Hymn 280 in The Hymnal 1940 👌
That’s the wrong one
Yes
Not a terrific setting. One-syllable words are repeatedly stretched to three in a labored attempt to make them fit the melody. They cast their ne-e-ets in Galilee … The peace of Go-o-od that filled their hearts … Yet let us pra-a-ay for but one thing … In at least one place the music drags the accent onto the wrong syllable. The disciple’s name is pronounced PE-ter, not pe-TER. Music first, then words.

THANK YOU for posting this ! It is one of the golden memories from my days in a High Anglican parish ! I memorised the Latin text of this great 7th Century hymn from the Monastic Office, and still use it in my daily prayhers. The Latin text matches perfectly the meter of the tune you have sung here (Christe Sanctorum.) This text (Nocte surgentes, vigilamus omnes...) is one of the first thoughts which passes through my mind upon awaking each morning (along with the Anglican Chant Benedictus canticle.) THANK YOU again for posting this and gracing my day with beautiful music, beautiful poetry and wonderful memories. !!!
Wonderful !
A Magnificent tune excellently rendered. Thanks. ❤🎉❤🎉❤
THANK YOU for posting this ! I learned this beautiful hymn decades ago, in Latin, from the daily recitation of the Roman Monastic Office (although I was Anglican,) and it still goes through my head every morning when I awake from sleep. Nocte surgentes, vigilamus omnes, semper in Psalmes meditamur omnes ! Blessings to Trinity Church. ☺
Ave Maria
A hymn for use on the Sunday, Monday, and/or Tuesday before Ash Wednesday: Shrovetide, or the days of Carnevale (Carnival), aka the Mardi Gras season.
I had the honor of knowing David McKinley Williams and telling him how much I love this hymn.

Overtones on that organ are crazy
This is wonderful! Such a delight! ❤
It's 7:12 pm. Am I logged on to the right place? Concert at 7 pm?
May God bless everyone involved in making this hymn available to us.
Thank you for posting this hymn! I didn’t know you had a channel!!
Tune the organ!!!
We have had a lot of work on the organ since we recorded this! Check out the organ recital recorded on December 18. 2022. Donations to our music fund, which among other things supports instrument maintenance are always welcome. www.trinity-swarthmore.org/donate.html
A lovely, straightforward rendition. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Here because of Sideways's Home Alone video.
Same
@@colew9330 On a side note, I actually wrote a medly titled "St Nick's Cannon" (yes I misspelled it when I entered it in the Ditto platform) which was heavily inspired by that video from Sideways. ruclips.net/video/Qh9EqvZ4x4I/видео.html
I knew of this hymn but I don’t remember ever hearing all of it. Very beautiful and the words are exquisite! Thank you for posting and God bless ❤️🎄
Thank you!
We were all lost for a couple years?! No that's extremely false and out of touch! MANY of us were finally connected with God and people. And finally VERY successful people. The pandemic was hard on MANY. But SO many of us were rescued and exhalted and SORED because of it. Everyone including preachers should be sensitive to what a glorious time it has been for so many of us - so as not to undermine their credibility as they speak of this chapter of world history. (No tone! Beautiful service. Thank you!) Xo
Love the background images...beautiful song!
Many thanks
Thanks guys. It’s great to hear this sublime work without the full chorus and orchestra.

Thanks for being a life coach for us too. 🙏

Blessed to his holy name
I like this version, especially because the organ does not over power the choir. Well done!
