LG True Balance UE Error FIXED
We’ve owned this washer 5 years. Lately it requires us to run each load 5-6 times, adjusting the load every 20 minutes to keep it going. Over the last 12 months I have searched videos and tips to keep it alive. After following each one, it would improve the reliability, but not fix it. In other words, I still had to babysit the washer some. Replacing the rods made the biggest difference, but this last little trick allowed me to start a load and walk away confident. I don’t even attempt to lay clothing in there in the ‘perfect’ way anymore. I just dump the load in and hit ‘start’ and it’s worked every time!!

I feel like it’s making mine worse just starts spinning crazy
Good lord dude, get to the point...
I have the same issue. UE showing up after several years of service and getting worse over time. I found that the pump impeller was worn out and not fully emptying the water. The sloshing water triggered the controller as an uneven load. A new pump fixed it for me, and it's easy to replace.
I have a Whirlpool but researching to fix my Sister in laws washing machine we both have balance issues mine wants to Kool Aid man through the wall I’m going to try this on both washers thanks for the video
I just fixed mine and am basking in the sense of self satisfaction. Before you spend money to replace anything rotate the drum by hand and feel for any portions of the rotation that feel “stuck”. This was the case for me and after taking the inner drum apart from the outer drum I found that a pair of my 4yr olds undies had gotten between the two drums and was putting the inner drum off center. While I was in there I also cleaned out the incredible amount of stank that had built up over the years. “Self cleaning”…the hell it is.
Yeah terrible washer. Plus, it’s says it’s high efficiency but everytime it unbalances it refills the tub. Just a shameful waste of water. Thanks for the tip I’m going to try it
I wish you had been able to show how you opened the lid. I've used putty knives and screwdrivers and I can't get it to open. Even the manual just shows a picture of putting putty knifes in there ... its not that simple, and it feels like I am going to break it. If have the lg wt5070cw and get the UE error literally every single time.
Holy Cow Bat Man; that s*!t worked. I would be more than happy to send you $20 for your incredible idea. For years I have considered tossing this junk washer in the dump; thinking I don't have the time to research /contact LG about what if anything can be done. So lucky I stumbled across your video
It actually looks like you can add the bungees without taking anything apart.
I called your office today, my arraignment is on 2-14-24 for assault in the 2nd Thank you.
Just call an appliance company 🤣 smh people these days
So they can replace the suspension rods
Can you please tell me what length bungee cord you used? Thank you
Be nice to turn the dryer off so we can concentrate on what you are saying easier, thanks
I’m ready to Drop Kick mine to the front Curb !!!
Thank. You. 🙏 I have been battling this for awhile. I used two different cheap bungies to encircle the top of the tub, like you demonstrated, and it worked FIRST TIME. Despite a terribly uneven load. It powered through. Unicorn advice. Your research and work is much appreciated, Sir.
It means unbalanced load
****After watching this video****, I tilted my machine on an angle. Had my wife hold it still. Leaned down underneath and with a crescent wrench tightened the nut on the center bottom of the drum. There is no panel, it is right there and took 1 minute. It was very loose, at least 4 full turns to tighten up. Re-ran the cleaning cycle and no UE code or issues. It appears problem solved.
My wife might just take the opportunity to drop it on my head lol 😂
That was happening to me as well that bolt on the bottom was getting loose. We ended up putting a little loctite on it
never buying a LG washer again! got the bungee cord to fix this issue. This problem was from day 1 since we got it. All feets are leveled already. It seems a very common problem even on their new models.
Thank you so much, it worked like a charm. Bought a 48" adjustable bungee at Walmart for less than 3 bucks. Was going to replace the suspension rods, but tried this first and it fixed it!!
I bought two rubber straps, (Keeper A06235Z 35 inch EPDM rubber strap) from the hardware store. I hooked the first strap from one strut/shock (top right) ran around a second strut, (top left) and hooked it to the bottom left. I did the same with the second rubber strap on the opposite side. The whole drum doesn't move as much left and right and up and down. I just started a load with our comforter and it's working great! I also had problems with the rubber feet on the bottom. They were really beat up from the years of extra vibration. I bought four online, (part no. ZEN5040FA4226B) and put them on as well.
A set of new tub springs would have fixed the problem rather than some hardware store hack....I love "handy' homeowners who know nothing about appliances..Keeps me busy fixing their mistakes 😉
I have a LG washer like his. It doesn't have tub springs. Do you mean suspension rods?
@johnsannes6682 yes, suspension rods/tub springs..same thing.
@@bobloblaw2754 Thanks Bob.....He said he replaced the suspension rods and he still got the UE code. I just ordered 4 suspension rods, because my washer is still getting the UE code. I hope it fixes the problem. Do you have any advice if it still gets UE code after replacing the suspension rods?
@johnsannes6682 typically UE codes are because of worn suspension rods..that should fix the problem. If not, try slightly smaller loads..
Thanks a lot for the advice Bob.
I have the same washer and that trick fixed it! Thanks !
Thanks for posting this! Worked perfect!
My 10 year old GE had rods and 'tub dampening straps'. No balancing routine. If it sounds unbalanced, lift up and balance load. It must be the agitator-less models doing this. I replaced it with an LG. 🤞
Oh my goodness, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I think this fixed my problem. Thankfully as I was about to lose my mind. As you well know, that UE error was soooooo frustrating. Again, thank you so much for posting this. I am very grateful.
This video is now 2 years old. Can you please tell us how long the bungee cord fix lasted? Did it work all this time? Or did you have to replace the bungee cord after so many months? Just trying to plan it's a solution worth attempting for a rental house that has this LG washer issue.
i don’t the laundry a lot i didn’t know the uneven thing was happening all the time. no wonder our cloths are dirty. lol it’s super annoying. gonna do this or just weld the damn thing in place.
We've had the problem almost every time we used the machine. After seeing some comments where a tech replaced the control board, I realized that with almost anything electronic, if you unplug it for a a little while, it clears whatever is causing the problem. That's just what we did with the washing machine, and (knocking wood here) haven't had the issue since. Might be worth a try! Good luck!
This is the comment of the year worked for mine thanks buddy
Any guidance on about how long you left it unplugged before plugging back in for the "reset"? I am having both the UE issue with a wildly whipping drum - that the bungee cord may have fixed BUT even on an empty rinse/spin cycle it still reads uE after one spin...which is obviously a computer situation. 😩 Super last resort is this unplug/reset.
@@RaslynRendon Actually we left it unplugged until we needed to use the washer again the next day. Probably only needs a minute or so. I wouldn't call it a *_last_* resort, I'd do this before adding bungees or any other fixes. It's the simplest possible remedy.
Just tried this on ours. Used a ratchet strap, didn't replace the rods. Worked for the first time in probably 2 years without telling us the load was off balance. It did seem like it was shaking more than normal! But a wins a win! 🤣😂🤣
I just tried this and finally made it through a test rinse/spin cycle and noticed the same EXTREME vibrating shaking at some point and then just a lot more vibrating....on a medium spin. But, if it holds for a while longer, I'll take it! Glad to know its not just me, though!
lmfao just watched this video and the same idea popped in my head just tried it, yours still holding up?
I put pvc under the springs of the stabilizing rods. The real best fix is to never buy a LG washing machine again, which I never will
Are you going to pretend that the bastards at LG should not be lined up and shot!?
My wife has fought with ours for years getting off balance. She finally read the manual. It said to run a cleaning cycle and unplug it for 30 minutes to let it reset and It has worked fine ever since and it's been about a month
Did you not get the UE error during the cleaning cycle?
USE A METAL PUDDY KNIFE TO PUSH TOP CLIPS, WILL SAVE YOUR PAINT.
I fixed the UE issue by tightening the bottom nut (15/16” hex) with a fixed wrench and hammering in clockwise direction. I was able to tighten the nut by 1/4 turn. I think loose nut is the root cause for most of the UE problem.
Where is the said “nut”
Who do you access this bottom nut? Is under the tub?
I just completed my first load error free after wrapping with bunji cord. This is awesome. Yes I was resetting multiple times each load. More importantly I commend you on your patience and control. Better than me. You may be an awesome dad and husband. Thank you for the free tip!
Great video. What do I do if I have a front loader. Same issue.
72” cord
My “ue” problem has been getting worse over time and I was growing tired of waiting for the machine to self balance and finish the load. Most times when I opened the lid the load looked fine. I watched this video and another where rubber bands were utilized. Didn’t think bungees or rubber bands would last very long. I found some foam baseballs at Target, 4pak, 2 red 2 blue for $10.99. I placed them at the top of the plastic housing that frames the metal drum, over top of the felt tabs that come from the factory. 1 on each side and front & back of the drum. I’ve only done 1 load, 2 sets of queen sheets that nearly filled the machine. At start-up the washer does a load sensing spin, it bounced a fair amount with the tall load but settled in and completed the wash without a “ue” incident. Seems to have solved the problem but I’ll keep an eye on the initial start-up wobble. Good luck!
awesome fix thanks
I hate this washing machine with a burning passion. I'm going to try this fix and report back. Thank you!!
The nut on the bottom had became very loose. Tightened it up. 15/16 socket. Thanks
Which nut on the bottom is it exactly? I haven't looked yet. Is there only one 15/16 nut under the tub? How does one access it? Is it from behind the machine or below it?
Tilt the washer back and underneath you'll see, without having to remove any panel, a large pulley. That pulley is held on by the 15/16 nut. The one I was working on had become loose.
Absolutely brilliant. Going to try this today. The next step is reenacting the fax machine scene from “Office Space”
😂😂😂 I’m downloading the rap song and I’m gonna film its destruction for RUclips if this does not work! 😂😂😂
LG is the worst I’ve ever dealt with! Horrible company! I am trying this first before throwing the washer to the curb!
This washer is on recall. I called (855) 400-4639 and they are sending a tech to fix the issue without cost to me.
Thank you! The bungee worked for me! What a horrible design by LG. I will never buy LG again!
Too much talking get to the video…Go to TikTok 3 minutes and you get an answer! Mercy
36”. Thank you for doing this video!
Tried this and its worked well
I recently put new rods and my washer got better, but this bungee solution idea got rid of the problem completely. Thanks from Puerto Rico 🧸
My LG top loader as it fills with water and begins to agitate, then suddenly it decides to spin. No I mean spin big time. And it is a good thing the load is small with roughly 4 inches of water. Because as it begins to spin, the water rises 2 feet and ready to come right out of the top. The sucker then settles down and begint to pour more water, then it does it again. No, I shut it down. What else can I do. Possessed son of a biiiiiii. What a way to balance a measly little load.
