Depends on what company you work for, insurance etc. But usually if you even touch them and i mean literally poke them lol you and the company will be sued, you could face charges and you will 100% be fired. Security really cannot do anything at all lol. They're civilians in cheesy uniforms 🤷

As a fellow security guard I agree with the calm approach and talking . 9/10 times it works ! 😊I work with homeless daily and asking people to leave many times a day.

The first thing I like to think about as a private security professional is we should all be customer service advocates. Always, ALWAYS! Remain calm. Think of anyone we interact with as human being and a customer whom we want to have a positive experience. Treat everyone like a person, start by introducing yourself as a person, "Hello, I'm Steven with SoandSuch security. Is there anything I can help you with?" Don't identify yourself as an Officer... I feel like doing so automagically puts folks on the defensive. Take the interaction in stages. Assuming you haven't already observed them loitering don't assume that's what they're planning to do. If they respond that they don't need any help tell them, "Okay have a nice a night/day," and be on your way. If they're still there the next time you come through simply maintain the same level of customer service. We're there to ensure the safety of everyone on our site and the best way to achieve that is to prevent situations from ever escalating. Be of service to them and if for some reason anyone becomes aggressive then move away to safe distance, continue observation, and call PD. Just my not so humble take on the job.

if a felony is being committed then handcuffs are permitted. But of coarse Im in a hospital. De-escalation is key. I guess it really depends on the state your in.

NIce video. In our training though we are taught to not use the handshake method due to it can give the suspect a chance for control over you.

Me personally doing this job going on 25 plus years and a reserve p.o for about 20 id just looked at him and his body language and look at the movement of the customers entering the store if they walked in normal I'm going to assume nothing is going but to be sure im going to stock my head out the door to see if i can detect any suspicious activity to see if anything is founded if nothing is happening the prankster would be band from the property

Our client wants us to force people even when they flee after shoplifting. Even if they ditch after they’ve shoplifted, it’s a direct chase of the person for obstructing my investigation when I detain them under shopkeepers privilege. Them running escalates the situation into a citizens arrest because of the obstruction. I was really hoping to see some training on non-compliant suspects.

Definitely be careful touching their hands or phone. Safely back away saying that you don’t want to be filmed. Best course of action is leaving or getting law enforcement involved.

I’m a former corrections officer and tactical team leader. I’m now a an armed security contractor and security trainer. I’m not a fan of hinged cuffs unless you’re in a corrections or jail setting. While you’re discussing compliant handcuffing chained cuffs are easier to apply and less likely to cut the skin during application. Just my 2 cents…great video 👍🏽

As a security guard you have no more or no less responsibility as the owner of the premises. Security guards. You don't ever go hands on. As a security guard you are not allowed any use of force you are a civi that's it. If the person tries to attack you you defend yourself like any non Leo can in this country. You will be sued up the culo and they will win. Cops are losing their jobs so security guards forgeddabout it. This video does not say is this for security guards or cops.
