isla Isabel with its birds. We're in St Petersburg, Florida readying No Regrets for sale, as we are in the process of purchasing a 2008 Manta 42 catamaran to continue our adventure with a bit more comfort than No Regrets offered. Enjoy!
Hey, sorry for the delayed response! Good luck with selling No Regrets. And I look forward to seeing you out there on your catamaran! Woohoo!
Leeann saw your post on Baja Cruisers site today. I love your videos. I did the Ha ha in November and currently my boat is in Costa Baja Marina. Are you headed back to La Paz? Let me know and I would love to meet you and Charlie.
Hey, sorry for the delayed response! We are not heading to La Paz this season - we're going to stay on the mainland. But we'll be back there at some point next season, probably in the spring. I'll keep posting videos! Would love to meet!
Sorry to hear about your experience, I hope you have had time to heal. Just came across this video as I was researching security situation in Zihua as we intend to invest in a property. Best of luck in your travels.
Thank you for your kind words. And good luck in your property investment. As I mentioned in the video, we loved Zihuatanejo! What happened to me could have happened anywhere in the world. Mexico is a beautiful country, and we still love it here.
I'm SO jealous of the breaching whales! I've never been lucky enough to see one breach.
It's a pretty awe-inspiring sight! Magnificent nature at its finest.
Loved this Nat Geo quality video about Isla Isabel! What a wonderful visit you had!
Wow! Thanks so much! I felt like I was in a Nat Geo show when we were there - so much wildlife, and the ability to get right in there close with it.
Wonderful and fun video. The boobies were a hoot.
Thanks Kar!
Hey guys, great episode. Love the race footage! Safe travels from Barlovento Sailing.
Thanks! Fair winds to you guys too!
Another great cruising video! that was some fish you caught!! Next time you are in Barra, maybe you will see "Atlas" at the dock with her owner Josh! Atlas is the new name of our much loved "Red Shoes" 😍
We saw it when we were there last time, and Charlie met Josh! Are they still there? We'll be headed to Barra later this season for sure.
We’ll cross paths next year as Key Lime Pie is getting splashed this coming year in San Carlos, then heading south.
That's great! We're scrambling to get the bottom job done so we can splash on December 15, then we're heading south too. We plan on spending some time in the Sea of Cortez, then crossing to the mainland. We have a slip booked in Paradise Village for the whole month of March. Hope we bump into you!
Thanks for being so open and courageous to share this horrible experience. I’m SO sorry for what you went through and inspired by your strength and overall approach to life after the attack. My heart is with you and I wish you light, love and joy for the coming adventures.
What a lovely comment! Thank you for your support!
This was an excellent video. I thoroughly enjoyed watching. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed watching, and hope you learned something about these two beautiful cities.
Wow, very good and important video. Where did you rent the electric bikes?
Thank you! We rented the e-bikes from Zihuatanejo Dive Center, which does scuba excursions as well as e-bike rentals. They did a great job!
Good for you Juliet, so proud of you!
Thank you!
Superb & fascinating travelogue of SMA & Oaxaca!
Thanks Brian! We’ve had a great summer. Now back to the boat we go!
One of your best videos! You’ve motivated me to stop procrastinating and finally get up to Oaxaca.... Love your content. I am watching from Bangalore
Thank you so much for your kind words! I hope you do make it to Oaxaca. It’s worth a visit.
Very awesome Cheryl ! 👍
Thanks for watching! It's a beautiful boat!
Great video!! This really makes me miss Barra. This is one of our favorite places on Earth. <3
Ours too! This was actually from last season...and funny thing is that I'm currently working on the video of our visit to Barra this season! So stay tuned...I should have it posted in within a few days. I don't post videos as often as I should, but I try to keep up. 😉
its a shame anyone has to go through this, may the find the perpetrator and bring him to justice !
Thanks for your support! I too hope he's brought to justice.
