Thanks for you video Abbie. It really helped me. I’m planning on leaving Korea after this school year. Leaving will be the hardest thing I’ve ever done but like you I feel it’s something I must do. I need to start the next chapter of my life. I’m going to miss all the amazing people I’ve met here and the amazing place that is Korea. It gives me solace to know I can return someday if I want. I wish you the best with all you do in the future! Keep in touch!
I cried multiple times in my last week--but I moved from Cheongju to Cincinnati this past June and I am LOVING my new life. Here's some stuff you can look forward to! 1. DIVERSE. FOOD. OMG. 2. Diverse people. I even hear Korean from time to time <3 3. Cost of living is better! My costs did double overall...but my salary tripled. 4. Watermelons are twice as big and only 4 bucks. 5. Meeting SO many people who taught in Korea. Literally just met a guy at the furniture store yesterday who had lived there for several years! Of course, not everything is perfect. I have a list of things I miss already--namely, safety.
Hey Abbie! great video on your time in South Korea. As you already know, I am also leaving South Korea. You definitely sound like you had a better experience that I have had. With my departure, I really don't feel bad about leaving since I have no strong connections with Korea itself, I more have a connection with other foreigners that live here. I really do feel that the language barrier has really stopped from enjoying the full experience, but that is why I am taking the time to learn more Mandarin before I do my move to Taiwan in a few years. I can really relate to this video and just wanna thank you for sharing your thoughts of Korea :)
