Thank you for the tutorial! I'm building a model of the Hyaku-Shiki from Zeta Gundam, which has the kanji 百 on its shoulder. The kit comes with a sticker for it, but I think it will look much better if I hand paint the kanji, and I'll be using this video as a reference.

@@shio-kanji8626 oh I meant the cursive kanji that you do after the "print" version of the kanji. Like in your videos, where you don't pick up the brush and mostly write the strokes non stop.

Why do block and line styles differ? Is that what you mean? There are five styles of calligraphy, but as far as gyosho is concerned, it was created to speed up the writing of a style called clerical script, which itself was created to speed up the writing process. The Kai style was developed in the later stages of calligraphy. Kai is the longest official writing style in China because of its clear strokes and less difficult brush strokes. Kaisho and Gyosho originated from the same source, but they were used in different ways and at different times, resulting in these different typefaces.
